Jamie Smith is a seriously good player.

Smith's issue is whether he just focuses on his batting or carries on keeping on the side. When he's in full flow he's beautiful to watch

Anyway, Roach and Worrall are a brilliant pair

Jamie Smith is a seriously good player.

He's at it again. Great 90 against Middlesex.

Surrey looking formidable this season.

Can't see past Surrey for the Championship.

Sad to see Yorkshire struggling while Root and Brook (occasionally) play IPL. Not sure it's doing England any favours either.

I reckon Smith will be a Test player this year or next.

I think you're right. I was really impressed by his innings against Essex where he just dug in.

I’ll remember this when the Warwickshire boys are lifting the trophy…

And...as it's a bat forum... Seems to be using a fairly standard Alpha profile. Hits it so cleanly.

He does stand a bit funny and his trigger closes him off which I don't like, but he is the pro, not me...

Compared to Foakes, he looks like an old school coaching manual 🤣

There's another highly-rated WK bat coming through at Surrey. Josh Blake. From same club as Smith, I believe.

Unlike winning in 2018 followed by a poor season in 2019, we don't appear to be showing any signs of complacency, have recruited pretty well and a solid academy intake now showing what they're capable of. Middlesex were poor but to win 3 from your first 5 amongst the trickier sides in Lancs, Hants, Warwickshire, Essex etc shows we're in a decent position. True test will be when we lose the England players and Roach who's only here for one more...

Only thing that bums me out is not playing a frontline spinner, because I imagine Moriarty (and Virdi on his day) would get a game at most sides, and we're probably at a high risk of losing them this season if we stick to the same plan of the occcasional bit of offspin from Jacks

Not sure how many England players we will loose, probably only Pope and Foakes.
Smith keeps and the Ben Geddes comes in. Then we have loads of bowlers being rotated.

That's still a rather big chunk of runs coming out of the side though. I'm still torn on Smith keeping or not - with the form he's in without the gloves I don't think giving them to Latham is necessarily a bad idea

Saying that the one player who's incredibly frustrating is Patel, however I do appreciate his cause is never helped by not knowing where on Earth he's going to bat.
