Cost of production and materials in making the pads vs The price they are sold at...the materials are available to improve pads, gloves safety and weight reduction etc but are companies going to increase the cost prices of the products without demanding a top end price and therefore risking losing a % of their market??

I think we've gone over this one before Tom, someone will, and that someone will take a step ahead of their rivals.

aye i just sick of all the same immataions after immatations out there in soft goods what i call the safe option.
unlike some on here though i not a cricket equipment supplier ie run a buisness so i can not comment on that
all i know is there will be a pad out soon which will blow away the market hopefully, and fit hobbits and giant..

Indeed with the price of bats now rising for your average bat I don't see why gloves and pads if offering the same high quality element in protection that they are designed to offer shouldn't follow suite!

so what attributes would the ultimate softs have? Between us, do we not have the know how and the contacts to come up with this holy grail pad? Or is the missing ingredient that really will change the game, still undiscovered?

Who was the first to have pads with velcro-straps? They must have been truly ground-breaking. To have leather straps with buckles seems quite ridiculous now - although, thinking about it, wasn't Sachin wearing them until quite recently?
