No I can't get hold of it lol..... yes mate apart from a bay at the moment as ended up carrying out a little survey into different top end brands to see what I though performed the best :)

If I wanted to go for the best scenario in my case, I would go to someone like SAF, and ask for 2 bats!
The first bat would be based totally on performance, and as my match bat would need to be the exact weight and pickup I like with good all shot profile.
The second bat would be a lower grade willow. But I would still ask him to do the exact same profile, size of middle, position of middle, same pick up. BUT would see if he could make it a couple if ounces heavier!
That way, I would get use to using a heavier bat in the nets, ensuring that my muscles get stronger in their shots! But as the difference would only be a couple of ounces, I would hopefully not have to correct too much of a timing issue in a match! Especially as my timing is a little slower when I play matches anyway, due to me being not quite as relaxed in matches as I am in nets! And in a match I choose my shots a little more carefully (or try!)
And therefore, the slightly lighter bat in a match should feel a lot lighter and easier to play, and bat speed should be better too. This is obviously a theory, but so far a similar method to this seems to be working well for me. However, it probably won't work for everyone!

Yeah sounds good, could you have the same pick up with different weights??

Well other forum members who own our bats will give u an opinion on our bats as mine is obviously biased, the bat that I have found performs the best costs £400 and is made by Julian millchamp so not something most people will buy!

Our bats seem to perform well enough as there are several people who have scored 100's this season with them (Inc colsey) and one lad knocked 3/4 I think :)

Yes - you have the same pickup in proportion to the weight.
Therefore the pickup would be slightly heavier that your match bat, as the dead weight of the bat is heavier!
But it would all help in building up the correct muscles you use and add to the muscle memory theory.
It would not be as beneficial if the pickup on the net bat was lighter, as it would not build the 'pick up muscles' if that makes any sense?

Ahhh i see what you mean, so say pick up 2 oz's lighter than dead weight on both, but one 3 oz heavier than other one...

Somewhere around there.
You dont want too much of a difference as timing will become an issue.
But I think in theory it could work well!

Interesting to see on here that there are quite a lot of people talking about netting with heavier bats than their match bat. Because the other day i was watching a programme called sport science and they was testing if using heavier bats actually helps (they was testing it for baseball but it works for cricket aswell). It was proven that it actually slows down your swing by about 8% or something so it doesnt actually work. Something to do with muscle memory or something like that! Was a couple of weeks ago now so forgot everything that was actually said. It was on Sky so some of you might be able to get it on the playback or whatever its called.

Something on what Patty said, I dunno how much substance it's got to it though!
