that straight drive by Tongue is enough to merit him a place as a tailender that can bat...not to mention his spells were definitely refreshing

Its a shame seeing Tongue get dropped after performing decently. I guess they kept Robinson for his chat!

Agree...on paper its 2-0 but neither of those wins came easy for the Aussies. A Cummins cameo saved them in the first test. Lyon will be a big loss too. Murphy was good on Indian pitches which offered him a lot. I suspect he will wilt under bazball pressure.

Strengthen the tail by making it longer? Not sure I agree with that theory.

To me picking the extra seamer says two things - 1. Wood is going to be used in very short spells to bowl at full tilt and probably wont bowl more than 16 overs in a day (4x4?) 2. Stokes wont be bowling unless it gets very desperate.

I also dont agree that Australia have looked too strong. Englands naivety/attitude/ethos/whatever you want to call it has seen them throw away winning positions in both matches. Australia have shown a greater will to win and played real hard cricket but I think the gap in ability is minimal. Especially now with Lyon gone.

Agreed, by being overly positive, we've let good positions for us become good positions for Australia. However I would rather have the Oz pace attack! Tongue desperately unlucky to miss out - Robinson not been on top form for me, picking up tail end wickets mainly. I also don't think Jimmy bowled that bad, just didn't get any wickets. He'll bowl worse and get loads.

Absolutely vital for England to have a strong first session. Our record at Lords against the Aussies is really dreadful.

But from some poor decisions Eng would have won that first game. I think we will see some pragmatism start creeping into the Bazball approach.

Honestly, my money is on Aus going 2-0 up.

Feels like my Lords review was pretty solid.

For headingly tomorrow...
I think Eng are looking better in terms of the balance of the team. Great to see Wood playing.

I think England will win this one. More varied bowling, I also think the Aussie attack is going to be tired.

Boland will play probably for Josh Hazelwood I suspect.

England really need to keep the Aussies fielding for more than 2 and a half sessions though.

The big problem with batting as fast as they do is the oppo bowlers aren't that tired in the second dig where as our bowlers get no rest...

Will be interesting to see how Cummins goes with his fourth test on the trot in about a month and such a quick turnaround - must surely also be catching up with him
