Hi all
Thought I'd start us off this year.
Played against a guy with full neon gear today.
Also saw a Wright cricket bat (but not in use) one of the oppo had.
-
One of the lads I played today had a kookaburra impulse and it flew, sounded lovely!
-
4 b3s
A shark
A red ink
-
B3 which was nice and a couple Amplus and Newbery Thruxtons - latter 2 were interesting choices for a April wicket in the UK
-
Couple of b3's which put on 159* to win the game. Also a BB on show and an old school MRF Typhoon
-
Saw a Woodstock tour de force got a good 50 odd against is today.
Were also a couple of BAS on show (one Vampire and not sure of te model of the other one)
In our team one of the colts turned up with a Newbery Kudos daddy had bought for them and there was a nice TT SPS.
On a more village note, one of the oppo was right handed, but batting in left handed pads... :-[
-
Played against a lad today in full lekka gear. His bat was taped up with selotape ha

That wasn't Sellotape, that was lekkas new product 8u115h1t 40v37ti51m3n7 tape! ;)

XTRA GRADE 1 TAPE
-
B3s every where's!
4 in our side, 2 on oppos on sat, and I believe all 11 oppos had b3s in today's game.
But seeing as one of the opposition was called Charlie blatherwick, and b3 director is also called blatherwick. I'm guessing that's the reason why.
-
Saw some Shamrock keeping gloves at Charlton Down CC near Dorchester.
-

Oooo, where?
Always love turning up to a game seeing the oppo using my kit, never grows old

They were playing for Hythe & Dibden mate.
-
Watched our 2nd team yesterday and a guy had full BB set up, lovely bat in a BB 2 profile and also the gloves in the similar style to the Newbery GT with the silver fingers. They were so comfy. Bat was massive for the weight and had a lovely pick up.
-
Saw a couple of nice bats yesterday. One Hell 4 Leather Hattori which got some runs against us, and a rob pack
-
saw 4 people use a msr bat yesterday but fairly certain it was the same bat each time
-
Someone we played yesterday wore golf shoes!
Apart from that there was a Wookstock and Red Ink/RK being used by me and my mate
-
That wasn't Sellotape, that was lekkas new product 8u115h1t 40v37ti51m3n7 tape! ;)
C'mon Cam, don't be silly. That product doesn't have an 'X' in it. Lekka only use 'X' because everyone knows if there is an 'X' it is obviously much better.
-
Saw a rather large M&H Distinction being used by their opening bat, looked too heavy for him.
-
Oppo had A nice looking distinction shape Pink solitaire, gn nemesis, a stick thin spartan!
-
Opposition number 5 'used' a rather tasty looking Willostix Spitfire yesterday. I say used because he took guard with it, and that was it because he missed a straight ball from our opening bowler first up and was bowled top of off.
-
Not stuff I saw yesterday, but amongst my university team mates we have a Solitaire, and Black Cat and a Willostix. Then the general Newberys, Kookaburras, GNs. Our captain is sponsored by Kookaburra, has the Ricochet 1000, new this year because the one he had last year wasn't the best bat ever
-
We had a few lesser seen bits of kit flying around at the HAC today.
A Laver Signature no less. Not sure about this one. It's not that nice. I tapped it up and it's dead off the middle. It's the Special Profile, so it's all or nothing. I will get a pic at the next match I'm playing with this team mate. My H4L Pro has straighter and sexier looks. This one has about 1 inch of heartwood and the spacing between grains isn't consistent. My H4L also pings a lot better. Not sure I'd have paid that much.
Neon got an outing too. Full softs and bat in all it's lipstick pink glory. Not sure about the look, but the bat went well.
Of, course we re well stocked with H4L. We now have 8 at the club.
An Aldred Supreme was peppering the boundries. Now we have (what I call) proper boundaries. Long. To hit a 6 at the HAC you'll need to really give it the beans. Our team mates Supreme (which has been featured in the Aldred section) sounded fantastic, solid and a reassuring thud.
What else? Oh, yesterday's oppo are sponsored by Cobra and Johnny Walker. We had about 5 cases of Cobra and three bottles of Black Label whisky where given to MotM!. What a great oppo. They can come back anytime.
I took some pics, upload tomorrow, and the ground looks truly magnificent. When you see it you'll want to get a game there.
Happy Days.

We talking Woolwich Matt?? It is a lovely place to play.
I like Burton's Court as well.
-

I like Burton's Court as well.
No, it's the HAC ground, Armoury House in the heart of the City at moorgate.
Mate, it was a picture. I can't wait to share the pictures.
Burtons Court is great. coffee and service on tap. A very, very small ground. Did you ever get pinned by the 'ridge'? I've had a few rear up out of nowhere.
I also saw a pic of Redders and Pattison on the wall, way back in 92. Made me feel really old!
Let me know if you fancy a game. I can sort out accomodation in the House (HQ).
-
Saw a nice bradbury make an unbeaten 60 odd against us today.
Nothing else of more used against us though, a few Sports Direct Slazengers and a GM Epic (think it was a 606).
One of our lads had a nice looking Powerbow Generation X Strike. Looked a bargain for £80. I wasn't a fan of the profile personally though, too much wood towards the toe made it pick up rather heavy. Not my cup of tea but a good buy for him.
-

Thanks for the thumbs up Chris.
-
Went watching my teams T20 where the opposition opener was fully kitted out in Spartan MC le gear.I think there was also two Spartan CG bats and a Spartan MP for good measure.I really liked the look of the MC gear. The bat was a beast
-
On Saturday there was a lad kitted out with Mars cricket bat & softs and an Ayrtek lid.
Some ok looking Newbery's too but nothin else really stood out.
One of the lads at our club is "sponsored" but I can't for the life of me remember who by. Will try get some pics of his kit if he'll let me haha
-
Played Landsdown on Sunday and there was lots of M&H gear being used as well as a purple Bulldog and some player wearing some cycling helmet type thing too!
-
Been quite light on the ground in terms of kit watching - team mate has just got a Spartan CG - got a first baller so no idea how it went.
Oppo player two weeks ago had a very nice M&H Amplus and the CK22 softs - sparkly new and pads were squeaking non stop. Had a guy rip our attack apart this weekend, fully kitted out in Salix gear, until his bat went and he swapped it for an old County - the ball just went further!
-
Played yesterday saw some chase kit and a couple of Hunts County but saw around 14 B3 bats...
-

I play over at Denby so not far from B3 and looking forward to using the one i got from there next time i play, must be good seeing so many of your bats around the midlands area and also i expect further afield as well

I'm not from the Midland mate I'm a Northerner but my proper job HM Forces takes me playing all over the show, Yesterday was in leafy Wiltshire.
Nope mate not my doing Cam mate i only have 2.

Where'd you see the Wright Cricket one cam?
Was also a Hythe & Dibden player mate.
Looked a tidy stick, shame I wasn't brave enough to ask if I could wave the blokes wood round
-
Did he have pads and gloves too, or just the bat? Got a couple of people using my sticks down that way...
-

Not sure fella, just saw the bat propped against a table and was drawn to it.
-
No worries. Nice to see they're starting to get about!
-
Played against a guy on Saturday who was using his mates who is a county professional Hawk XB 500 players bat he hit 6 after 6 he kindly allowed me to have a swing and the ball flew. But what amazed me was that it only had 6 wide straight grains.

For me the only difference grains make is that they make the bat reach its full potential earlier in its life.

My hawk bat will not win any beauty contests and has taken an age to knock in and start to open up but is going to be one hell of a bat, only has 6 grains as well.
-
Saw Rammy Singh smash it about for Durham 2s today with a B3 also saw Ben a Stokes hit the biggest six I've ever seen with a New Balance.

Much the same thing... ;)
-
A chap had an Uzi Black Mamba on Sunday. He didn't seem to wield it in anger but seemed a good stick.
I was told afterwards he was 67! Looked 45 tops.
Week before a lad had a Puma Chromium which had the sweetest sound I've heard for some time.
-
Much the same thing... ;)
You from up here mate?
-
Nah, I meant that a few bats Ben Stokes had for the Ashes allegedly had B3 stickers on the top of the handle
A bit like

Played against a Ayrtek and Redink today, Redink guy batted well despite them losing by 6 runs while chasing 107.
-
saw a fully kitted out red inker yesterday, kit looked real quality
-
Kippax Colossus today: went ok, good solid sound but all edge n no spine. A blank duckbill used by a guy not using gloves and an aero face mask
-
Saw a couple of okay Newberys today, along with an SG and (what I think was) a choice
Had a right mix in my own team today:
Kookaburra ricochet players
An unbranded bat that used to belong to a pro
New Balance
A blank CA (only edge stamps. Belongs to a current international player)
A Newbery GT SPS
An old Newbery Uzi 5*
An Australian GN (no stickers on)
A Stuart Sturridge diamond
Something with eBay New Balance stickers o
RNS larsons
Proper shape GM purist
Also on display were some keeping gives with a spider logo (unsure of brand) and some GJ sports batting gloves and pads.

Got a DNB but it looks nice! Might give her a go today if I'm lucky enough to get a hit.

Spider on the gloves could be redbacks
-
From the Oppo's team.
Kippax opened up... was bloody huge!
Loads of Gecko's and they were terrible. Sounded cheap and nasty and even when middled didn't seem to go.
A new Kook Ricochet which looked nice but the guy wasn't in very long to actually use it.
Even saw one guy bat in Oakleys.. I was a short leg and couldn't help asking what the hell he was doing..... he was out first ball LBW so they didn't help him see the ball :)
Defo not liking all the Gecko kit appearing down here though. Looks awful.
-

Was thinking that but it was a different spider haha
Will have to look more closely next time :-[
-
Well, lots of Instinct kit flying around today.
Plus, team wear, sponsored by Talisman! Yep that Talisman!
Most of the players apparently play for Wincanton on a Saturdday, think that is somewhere around where Instinct was based
-

Be interested to see one of those kippax tree trunks in the flesh - how did it play? Shortened blade right?
-
A South African overseas had full DP gear today.
A bloke had full mongoose gear (including keeping)
Was a nice Adidas ST Master Blaster and a very tidy 707 Octane on show too.
Other than that the usual Newbery's etc.
Still not had a bat since I bought my purist :(
-
you only bought it a few days ago.
nothing interesting to report recently except a fair few CA's off varying grades that seriously ping!!
infact all that have been middle in an aerial shot have gone for six
and even the edge i caught at third man would have been 6 had a not jumped ti catch it!!
-

It was a cannon. Went really well. Dunno if it was shortened but it was huge
-
On my overseas trip to the Isle of Wight yet material there was a reasonable choice of kit on display.
Their overseas had full impulse gear
There was a Chase R11 custom
A FatBats (assuming bespoke)
One of our team had full spartan MP gear and another guy had a choice willow bat.
-
Apart from the shocking result today there were some lovely bats on show in the oppos team as I rarely ever see any forum brands in the midlands. A very nice looking Blank Bat seemed to go quite nicely when the lad used it. A B3 bespoke that a lad didn't do too much with. And the lad that got 55 had a lovely Laver Private Bin, big profile and he hit some well timed 6's rather than just using pure power, he also had an Ayrtek with the old pump system in.
-
Went to watch our 1st XI in the T20 cup competition today.
Our overseas player has a nice SF bat and a Shrey lid.
One of the oppo has an aero Hannibal lector/gimp mask for keeping
They had coloured pads to match their kit (green), mostly sports direct Slazenger ones but I did spot a pair of pro issue GN Oblivions too (I really need to get a life...)
-
Someone stop me from buying cricket bats please, I find myself looking at them on ebay and I can't let a bargain get away. I've got 3-4 bats as it is.

Stop tempting me to buy more!!!
Pics or it didn't happen...
Ones away to get oiled right now, ones a Kookaburra Bubble, one is a Spartan bat which I bought for £30 for wet weather as I don't want to ruin the Bubble or the one that's getting oiled in. My brother's friend is buying me one since he's an 'expert' in bats (hasn't arrived yet).
I'm currently eyeing up two on eBay right now and got outbidded last second on one today...
I'm addicted.
-
Played against Redbourn Saturday (whom which Gary who makes Choice willow bats Opens the batting for) Safe to say they were all Head to Toe in Choice willow Gear some of the bats really did fly.... And three of our team are currently using them which resulted in him apparently being fined for every run scored against there team with a bat that he made !!
We were 65 A.O so id imagine it was a cheap day for him.
-
I saw a Salix today that had at least 12 perfectly straight grains and was thinking that it must have cost a fortune, but then I noticed the CA branding on the side. Not sure how the bloke got hold of the stickers...
-
Saw a new looking v1200 fusion this evening...

They do appear on eBay from time to time. Would love to know how people get hold of them!

If you are careful, you can take them off and put them on, with a bit of glue here and there.
For instance. Last night one of our lads was using a Nixon with genuine GM Octane stickers.
-
Bats worthy of note have been a bit thin on the ground over the last couple of weeks. As more players make appearances for us there's a guy with a full set of Bradbury gear - softs look nice and his bat goes very well, a dynadrive.
Best sounding bats from the opposition I've herd was a Kook menace, which went very well for 40-odd not out and a 'seasoned pro' (being kind!) at the weekend was using a 90s Surridge bat that was in good nick and went well - the red and blue stickers looked great. Shame he was a stroppy so and so - effing and jeffing at himself and us throughout his innings and at one of our players as he walked off, then kicked our scorers hut. Scottish guy - clearly didn't like the latest independence referendum polls...
-
there was a guy with full cicada gear last night, id never heard of it before, but it was coming off the bat well.
-
One of our midweek T20 players has a youtube channel and PiriPiri cricket have given him the biggest piece of willow that I have ever seen. It only weighs between 2'9-10 but look like it should weigh at least 4lbs! Huge!
-
whats the youtube channel?

Link doesn't work for me
-
Never mind, it works on my computer but not my phone
-
Sourced a team mate an RK.
59*, 39* and 4 with it so far (the one 'out' he was caught on deep cover boundary).
Apart from that there is not much kicking around that I have seen in the two matches I have played.
-
Saw a couple of Aldred bats on Saturday - first ones I've seen in our league. Both looked very nice and seemed to go well, but the owners weren't around for long!
-
i saw an affinity at the weekend and quite a few M&H which surprised me as the team was from oxford
-
Saw a Rob pack on Sunday that went like an absolute rocket
-
Made my SEPL debut Saturday (rain effected so didn't get to bowl :( ) and got a lot of attention from my own team when I appeared with my AdiTek, and more attention from the opposition when I walked out to bat.
One of their blokes came up to me and asked for a look at my helmet (quickly followed up by "I'm not taking the pi55, I've only ever seen one on the telly before"). There were a couple of comments about the price (I've got more money than sense apparently) but Overall everyone seemed impressed. My team mates couldn't believe how light it was.
Kit wise one of my team and a couple of the opposition used BT Blades bats. Was also a nice GM Six6 Original used by one of the other team that was half heartwood.
-
Saw a FAT Batsfor the first time, it had blue stickers. Looked nice.
-
Saw a few Blank Bats being used by a few lads at Stockton when we played them on Saturday...first time I've ever seen them in the North East Premier League!
-
Saw a team in Essex a few weekends ago whos whole top 4 were using Rob Pack's.
A couple of blankbats in recent weeks too.

Blankbats galore in the Essex league :o

Last night's LMS match was against the team with the Aldred that fasteddie sold to their skipper. The change this time was that everyone on the team wanted to use it above the other bats they had, so it stayed on the pitch for their entire innings.

Opening bat for the oppo had a Bulldog Pedigree Plus. Used very effectively, sounded and went beautifully.
Asked him if i could have a look at it at drinks break. Felt very well balanced and had lots of meat. He informed me he was sponsored a while back by Bulldog.
A very nice bat.
-
Wimbledon 5XI's opener had a very nice B3 2 stripe, which apparently his coach at school (an ex-pro?) got for him. Looked like the Bragg shape.
It was quite nice, and it went very well as he despatched all the filth my teammates flung at him around the park.
-
A number 3 today was kitted out in Salix kit, and had a nice looking Salix pod... Unfortunately it sounded terrible and went like a plank. So he swapped it for another Salix (blue stickers).. This one went much better but the fool kept toeing it. Not sure he found the middle once. Shame, second one looked good too though.
-
Half the oppo had optimax from owzat on Sunday.
Probably because there from that village mind!
B3 count gets bigger in our league. probably the best bat in our league(and his dad's an ex test player) trotted out with a db2 2 stripe a few weeks ago. I mentioned it looked a nice stick, and he replied "I had to get one after seeing how far your lot clear the boundaries with them.
He them proceeded to hit 60 with ease, as we got hammered.

I don't recall. I think it was the one you sold on, but don't quote me on that!
-
that bat went overseas.
-
new to the board! noticed there's more interest in Neon cricket gear! which is great, nice to see the little guys getting some promotion
-
Talking of little guys, been involved with the "Chance to Shine" initiative for youngsters and just think it's a great step forward.
I know a lot of suppliers are starting to get involved more.
-
Played against a guy using a nice Hits Hard yesterday, can't remember anything else of note other than a horrendous fake GM Catalyst that had all gold/bronze colour stickers!
Played against a side with an old Kookaburra ridgeback on display, as well as an (I'm assuming custom) old Warsop that had the batsman's name on the sticker from the handle down the spine of the bat.
Also noticed a chase t20 edition 150 finback.
-
Saw someone in full RPC gear all looked decent
-
a guy come in at nine on Saturday with an old Laver and wood.... needed 6 to win... he proceeded first ball to put it in the tennis courts straight over the bowlers head.
I want one
-
Spotted a bulldog at the weekend - not sure which model but it looked a venerable beast.
-
Saw yesterday in the last match:
a player with an uzi black mamba and affinity gloves and pads
another one with a custom made gray nicolls
also a b3 crown
and another one with an aldred gold sovereign
-
Our 2nd team played an essex side yesterday who had vulcans comin out of there ears

Yeah, I did see that on the website mate. Congrats! Good day at Halstead? Good venue!
-
On the IOW I saw (that I can remember)
A redwood bat
A guy in full H4L gear
And a Slazenger with the price (£14.95) still on the back
-

yes love playing there lovely ground nice people

Saw a lovely looking Aldred Supreme in our indoor game last night, cracked a couple of nice sounding shots shots before leathering one straight into one of our fielders, where it stuck! Certainly pinged off though.
