hi ed, this may sound an odd question, but because of the CAD machine would it be possible to get a bat made in an old shape?

Here's the Question and Answer that I didn't want to post but will do now! :)

Q.
Hi Edward,
As I said, I am not sure whether this is a good question, so forgive me if this is a silly one, but it is regarding your pros and your bats. In terms of pros and bats, do you try to spread them out evenly over the ranges, hence some changes of profiles used this year (eg. GC Smith Apex --> Luna?) - or is it mostly down to the player?
Would I be right in believing that most, if not all of the pros get their bats made at the factory? And are bats taken across ranges and stickered up as PR?
If this is something you are not free to discuss, do let me know, and if so, my bad! :|
Johan

A.
Happy to discuss anything Johan!

All our pros, without exception, have their bats made in our own factory in Nottingham. What bat they use is down to them, we physically only have the sets of stickers that we produce for the catalogue range, so yes truthfully we have to apply one of those sets to their bats. Most of the pros use one of the catalogue shapes, or a very close derivation thereof, and that typically governs the stickers that are used. Where possible, we try and ensure reasonable exposure of each model across the players.

Feel free to post your question and my answer on the forum, it is good for people to understand how we operate.

Kind regards

Edward

Completely possible indeed.

However, if your next question is "Oh great can you make me a replica of my favourite wand that I scored 177 not out and secured the Cup for my team by hitting the biggest six that had ever been seen at Trixton-under-Piddle off the last ball off that bloke who everyone said was an unplayable Aussie ringer although he said he came from just down the road in Trixton-On-Gringe", then please be prepared for a not so cordial reply!

 :o

Best wishes

LOL, so an old GM shape would be possible then Edward? And no Probs Alex! Seems Edward will discuss anything, thought that was a touchy area with some brands, not so much GM then!

I  have a question
"Where do GM see themselves in 5 years time?"
When asking this question im considering the rapid demise of Slazenger as a brand, Gray Nics outsourcing to India and the rise of Adidas, Puma and inevitably Nike. The cricket market is changing, where does GM fit into it?

Couple of questions.

Please can you make Jon Trott's profile available to the public?

And

What bat do you use Edward?

haha class that mate. Trixton-Under-Piddle sounds like a lovely little seaside town

Thanks for being straight with us Edward, hope you hang around here for a while.

You say there was a particular thread that was doing the rounds in your office...wasn't the Shane Watson one was it? That will make for some interesting reading I am sure if you stumble across it!

Thanks for your answer Edward - was good to meet you all and nice that you showed a few of us your operation at GM!

Of course, we all now realise that you are posting in a flurry, so that you can quickly get up to 50 posts, and are therefore eligible to sell some of your older bats on the forum! Don't try to deny it!  ;)
