Yeah i dont think you can drop greats like that! Is that a general trend for most teams though, maybe reflections of deteriorating pitches? But 1 out of 20 odd hundreds is an awful return!

Have to bear in mind that these greats of the modern game play in India, and in the Second innings i.e Days 4/5, the ball is likely to turn big and the pitch will deterioate for uneven bounce. Therefore, your best players of spin i.e Laxman, Tendulkar and Gambhir are likely to prosper more than Dhoni/Dravid and who ever the 6th batsman is......

No, I'm saying that Tendulkar and Dravid should be on their 'way out', like... Giving new bloody a chance. Not Sehwag though!

Can't see sachin anywhere near thinking about going when his avg is 85 in last 11 tests

But see what you mean they need to see if the crop can handle test level but hard to find room when older players still pilling on the runs

Sachin has been the best batsman in the world for so long now and he hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. He definitely shouldn't be on his 'way out'

I think you're missing my point. The guy is getting on. What is he now, 37? He may go on for another year, maybe not. I think it's time the Indian selectors gave some young blood a chance. I think Lax, Dravid, Sachin should give some youngsters a go. I don't know if you've seen, but the new breed have the potential to be better than the above. They might not be, but they have HUGE potential.

Then why does sehwag keep failing to get a big score in the second innings, one second innings ton ???
I'd much rather Sehwag blasting hundreds in India's 1st dig, setting up the possibility of victory, rather than him grinding out a 2nd innings hundred on the hope of saving the match.

No, no it doesn't protect him from criticism! Bar Laxman and Gambhir, they're all poor in their 2nd innings!
Tendulkar: 43.08, down from 56.11, 10 out of 48 hundreds.
Dravid: 43.53, down from 52.86, 5 out of 29 hundreds.
Sehwag: 30.80, down from 53.90, 1 out of 21 hundreds.
Dhoni: 38.52, down from 40.82, no hundreds (doesn't bat above 7 most of the time, so he's less culpable, plus he normally rearguards because of the above failures.)
Laxman: 50.47, up from 47.40, 5 out of 16 hundreds.
Gambhir: 54.04, up from 51.36, 5 out of 9 hundreds.
Yuvi does well out of it as well, but he doesn't get enough of a game.
If you ask me, it's time for the old legends to move on, Pujara, Mukund, Kohli, Badri, Rohit, Vijay, etc. To get a go...
Their averages may dip in the 2nd innings, but thi scan be down to deteriorating pitches. It's common knowledge that Indian wickets are at their best on days 2 and 3. Furthermore it's often very difficult on days 4 and 5.

With regards to the seniors retiring. Dream on.

Sachin and VVS are like a vintage wine, they get better with age. Dravid is coming to the end of the road.

Of the up coming players, there's only Pujara and Rahane whom are really breaking the door down to get into the Test side.

Badri was harshly treated and seems have been dis-guarded.

Rohit is a mug. Vijay and Mukund are only in the squad due to being from Chennai, where the chairman of selectors is from. Chennai's wicet is one of the flattest in India. Other guys in contention are Kohli and Pandey. They play at the tougher scoring grounds, Delhi and Bangalore.

Only potential mate. They've got lads scoring triple tons, averaging 55+, and single-handedly destroying sides! They've got a good crop coming. Just need a couple of really sharp bowlers!

So what if he's 37? Steve Waugh played till almost 40

He's the best batsman in the world, and apart from Sehwag, his form is out of this world.

But they are also playing on the flattest pitches in the world with no swing. See what they average up against good swinging balls and bouncers

Jeet, that's Steve Waugh. Sachin is not Steve Waugh. Can his body handle it? Does he want to play till he's 40? How/when does he want to go out? It could happen at any time, it depends on his personal preference!

Exactly Sachin is twice the batsman Waugh was. He will retire from ODI's after the 2011 WC.

According to Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin will play until 40-43 in Tests.
But they are also playing on the flattest pitches in the world with no swing. See what they average up against good swinging balls and bouncers
You should've been a comedian. There's such things as reverse swing and spin in India. Additional, grounds like Delhi, Mohali, Bangalore etc to assist bowlers.

Could be achieved before the years out. 1 Test vs Oz and 3 vs NZ...
