A couple of lightweights!
« on: October 06, 2010, 12:39:25 PM »

With talk of lightweight kit flying around the forum i thought it would be interesting to see what the helmets weighed in at were considering bringing out for next season..

The feature a carbon fibre shell and more traditional EPS liner to them in the guise of our PCS models.

Helmet One- the orange and gunmetal grey shell that weighed in at 578g with our 2010 grill upon it, I would expect this to come down to nearer 560g with a once colour finish to it as obviously additional layers of paint all add weight ;)

Helmet two- which is the traditional model helmet as featured in Wisden last year weighed in at 571g with our 2010 Ti grill. i would hope the weight came down of this model too once the ventialtion slots etc and machined into it.

Would be interested to see what otehr people Masuri Ti and Albion Ti weigh?

No mate these have a different liner to them than what you have got hence why they are lighter! :D

This is the one were thinking of producing for the PCS model of helmet.....much more what people are used to in terms of an EPS liner to the helmets and different thicknesses of foam to adjust the fit. Early mock-up as below but will become more advanced before we launch it......as dont want to show all our cards too soon ;)

Yeah will bring the price and weight down a of the helmets and should still be much safer too ;) dont get the benefits of a customised fit though on this model but as they say you cant have it all!

When will the PCS be released? It would suit the level that we play at more than the ACIS

Few decisions to make at the moment but as usual you lot get a sneak preview of what may possibly be on the horizon!

Price wise we would be looking at approx £75.00 for the Fibreglass PCS and £90.00 for the Carbon Fibre version i would imagine....Carbon Fibre ACIS is set to rise as raw material costs are on the up but will include a Tianium grill as standard with it. Also another 2 additional helmet at £40.00 and £60.00 maybe added to the range depending on what is decided :)

Thats a great Idea for the cheaper helmets. Would the PCS be similar to wearing a Albion?
