As usual please post pictures.
To upload pics go to https://postimg.cc/files you can then upload a load of pictures at once and copy the hotlinks for forums...
My kit will have to wait until after Christmas... I am hoping I have been good enough for something from Santa!

Just finished our last game for the year and ended with a golden haha. So cleaning and swapping the gear now for the new year and decided to take a few photo's with the phone while it was all unpacked.

So bats Left to Right
Spartan Diamond - Had a punt on this off amazon and its 2.94 Full and balanced beautifully. Will be my next Game bat once prepared
Spartan Michael Clarke - Friend had one net with it and was to heavy for him. (weighs 2.9) So offered him a bat of mine for a swap. Have been using this and the Silver for games.
Spartan MC 1000 - Oldest bat in the collection and i just don't have the heart to get rid of it. Has a broken handle but i just love the feel of whip from it.
Puma Evo Power Black - Newest to the collection scored this for $180 off amazon during black friday sales
Puma evo Power White - Scored this off amazon as well for really cheap. Is a long blade and i just can't seem to get used to it. Will try and sell if not im gonna cut the handle down and do some mods to it.
Gray Nicolls Silver - Game bat goes like a train. First ever Top range gray nic i have owned.
Gm Chroma Signature - Asked for a 2.10 got a 2.7 so this bat is now my indoor cricket bat.
Gm Mana Le - This was my game bat for 2 seasons. When i am in a slump usually go back to this or the spartan mc 1000.
Helmet is a shrey air 2.0 titanium, Puma 19.1 Bowling shoes.
I do have a pair of nikes and Newbalance bowling shoes but there just sitting in the cupboard collecting dust. Usually get a new pair of shoes every season.
Pads are Gray Nic legends and Spartan Diamond pads. I got the Spartans for dirt cheap off amazon and was going to put them in the kit bag cause there a lot lighter then my legends. Just can't seem to do it tho haha, legend pads are just way more comfortable. The padded straps are just so much better and they also don't squeak!

Not many changes from last year, other than new grips, a couple more pairs of gloves, Puma shoes rather than Payntr and NB, and a new green lid on its way. Certainly not enough to faff around with taking new pics.

Just mental lol
-
Gorgeous bats but quite bizarre to own that many the same :D
-
Either that or a stroke of genius so his other half has no idea how many he owns 😂

You've probably got more Ben Stokes edition bats than Ben Stokes himself lol

That was the plan, and it was working well until she rocked up to one of my matches and my teammates dropped me in it.

Have another BS PE and another Aussie made GN on the way so really need to thin out the bat selection but that’s a job for nearer the season.
Only thing missing is spikes and a a pile of fingerless inners. Will list when everything is when I’m on a PC tomorrow. Just wanted to get a photo up.

Can’t see too much changing apart from bats going in and out as I am on this forum after all 😅 seems as though I’ve found myself a bat shape I really like 😊
-
I love those old school gm labels are they on new bats or original?
-
COVID lockdown got me really down, and a bit bored. Maybe unwisely spent a fair chunk on kit - but have had some very very nice gear as a result.
Here is the first of my numerous sets of kits - a pretty new brand called The Crick3t Lab. And the answer is no - even I would wonder if I was sponsored! :-[
(https://i.postimg.cc/hPKQSB18/20210111_003218.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/SjtxrH5j)
(https://i.postimg.cc/qMQhq51P/20210111_003136.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/xcJTFtD5)
I know I know, I just had to get 7 of each sticker... Kind of like an extreme @t2ylo :D
(https://i.postimg.cc/g0jvGWdt/20210111_005159.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/1gxgKb8D)
(https://i.postimg.cc/hj7T71X9/20210111_005137.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/hzcfkxbj)
Here are the profiles of the 5 outer bats, rather Keeley Superior esque shapes with no concaving and a good volume of wood through the hitting zone. I wonder why... (Disclaimer, I've only seen one Superior in the flesh, and I'd say this is pretty close to that profile)
(https://i.postimg.cc/430pdSxf/20210111_005112.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/4KzY2wcq) (https://i.postimg.cc/qB3xt4K9/20210111_005012.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/dDJypM4B)
(https://i.postimg.cc/hj7T71X9/20210111_005137.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/hzcfkxbj)
3 bats TCL shaped up and also an Argon OLE beaut which was rehandled. (The one on the right was an attempted ST shape)
(https://i.postimg.cc/9QF9Bh4X/20210111_004225.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/Vdp5Y2B2) (https://i.postimg.cc/q7NC9xX9/20210111_004257.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/67N3ZRP0)
And a close up of the softs, which were very nice indeed. Will be testing these out on my V Elite batting aid, and possibly my Paceman, if I can find the balls! (Forgot to take an individual one of the Duffle, but seems to be able to fit all the kit plus 2 bats, so what I need!)
(https://i.postimg.cc/ncfYBgYM/20210111_005320.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/Yj8WwXPw)
Of course, one of the 3 Ayrtek lids will be included in this kit, alongside maybe some new Strettons - I'm keen to find out how the mouldable off the shelf ones are like! Then again, I do have 2 pairs of P2s and a pair of Strettons already...
Here's hoping we do get some cricket at least!
-
Outstanding kit badgering @Chad 😂 interested to hear what the bats are like, have heard the name a few times but never seen a review.
-
I mean, no offence. But that is obscene.

A bit excessive to say the least! Will pop up a review on the kit, but probably only go through 2 bats or so!

Not going to lie - I find it obscene too - and I've still got more! Would be best mute/ignore my posts for a while! :(
-
Team mate has a cricket lab bat and its a peach. Very local brand to me so might have to swing by if the reviews are good.
-
Chad might have a spare one going

I wish the lack of season had stopped me. Bought a load of new bats, sold them all and have now bought 3 new ones for the 2021 season...

Come on boys and girls with Lockdown 3.0 in full force here in the UK surely it's time for more dusting off the collection and uploading a few pics on this thread for bat envy for everyone else.

Just waiting for a refurb to come back before I sort my pics out!
-
I'll sort a few pics when the wife is out.... which seems to be a common theme around these parts!
Will be a good way to introduce myself to the forum. I seem to have picked up a bit of a bat buying fetish during lockdown (not sure if that is just because I can't go into a shop and pick them up) so thought I'd better join the forum to make me feel a bit more normal :D

Be interested to know how that Slaz goes.
Just returning to the game after a long break but my last match bat when I stopped playing was an amazing V600. Used to have such a good reputation and now seemingly relegated to Sports Direct Specials.... makes me sad
-
@More Glue Than Wood - I like the shape of that blank bat - any idea what it was?
-
i'm pretty sure it is not a real slaz, as it does not have any of the 'grooves' a real v800 had - the stickers also don't seem genuine - i think they are the fakes you can buy on ebay - but they look ok and for £30 it taps up nicely and will be great as a net/wet & back up bat - esp as my match bat is on its last legs!!!
-
@More Glue Than Wood - I like the shape of that blank bat - any idea what it was?
no idea sorry - came to me without any stickers and couldn't work out what it was from any shape/sticker residue - seller didn't say what it was on the listing
it absolutely flies though and picks up like a feather - i've never had anything as nice as it - just hope it holds together!!! :D
-
More tape than wood!
-
No risk of it falling apart when it's mummified in bat tape and scuff sheets 😂

What brand/model did you order? Planning to buy a helmet but waiting until shops open back up to go and try before purchasing one.

The Masuri E Line titanium. Once the shipping was factored in (USA store), it was neaaaaarly more economical to get the E Line, so after many nights of indecision, I went for that. I nearly bought the T line instead.. Can't wait to get to the nets in Detroit for the first time!

Caved and got everything out this morning. Missing a bat away at @Neon Cricket for a refurb and the new Neon Blue gloves, but this is what is currently lying around:

Shrey Ti and Masuri OS2 Test Ti
Neon gloves 2x white, 1x black
Neon pads, black and white
2x unbranded gloves, one shark tooth and one sausage finger that are a copy of the MH16 model.
Strettons and Aero P1
Black and white Ayrtek, large in both colours and small white
2x Ace gloves that are used for trainings
Shock Dr box and cheap other box.
I'm effectively keeping two separate bags for midweek and weekend. Neon jr duffle for midweek/black kit, wheelie duffle for league.
I seem to have been accumulating spikes as well as gloves:

2x NB CK10s - absolutely loved them so when I found the green ones on ebay for £40 I didn't hesitate.
Old Asics Gel-Gully 5 which haven't managed to sneak into the pics.
Old Nike Lunar Dominate and new Nike rubber spikes.
Number 1 definitely my Asics Roadhawk FF2, spiked up by The Shoe Doctor. Absolutely love them!

Bats L to R:
Hunts County
JP Gavan Pro Plus (copy of B3 shape 19)
B3 shape 19
Neon Green (absolute rocket, thanks Adam!)
Ace Players LE
Spyder Venom - bought as a project for lockdown, will have Neon Yellow stickers applied.
Missing my JP Gavan Featherblade as it is away getting a refurb and Neon Blue stickers.
All bats stickered as Neon as I am lucky enough to be supported by Adam. I did get a few verbals for the bright green stick last season, but found the best answer was to let the middle of the bat speak for itself.

@mohawks94 you'll be pleased to know its all ready to go mate, would've left tomorrow but the snow might have put a delay to that! 🤣🤣

Excellent! Definitely needed some TLC that I just don't have the facilities to do, sure it will have been an interesting challenge.

Very jealous of those fresh ck10’s much prefer the shape of them to the latest versions with the “bootie” style opening.

It was a case of seeing them in my size on eBay, giving it about 30 seconds thought and going for it. Safe to say I am sorted for a while for spikes.
-
I haven't bought any kit for 2021. I really should be kicked off the forum. I just have this nagging feeling we aren't going to get a season this year. As a result I've held off buying yet another bat and some new pads. Neither of which I actually need.
-

I would agree with this. Not a fan of the integrated tongue either. I may be mistaken, but I thought I saw Root batting earlier today in an older model of the CK10s
-
He seems to use a range of shoes from his sponsor. Weirdly he seems to be using a pair of the 4020 trainers for astroturf spiked up. Did have the older colourway on today too. Suppose you can pick what you want when you are one of the best in the world and NB will be happy that their logos are on
God, that sounds like such badgery reading back 🤣
-
That's the 2021 line up. The white Slazenger pads are just here to be used IF my club gets to play a red ball game. Beside that,... let's hope that at least a few matches can happen to begin with.

What about your son's kit?
-
You know me far too well.
It’s my way of hiding my secret extra stash in their bags!!!
I’ll post theirs shortly - big one doesn’t care much about kit.
Little ones a proper Badger.
-
Still really like that green SS
-
Me too. It’s the one I always end up using
-
Big fan on the bat collection @t2ylo, the yellow grips look fantastic on those GMs. I am keeping a very close eye on the other Masuri TON you have on eBay too.
-
Both the lads kit. It’s fair to say that’s a lot of kit to hide away around the house

Thanks buddy - I’ve shifted loads of bats lately on the £1 listing offer as I try to break my buying in pairs problem.

May I ask were the white blank sausage splits are from mate?

How's he getting on with those G&F's? Bought a couple of his sub grade jobbies as cheap net bats and was very impressed.
-
Very very good indeed.
I’m also a big fan (that’s why he’s got 4 all in different shapes & sizes)
I’ve said it in here before, he presses the bats just so.
-

They were from @DorsetDan when he placed an order for men’s sized unbranded sausage splits and there was minimum order size. These are my final pairs :-(

Great stuff.
Absolutely. When I got the first bat from him, the first thing I did was drop him a mail to thank him and complement him on his pressing! For an 80 quid bat the look/grains and pressing were very impressive. Probably right up there with GM signatures in terms of value for money. I'd be happy to use them in a match.

I have not use it in anger yet - feels lovely under the mallet and bouncing ball
Indian made & very well finished indeed
Made in Jalandhar - and looking at his softs i would say KG most likely
I have been meaning to do a bit of a review - nice shape, not much concaving at all, oval handle, which surprised me, thick toe and a lot of bat for 2lb 9oz
-
Made in Jalandhar? Really? Where abouts? I've got relatives in that area ad would like to check them out on my next visit.

Also you have BAS, Robinson Sports, RNS Larsons and other manufacturers in Jalandhar. Shrey helmets are also made in Jalandhar if you want to go see them too.
Btw wanted to ask what are the bats like you shared in your kit pic? Never tried SM but well regarded and thought to try at some point.

RNS and RS I've had a look at and even have 2 RNS in my armoury. But the handle on one of them gave away way too early. Thankfully GN put a new one in it.

Give kg a ring before you pop down. I went there without notice and they didn't have any uk sized equipment.. Bas factory was a waste of time, I wouldn't go again myself.
-

Sorry mate totally didn't read that final sentence of yours.
I've got two RNS. Unik and some Grade 3 model that the guy in the RNS factory outlet had laying around. The Unik is still my favourite bat out of the bunch. Light pickup for a 2.10, feels really comfortable. Pings pretty well too.
SM: That one is pretty fresh and hasn't seen hard ball action yet. I've played some indoor trainings pre lockdown here in Austria. But: The shape and profile of the bat is brilliant. It's got a thinner handle than the RNS Unik, has a slight oval feel to it. Just a tad bit. And it's got a really nice pick up for the shape. I'll try to make a short video of the bat if I get the time during the week and send it to you.
-
Finally managed to get the kit out to check it over.
Very much the same as last year.
I am not sure what the collective term is for GN kit, but I appear to have a lot of it.

Sounds like you need a bigger bag ;)

Current state of play:
Pads: GN Legend. Spent most of Lockdown 1.0 trading pads in and out trying to find my perfect set. Eventually kept the ones I started with and taped up the logo. If I could get these blank with shorter and plain white/black straps I don't want to know how much I'd be willing to pay for them....
Gloves: Probably the Lockdown 3.0 project. Chase FLC are my favourite pair for comfort but don't match. GN Prestige the only ones that match the straps on my pads (assume I'm in a safe space to talk about this :D) other two are a pair of SG Test White and some blanks off eBay that I will use for nets. Current shortlist for new options includes B3 pittards if their new range is good, SS LEs if the indian mens fit works for me, Kook Ghost Pro and the new Jedi Players Edition. All will give me matching strap issues though so I may end up using the GN Prestige and just sucking it up. Tbh if I didn't have the Chase pair I would happily do this but I've been spoiled.. Or I might end up finding some gloves I love and having to buy new pads to match (which won't be as good as the Legends) and the cycle will begin again. I think I need help.
Helmet: Masuri Titanium. Probably my only piece of kit that is a complete lock and will not change.
Thigh pads: Aero P2s. Tried strettons but couldn't quite make them perfect, then went back to P2s last game of the season and it felt like I wasn't wearing them. May try a small size set of strettons, but likely to stick with the Aero's I think.
Box: Shock doctor and shorts. Very unlikely to change.
Arm guard/wristband: Ayrtek hybrid
Bag: GM 909. Another item I've cycled through a few of. I've had massive wheelies which fit everything but don't fit in the car and duffles which this year with no changing rooms were a right pain to be rummaging around in (tried every design and I still lose things at the bottom). I think this one might be a keeper as it's just bigger than mid sized but can fit all my gear plus 3 bats with covers and has good side pocket storage. And it fits beautifully in the car..
Bats (L-R):
- B3 32.2 2 Stripe. Gun and most likely match bat.
- B3 12.1 3 Stripe (Finch). Lovely in the hands, not quite got on with it in use yet, slightly lower middle which may contribute.
- B3 32.2 1 Stripe. Net bat to cover for the 2 stripe. All the B3s are harrow size at about 2lb 8oz
- Chase FLC Harrow/SSH. Not quite fallen in love yet but it is a serious performer if I can crack it. Different shape and feel in the hands to the B3s but a very long middle indeed. Could work its way to match bat status if I have a few good nets with it.
- Red Ink middling bat - PM'd John on here and he did a cracking job sorting out for me.

@Buzz what's the helmet?
Looks like a OS2 but with vision series grill?
Intriguing......

No it is just an os2 ti helmet, as far as I know. I have messed about with lids and grilles now it could be anything.
My son has a plastic masuri with a double bar ti grille for example 😲😂

@jp2408 you seem to be as fussy as me on pads!! 😳

Finally dusted off my kitbag!
Match kit from 2020, I don't really see much changing here tbh as I'm happy with all the bits. Let's see if that holds true by the time the season rolls around :D
(https://i.postimg.cc/Hj1m8JfK/IMG-20210131-153712.jpg)
Bats - Keeley Superior and a Keeley SB/LH. Both absolute rockets.
Pads - OLS unbranded pads to appease my kit ocd
Gloves - Unbranded kohli style gloves, believe they were off Dan from the forum
Helmet - Masuri titanium
Thigh guard - Moonwalkr
Shoes - Nike Domain 2
Other - Arytek sweatband and box
GM kit - do I need a separate set of kit for one brand .. no. But here we are ...
Bat - GM Chroma Signature, love the stickers and the shape of this. Looks so much better with a white grip imo!
Pads - GM Original LE, managed to get these for £50 off amazon, too good to pass!
Gloves - GM 606 that I got cheap in a sportsdirect sale the other year. The fact they don't match the pads bothers me so I will probably upgrade ..
Thigh guard - Stretton foxes, I love the concept but find them a bit cumbersome.
All the bats ... (Apologies to the fibre sheet haters!)
Adidas XT Grey 4.0 - Got for a good deal from Talent, really nice stick but can't see myself using it so will move it on.
Kookaburra Ghost - This was actually a Slazenger v1000 I got from sports direct for £50. It's Sondhi made and goes like a cannon, had multiple team mates off me a lot more for it but I won't sell :D
GM Chrome Signature - Love the stickers and shape, can't wait to use it in the nets.
H4L Sub bat - Stickered as a NB as it came blank. Big brute of a bat, but it's surplus to requirement so moving this on.
Green Keeley - Originally a phantom custom in the dark edition shape. The best ping of any bat I've had but it's pretty damaged, so just trying to keep it going!
Keeley Superior - My match bat, love the feel and performance, don't see this moving anytime soon.
Kookaburra Ghost Lite - Got in the sales a few years back, will move this on as it's too light for me.
Blank Laminate bat - Wanted to try out a laminate but haven't had a chance to use this yet. Debating just selling it.
-
Lovely wee collection @richyreed, any idea if all the Ghost Lites come in the shorter blade/longer handle set up?
-

Thanks! I believe they all do
Cheers, that makes my search for a cheap bat very interesting!

What I foresee walking out in first game of the season, fingers crossed April!

Bat - Chase Custom Lam - Purchased from the forum at reasonable price. 1212g. Duckbill shape. Picks up light and goes like a train. Match bat for the last 2 seasons.
Gloves - Adidas Incurza 1.0 - took me a while to warm to Adidas as a non-traditional cricketing brand but these gloves are top drawer, light, snug and Ive worn a few short ones without issue. Like the aesthetics aswell
Pads - GN Legend - the best on the market in my opinion.
Lid - Albion Ti22 - tried loads of helmets over the years and keep coming back to this one. Feels balanced and fits well. Added bonus of non-fixed grill. Rare as rocking-horse manure now as ive been trying to source a 2nd one in decent nick for training, without luck.
Box - Aero - probably had for 10 years now. Never been hit
Thighs - Stretton Fox - very happy with them. I understand the complaints about the fitting and moulding but once you have them right they are like a skin. Worth the kerfuffle.
Footwear - Puma 19.1 - Mainly went with Puma as I know their size 11 fits me perfectly. But its a really good shoe, good ventilation and plenty of support. I dont bowl often but trundled in for some medium pace overs in these no problem.

Extra bats!
Oxfordshire Cricket Custom - 1228g. SCat Series 1 shape. Made by @Northern monkey. Just a gorgeous bat, both the willow and the shape. If I can get it match ready in time it will be in the bag alongside the Chase.
Scott G2 - Off the shelf but superb nonetheless. 1216g. The biggest of my bats and picks up nicely. Made by @jonny77. Will have no qualms taking this out to the middle when its ready to go.
GM Diamond 808 - First GM ive owned approaching my 20th season of mens cricket. 1201g. Picks up really well but have only used it in training so far.
Warsop Custom - 1209g. Lovely bat. A few years old now but no damage. Picks up like a wand. Old school shape similar to the Newbery Mjolnir with a slightly higher middle.
(https://i.postimg.cc/NGdhzG2R/1-B2475-AA-20-AB-4573-9637-E85-F0-DA04-B68.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/YjLy4H3S)
And my bags!
H4L Wheelie. Not sure if this has a model name or when it was released. Bought from Ebay fairly cheap and it has far exceeded my expectations. Huge Capacity with separate sections for wet and dry clothes. Side pockets for valuables and other bits and pieces. And internal mesh pockets aswell. Everything i take on a matchday fits in this bag and its easy to organise. Only 2 bat sleeves but thats all i take to matches anyway. Tri wheels of good quality and solid zips and materials throughout. Id almost given up looking for the perfect bag!
Scott Wheelie Duffle. Wont write too much as I plan to do a full review elsewhere but first impression is a very well designed bag. Currently has my training kit in and think it will be perfect for that.
-
Watching the test this morning unleashed my inner kit badger so I thought it time to dust off what will likely be the starting kit for 2021 (assuming it doesn't change 8 times between now and April). No prizes for guessing the dominant brand... enjoy!

Bats
Neon Pink (Freshly Refurbished) - Reserve Grade - 2lb 6.2oz - 35mm Edge
Last years' match bat, starting to feel a little on the light side but it's a rocket so will see how I feel once nets start up as to whether it gets another season!
(https://i.postimg.cc/fbZk4Vc8/20210205-124834.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/4d23hwr0/20210205-124846.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
Neon Yellow (New) - Club Grade (Butterfly Cleft) - 2lb 8.4oz - 38mm Edge
Was originally picked out as a net bat based on pick up alone, but having started to knock it in it's got a serious chance of becoming my match bat - ridiculous.
(https://i.postimg.cc/d15hjJT4/20210205-124907.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
(https://i.postimg.cc/mrwkTTVB/20210205-124913.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
Neon TBC (New) - Pro Players Grade - 2lb 8.2oz (2lb 8.6oz once labelled) - 39mm Edge
Now I have a dilemma with this bat, quite frankly I'm struggling to justify keeping it for myself as the cleft would be absolutely wasted on me (something this rare deserves a better home!!). Depending on how the yellow goes this could very well end up back in with the rest of the other stock.

Softs
Neon Batting Gloves - Pink, White and Orange Variants
Pink gloves are being carried over from last season, bit of life left in them yet. The white gloves will be the next up with the orange gloves on hold pending the outcome of the Pro Players vs Yellow bat dilemma!
(https://i.postimg.cc/Fz2sTzFg/20210205-125913.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
Neon Batting Pads
Not much to say other than I'm treating myself to new pads after using the same pair for a few seasons. Absolutely love the new detailing and know these will last for as long as I want.
(https://i.postimg.cc/sf8Xj6PQ/20210205-125853.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
Misc Items
Neon Duffle Bag
Again a new one for 2021, planning to utilise the CoolZone for cans of Thatcher's finest haze (and the obligatory COVID teas Tesco meal deal).
Masuri OS2 Test Titanium (now T-Line)
Light, good vision, solid build quality - all round worth the cost
Ayrtek D3O Abdominal Guard
Can't rate the fit enough, just hope I don't have to use it!
Neon Catching and Technique Bats
Used for training and warm ups, how both of the clefts ended up being used for training bats I'll never know.
New Balance CK10s
Used last season after switching from using Adidas 22YDs for years, only wish I'd done it sooner - lighter and comfier, big thumbs up from me.

Cheers,
@potzy248 thank you, weight is 2.10, 37mm edge mid/high middle based the shape on the GM Vince players and in the edge template but this has a light amount of concaving to keep weight down.

couple of additions to the bat family this season, both 2.9 sigs from talent cricket - took advantage of their feb discount code.

I may have accidentally got my wallet out on Saturday.
Now on route/arrived are a middling bat, new thigh pads and keeping gloves from @Neon Cricket, GN Legend inners from Lorimers and a Wilson catching mitt from Amazon. I'm expecting to keep in a few midweek games this season hence the buy.
Once these bits all arrive and are out of quarantine (my parents are strict) I'll get pics of these and the blue neon gloves and refurb.

only the bats for now, im sure a few will be sold to make room for a few that are on the way though.

Some of the new ones Kookaburra by any chance? 😅

definitely a retro beast, have been on the hunt for a ridgeback as well but no luck so far. tempted by the GN retro ultimate but not seen any profile shots yet

The GN Ultimate is a lovely looking stick, have to say.

as long as its not mega concaved, im not good enough to start thinking about timing the ball

Mine 2lb 7oz low middle feels just the limit for me 😄😄

Not many changes from last year, other than new grips, a couple more pairs of gloves, Puma shoes rather than Payntr and NB, and a new green lid on its way. Certainly not enough to faff around with taking new pics.

Think this is one way of doing things right, using the same make, profile and the same to grade grade willow : there'll be no doubt in the mind and don't need any adjustments, very impressive!
-
Until it all goes wrong and I start blaming the bat and therefore EVERY bat! 🤣
-
Same kit as last year, but bought some new gloves, kook ghost Pro, and need new spikes, finding asics in size 12 not easy
-
Until it all goes wrong and I start blaming the bat and therefore EVERY bat! 🤣
"Oh no, now I have to buy 10 of another top grade bat" 😂
-
With such a huge investment you know what you're doing! You know you can't blame on them
I guess you're an opener or top order batsman, playing high level,
You're using Diamond for bat speed, for it's been a shorter blade.

BS PE isn’t a short blade.

I was going to add my unbranded kit to the OLS thread that was locked just as it was getting really interesting... economic sense of imported bats versus environmental impact of imported bats... none of which applies to softs as I’m guessing they are all imported from Asia.
So here goes... you will probably have more idea than me of the styles & designs - I like bats.
So apologies that I don’t know much about the kit. I just think it looks nice.
All men’s full size.

lovely sets of softs @tylo - those last set of gloves look very high quality too - v jealous!!!!

Finally got together the majority of my 2021 gear....been through about 10 or so bats over winter so this is by all means changeable...no prizes for guessing the company I chose for 2021 match gear😂
Bats - Keeley match bats white 2.11, NHS 2.9. Garrard and Flack 2.12 and net bat although looks an absolute belter so may make a Sunday appearance....supposed so be a 'sub-4' bat however I think it'd just been dropped in the workshop, would have probably been G2 if not G1 without (not bad for £55!). Personal preference I always go heaviest for net bat so match bats feel nice and light in the hands.
Also have another Grade 1 Keeley on its way to me which I may/may not keep depending....although its yellow so either way will be off to Keeley for a matching refurb if I'm not keen.
Gloves and pads - Match kit are superior Pads and Gloves as well as FF Worx gloves (for if I manage to bat long enough to sweat), G+F net Gloves were cheap as chips feel lovely....still after a pair of Keeley net pads.
Helmet - Steel shrey helmet from 2018....tempted by the titanium however only if its at the right price as tbh this steel one is spot on. Would never go back to Masuri after trying Shrey.
Others - Moonwalkr thigh pads, bought these simply because I liked the look and fancied something different to Aeros and New Balance 4030 spikes.
Both spot on, however I am trying to source Nike Domain 2.0's however this seems nearly impossible!
Hopefully pics are attached. I have been really good this year with the bats and kept it tight however I can always let go very quickly and end up with around 6...Keen to try a H4L Pro grade particularly.
Enjoy!

@t2ylo you got your match pads from me. I’m really glad you like them.👍
On a slightly different note, I read the posts on another thread regarding the price of softs etc with great interest. I got some pads & gloves made up in India because I wanted some high quality, unbranded softs. I’ve kept some of the pads & gloves for my own personal use but also ordered a few more sets just to try and maximise postage costs etc.
I love them, gloves have Pittard palms and in my opinion both the pads & gloves are of great quality. People seem to want things for nothing. The other thread mentioned branded gloves selling for £80+, I sold 2 pairs of the gloves on eBay for £32 each. I can guarantee you that once postage charges, import duties, then eBay and PayPal fees are taken into account, you make absolutely diddly squat on £32! 🥲
My intention was to make a 2nd, slightly bigger order but was just not worth my while.
Andy.

This then infers charging £70+ makes someone a decent amount?
-
Depends what you call decent mate. But you have your dues to pay and time factored in, shipping costs on larger volumes which are incredibly high and any other overheads for storage etc. Not to mention you're offering a fully designed product rather than blank, which has taken endless hours refining, messaging suppliers over finite detailing and just looking at some of the blank ones I can see different materials used. Not even touched upon after sales service if anything goes wrong.
It's not just as easy as buy for £30, whack em out for £70 and you've made £40.
-
I understand that - just from a consumer point of view, circa 50% increase in cost from 5/6 years ago, is difficult to swallow. Has the manufacturing cost increased that much?
-

If you're someone like Jonny and have your own branded goods, you'll have to pay: import charges, shipping costs from India, shipping costs to customer, time taken to contact manufacturer, time taken to sell all the stock, time taken to come up with designs and to figure out what kind of materials he would be happy to provide his customers, etc etc. On top of this, factor in the odd pair which won't quite be right - as they're made by humans (No matter how skilled, prone to having the odd mistake in sizing), ordering the right number of each size/dexterity. It's a large initial investment. On top of that, you'll have bundle sales, which cuts into profits. And then any leftover stock, you'll probably be lucky to break even with.
I have so many pairs of pads and gloves, and as good as the quality might seem initially from plain ones from OLS etc, for some of the brands, the quality of the PU, the instep, the materials for the knee cup, padding for straps and buckles, etc. You'll probably see a difference in these if you inspect both pairs side by side. (That being said, those plain pads and gloves look to be very high quality from the pictures) Most brands aren't out there to rob you blind - folk like Jonny are passionate about providing high quality cricket gear. (Have had chats with him, and the level of detail he goes into/amount of time he takes to make a decision is reflective of his passion) Please don't see the providing of softs from folk like him as 'making an easy buck' - it's quite a large business risk relative to the returns...
-
I suspect at least part of the problem is there's so many small companies out there pushing to get their softs sold and adding custom feature after custom feature which pushes the cost up. Maybe that's backed up by customer demand for it, but the value side of the market is fast disappearing.
-

This is a very fair point @edge - I've happily admitted on multiple occasions that the level of protection/features involved in my own softs are well above what is necessary for probably 90% of UK cricketers, and like you say unfortunately that comes at a cost.
I've looked at producing softs that would be more suited to your average cricketer and they'd certainly be more affordable, it's more an issue for me of if I'm willing to run 2 different ranges or not - softs take up a hell of a lot of physical space and I only have so much space in my current unit (and moving to a bigger unit in my area would be a pretty big jump in rental cost per square metre, which is obviously then counterproductive as the costs would need to be covered from somewhere!).
-

Not sure if that's a dig or not?! 😂 From my perspective it's about trying to offer the quality I'd be happy with and the features I'd want, along with a nice design. All that can't be done for £30, it's just not possible. Even the 'value' end can't be done for that alone and stay a viable business. I've seen cheaper softs from small companies and some of the ones above which I've had as samples of. I've dismissed them as the quality for me wasnt what I'd be happy to supply, even at a slightly lower price point.
So suppose it depends what people define as value. Cheap in my opinion isn't value, it's cheap. Just my opinion.
Let's also not forget most people don't create brands, companies to not make money. You have to, otherwise you won't be offering products. Nothing wrong with making profit, otherwise we'd all be working for free 😢
As Adam states above I think the bigger boys can offer value ranges easier as they have the resources to do so.
-
@jonny77 haha no not at all! I think you've got the wrong end of the stick when I say value though - I don't mean cheap, I mean a well-designed product that gives good enough performance while cutting back on some of the bells and whistles so that it can be sold at a better price. The equivalent of buying a G2/G3 match bat if you like, a G2 isn't gonna be cheap but gets you access to the pressing/shaping skills of a good batmaker for a lower price point than a beautiful G1 players bat - that's the value.
Certainly don't begrudge suppliers for selling top end gloves, given everyone is doing it there's clearly a consensus that it's the way forward from a business pov, and as you say that's the point after all! Just a shame for consumers (and by consumers I really mean me haha) that the £40/50 glove that has the necessary protection and comfort but a bit less pittards, embossing and carbon fibre effect seems to be a dying niche. Like you and Adam, most people are making the best softs they can - trouble is that's not always ideal for a clubbie on a budget.
-

I've used smaller brands for a while - because the product is good and cheaper than the big boys, who've got lots of sponsorship/free kit to cover for the pros. My perception is that the cost benefit between choosing a GM over a Neon for example has shrunk quite alot.
-
I understand that - just from a consumer point of view, circa 50% increase in cost from 5/6 years ago, is difficult to swallow. Has the manufacturing cost increased that much?
Cricket is just so damn expensive now. A store here is selling a bat for over $1000 USD.
-
This is why, I really can’t be bothered ordering softs,,,the work/hassle just isn’t worth the minuscule profit to be made
The small boutique brands have to do it, to compete in an incredibly small market, that’s constantly bombarded with special offers/deals etc from manufacturers via social media etc...
But for me, it would definitely take away the enjoyment I get from shaping bats and giving customers the best cricket bats ,,obviously in my opinion..
To offer a set of gloves at 30 quid is virtually impossible,,especially with import costs etc
Sports direct can do it for obvious reasons,,but they won’t be able to offer the boutique brands to the fkw out there.
It’s a tough gig for sure, and one that the smaller brands really have to be applauded for, for having a go.
The level of service they can offer for a given product is unmatched..
The whole cricket brand thing, is one done for the love, and certainly not for the money,,,hence the proliferation of brands that disappear after the realisation of the time/costs involved
-
@edge I was only messing mate, even if it was I wouldn't be offended. Well, not for long anyway! 😆
I think to offer a mid range or lower end range for smaller companies is difficult, as you still have roughly the same costs in terms of shipping, import duties etc so the costs wouldn't be that much cheaper to allow for the profit you'd need to remain a viable business. Bats are slightly different, as are a higher ticket item with more margin to offset different levels of product. As Adam said you also have the storage, plus stock forecasting for another range etc so you aren't left with excess in each range to sell at a loss more than likely. The value end is geared towards the big brands to be able to do this.
In terms of the costs becoming higher in the industry, I'm not sure i can explain as I'm a relative newcomer to it. However, you obviously work out your landed cost and what you feel is a reasonable price for the product, whilst bearing in mind you need to keep the lights on, in order to get your selling price. Hopefully theres value there but no doubt there won't be for everyone, which is fine.
@Northern monkey makes s very good point too. The need for a deal by consumers is also an important factor. When the first question is 'How cheap can you do it for' people will either inflate their price on a generic product from what it should be to allow for a deal but yet still sell at their target price, or will try to offer more value at a higher price by providing a quality product, service and an individual design unique to them.
-
How do the economies of scale work here?
If say Neon ordered 1000 pairs of top pads & gloves, and tried to disrupt the market at like £80 bundle, 40/35 individual cost, would that work?
-

That's a pretty enormous risk for a small business owner to take, regardless of whether it would work or not. Bear in mind as well that if you're talking about competing with the big boys, 1000 pairs of softs is not really taking much market share away from GN, GM and Kookaburra, let alone the non-specialist makers with enormous budgets behind them such as Adidas.
-

nail on head.....plus ebay used to be a good source of genuine used but life left options but now items vary due to scammers and those bumping up the price. I have two lads so working out really expensive currently

It really wouldn't be worth anyone's trouble at that. Factoring in time, packaging them, after sales care etc and having the means to sell them. You'd make a loss and then not be able to sell them at your usual price later on, as everyone would expect you to sell at the lower price, or you would compromise on quality.
-
To give some of you an idea and to be as transparent as possible I’m just waiting on my first batch of softs to arrive and that’s 10
Pairs of pads and gloves. Shipping is £4.50 per kg and the weight is 75kg so shipping is £340 for 20 items so you have to add at least £17 per item on top of original cost of each item before you even look to make a profit. So if your a slightly bigger small brand that may for example order 50 pairs of gloves and 30 pairs of pads let alone wk kit, bags etc the delivery costs are huge potentially. I also assume there will be some custom charges to pay on top.
The costs in India have in recent years become a lot higher than previously due to the crack down on the smaller brands over there and what I believe to be tax related and these companies all now being registered to checked in a lot more detail.
I will in-line with my company ethos offer the items at a fair price for what the consumer wants to pay and I’m lucky this is a hobby and not a main source of income at all but to even try and offer gloves for £30 in small quantities is impossible and can easily see how they can get to £70+
If your needing to make a livelihood profit.
Anyway if anyone is interested they should be here in a week or so and I’ll hopefully offer a quality product at a fair price for both me and the customer.
-
This then infers charging £70+ makes someone a decent amount?
My main point was that even asking £35 for a pair of new gloves, people were reluctant to pay it!
I am not a business and purely ordered a few more sets as I wanted to order some softs that I wanted, for my own personal use so went direct to a couple of manufacturers.
Of course, brands have all the overheads that come with running a business, however big or small!

When discussing shipping costs with the supplier I used, the main way for further savings is shipping by sea as @Vulcan Cricket mentions. To do this though requires a larger order and much better planning for to the extended lead times.👍
-
Well then, how many softs would CBF need to order to fill a half size sea can? :D
-
Do people buy pads/gloves as often as bats?
I buy a fair few bats and then shift them on, although not like some on here. Gloves usually last me about 3 seasons, but I do like them to match my bat. Pads however I hardly ever change. I'm 51 now and since the age of 14 I've only had 4 sets of pads. :o This is partly because I'm a shorty and find getting pads that fit very difficult. Small mens can often still be too big and lots of youth sized have straps designed for stick thin kids. But I've had a pair of Newbery GT's for about 6 years, and apart from sweat stains on the inside, still look like new.
-
that's why you need to ship by sea lot cheaper
I did briefly look into trying to get a sea freight option but had it’s drawbacks as well with the main one being time and also various other issues.
This is a trial run to see if softs ate a viable option for me going forward, of they prove popular then further avenues to be explored next time if however the softs market isn’t one that’s viewed as being viable further on then it’s a worth while excessive and expense. Even if it just means I have enough softs to last me the rest of my life and that of my children I’m quids in at £70 for top end gloves and pads anyway lol.
-
My main point was that even asking £35 for a pair of new gloves, people were reluctant to pay it!
This is the power of branding. They could be the same design and quality as an established brands gloves but because they are missing the “branding” I believe lots don’t trust or want to purchase what is no doubt a perfectly good product.
Power being Slazenger bats vs NB bats, made in the same factory side by side but Slazenger is associated with Sports Direct so time lots maybe cheap and of poor quality. NB however associated with Steve Smith, Jason Roy, Joe Root so must be decent. Just my view anyway on the power of branding.
-
I don't think softs are of that importance at this time, in current environment etc,
It's better to concentrate on one thing, being bat maker, which will help your brands get recognition and you'll become strong, financially.
Then you could think of making own softs, bags etc.

This thread has derailed a fair bit - and I have been guilty of contributing to said derailment.
Here is another set of kit I intend on using this season...
A bit excessive as always, why anyone would need 7 of the same bat model - who knows... If there is one thing Alex @thebigginge and Co at GN know how to do, it's how to extract performance out of a cleft! These are all VERY consistent in their performance, with subtleties in what each shape offers. All dubbed 'Ceiling Hazards' by myself:

Oh Chad, man!
Unbelievable!
Enjoy them all ❤️❤️
Only question why there is no Kronus in your collection? 😀😀
-
One more question Chad, have you ever broke a bat? Any pics?
-
a fantastic set(s) of kit - those e41s were the best gloves, i wish i'd realised at the time and brought about 10 pairs - not worn a nicer pair of gloves since!!!

Jesus man, your collection never ceases to amaze.
Wish GN did a significantly shorter blade bat other than the Pro Performance model, something so appealing about their stickers but £400+ for a bat is stretching my will to badger 😅

2lb 9oz to 2lb 7oz, from right to left.
Nothing spectacular but special bats, I feel 🙂

We call cars 'high performance' cars, don't think there's anything wrong with saying that a batmaker has extracted performance out of a cleft. ???

Good stuff that Chad love these bats and the "few others you have in your loft"
If I had to pick one it be the middle oblivion stealth but top class.

Blimey. How much is that GN armory worth?!

If I hand you kohli’s bat and ur facing archer, will you be able to score runs because you have performance in your bat? Performance is just a marketing trick to fool the customers In my opinion.

Then you have definitely chosen the wrong forum.

So you believe that any bat ever made will respond as well as any other bat ever made? Or do you realise what a nonsensical claim that is?
'Performance' is used in this context to describe a bat that will respond well if you hit the ball cleanly, that is obvious unless you want to wilfully misinterpret the description. There's no "marketing speak" involved simply because a bat is described as performing well.
-
Please can we keep this thread as one with pictures of kit.
Start a new thread if you want to discuss the merits of talent, technique and bat performance please.
Although I can't imagine it will be a long one as pros don't seem to like rubbish bats.

That is a remarkably pleasant collection of GN bats. MAXX #3 is absolutely glorious.

@Chad . I'm not jealous, honest ;-)
Are we ever going to see the 'My better half wants me to clear the spare room/garage/floor/house of cricket gear sale'?

Can you share some more details please @AJ2014
How much did you pay?
Who made it?
How whippy or stiff is the handle?
What is the purpose of the tape on the bottom?
How many times did you hit it in that hour of knocking?
You say you're only going to use it in the dry weather. Would you ask for a different one to be run our if it clouded over?
-

As a junior when playing age group county cricket I was lucky enough to be sponsored by rob and still use him today that’s after being released 10 years ago, I’ve never had a dud bat and that’s from using butterflies to grade 1 willow. Personally I think the maroon & gold refurb labels are the best he’s produced so far. Very classy!

Also like the Choice Willow bat in an earlier post. Are they good bats?

Yep I have kept wicket used Hunts kit for over 25 years now. Can't beat it in terms of quality value for money and fit if you want a snug glove.

I love my Choice it is still going strong after 4 seasons now. They are old stickers but the new ones are still in the same style.
Gary is a great batmaker and the softs are up there with the best of the boutique small brands. There are a pair of Choice gloves in the photo as well, and I have a pair of pads in the garage which are too old now!
This is a post I did on the Choice gear when I originally got it in 2017, including the bat.

Good afternoon cricketers!
Thought approx 6 years was long enough to post something on here. Good to see some familiar people still here and doing well!
This is literally my kit for the coming season, having spent a few years off with only 4/5 games in that time I can't wait to get going next week.
I can't believe how much prices have inflated in just a couple of years so looks like this will be all I have for as long as it lasts.

GM Purist, almost dead. Bat I scored my first 100 with over 10 years ago now so a bat close to my heart - still gets the odd run out.
Ayrtek, restickered New Balance something or another. Won it in a club raffle, ok but not amazing. Good enough to get 100 with though.
Affinity Cricket softs. Sad to see Marcus has had to shelf the cricket gear as I really like/d the gear.
Ayrtek lid. Tom will know how long I've had this but must be 10+ years. wouldn't change it for anything.
Was disappointed to see Asics have left the cricket market as I need spikes, I guess Adidas will have to do!
Cheers all - hope to be on here a lot more often this season.

Here's my main gear for the league season - plain and simple Bradbury softs, Strettons, NB tennis shoes spiked up. Bats are two I shaped myself, favourite on the left which is mid-refurb and fear is not long for this world, a short blade number and an old bat I did a weight reduction on that serves as faithful backup.

Nice to see the collection Chad!

I do love the GN range this year. I hope someone buys the Test Originals softs and retro bats so we can have a review on here!

That Purist is beautiful. My favourite GM bat of all time! (and welcome back!)

Smallest ever kit collection in my match bag.
Single bat at the moment from last season & my own brands pads and gloves.

Finally getting my kit together properly for the season and making a few decisions on what's going into the match bag for the year. Fair bit of new stuff for this year as lockdown boredom had me feeling a bit spend-y.

Bats
BlankBats B4 (Phantom Stickers) - 2lb 8.5oz - Tidied this one up myself after last year, had it for a couple of seasons and still going along nicely despite some questionable running repairs. Handle has been cut down by about 0.75 inches.
Scott Custom G3 - 2lb 9.5oz - Stickered as a G2 and honestly I think a lot of manufacturers would have graded as a G2, lovely bat and only going to get better I reckon. Shorter blade, very slightly longer handle to give an overall approximately harrow length.
JN Garrard G2 - 2lb 10.5oz - Slightly heavier bat, haven't had a chance to use it in anger yet but taps up very nicely.
Softs/Protection
Neon Pads - Small Mens size, really comfortable, shorter straps which I need with my chicken legs, and loads of really nice touches.
OLS Unbranded gloves - Picked up a couple of pairs a while ago to try and found they're the best fit of any gloves I've tried so far so they've stuck. Not playing at a very high standard I don't really need top protection.
Aero P2 Strippers - Tried P1s but they just felt too bulky, perfect mix between confidence that I'm not going to get a sore one and being able to move easily.
New Balance CK4020s - Heard good things about the NB rubber shoes and was looking for a slightly comfier alternative to my Payntrs, fingers crossed they're as comfy in games and training as they are wearing them in around my flat.
Masuri C-Line Plus - Bit of a rarety, a lightweight helmet that fits on my fat head 😅 very comfy, much more breathable than my old Kookaburra and fits over my glasses easily.
Bag
Select Black Label Wheelie - Really nice bag especially for the price I paid. Had asked about one of Select's Black Friday deals on another bag but they told me it didn't have as many padded bat pockets as I wanted. Matt from Select very generously offered to match the sale price on a newer model bag and very pleased with it so far. The cool pocket is a nice touch now that bringing your own tea is the norm. One slight issue is the lack of a separate shoe tunnel/pocket but that's a very minor sticking point as the rest of the bag is excellent.

Nice kit, my guess is you'll use Scott bat!

The more I think about that profile, the more I think it shoold be a stock one. Remember the pick up being lovely! 😆

@jonny77 It picks up arguably better than the BB which is a whole ounce lighter and already picks up pretty well. I was already pretty set on the shorter blade setup but this bat reinforced it for sure.

Great feedback mate. Made myself a shorter blade/harrow length for this season and it feels great, so be good to see hope they both go

Here we go finally.
Adidas spikes came this morning so got to take a picture of everything together
Bats
M&H C200 (yellow stickers)- 2.8 and big for the weight. 7-8 perfectly straight grains. Tried to move this on last week and so glad I didn’t, I’ve used it in about 3-4 nets now and it’s genuinely up there with the best I have had. Avoided making a huge mistake!
M&H F200 (blue stickers)- 2.9ish. 14 lovely straight grains. My last years bat, didn’t get much use, it’s nice but a little hard still and will now serve as a net bat. I had a little bit of weight taken out of the back of this as it was a little heavy.
Pads
M&H S100 pads- would like to have replaced these to freshen the full look up but they didn’t get much use last year so can’t justify it
Gloves
M&H S200 gloves- this years match gloves, the best of the millichamp range of gloves in my opinion
M&H S100 gloves- last years match gloves, will now serve as a net and backup pair
M&H CS300 gloves- used these in nets last year and decided to spray them, it went reasonably but some rough areas. Likely to just be used in training but possibly for T20 if I’m feeling brave.
Protection
Shrey air steel helmet with club crest
Moonwalker thigh pads- couldn’t recommend these enough, light and great protection and sit very nicely on your body
Spikes
Adidas 22 yards- will be used to bat in
NB CK4030- will be used for fielding
I have other bits, sidearm, fielding pads as I do some short leg stuff but nothing that interesting.
Hope you like the pictures

only the Kooks were bought, the GMs were from Talent cricket a few months ago
Not the best looking bats but really pleased with the ping and pickup, both were 2.9 dead weight with nice full profiles.
Couldnt deal with the grip on the Concept so had to swap that (https://flic.kr/p/2kTtLxb)

"suddenly found myself in Romida"
I know that feeling well!!
Where were you playing golf, there are some serious courses around there.
-
played clandon @Buzz struggling to get a decent tee time anywhere round here.
Clandon would be great if the facitilies were better, course is in great condition.
only 10 mins from leatherhead as well

Little late for the start of the season but here is 2021's kit!

Bats
GM Maestro (B3 1271 edited by Ed Garrard, simply dropped the shoulders an inch) 2lb 10. Stunning bat!
Slaz v100 (Mongoose Cor 3) 2lb 11. Its a big bit of wood!
Slaz retro V12 - one of the original batch made by DF. Not part of numbered release however, again a top bat!
G&F technique bat- 2lb 8 unreal ping and number of grains, but it must have been one heavy cleft to start with.
Pads GM OLE 2019 release?
Gloves
GM OLE x 2 (different years)
Newbery Kudos (black)
Lid - still rocking a Masuri Ti with moveable grill.
Thigh pads- kook pro release from 2014.
SPIKES
Batting shoes- Adidas Adizero Ubersonic 3 Ltd Edition (Edberg)
Bowling shoes- Adidas Predators 19.1 White outs.
Bonus Content (How good do these look!)

Nice kit.
Love these GM stickers!
Had to choose between Maestro and Diamond, when they came out, bought Diamond, for it's revolutionary profile and it's top grade willow, but always felt more for Maestro!
-
Not posted one of these for a few years. Working from home and the wife at work has given me a good excuse to get all the kit out.

Bats
Vulcan. The one with the face showing is absolutely incredible! Made for a player in New Zealand who plays for Central Stags - he went for another which freed this up. Could well be the best bat I ever own
Pads
Adidas Adipure - really nice, leather instep, all cane. Black straps so hopefully the straps stay a nice colour
Sovereign - Round cane, Robinson made. Great pads
Gloves
Adidas from Online Stockists, Sovereign to match the pads and Vulcan to go with the bats.
Helmet
Shrey Masterclass Air
Thigh pads
Custom made Remfry. Spoke to Luke about getting one made which was a couple of CM shorter than his standard ones, no problem at all and fits like a dream
Spikes
Spiked up Asics runners
-
Love the minimalist look of those bats.
Who's the player from the Stags if you're allowed to say?
-
It's a quiet day in South Wales and after taking some pictures of my kit (which couldn't ever possibly rival Chad's piano backdrop) I thought I'd let you know about the latest kit I've acquired.
Really delighted with some recent pickups over the last month or two. Fully taken advantage of some clearance sales and offers so now I'm ready for the 2022 season, minus a couple of bits and bobs like helmet and bag, but who knows what Black Friday might throw up?!
I am midway through knocking in the Scott, so will provide a separate review when I get an idea of performance against a cricket ball and not just hours of whacking with a mallet. I'll try to include some specs as well. What I can announce, however, is how much of a delight the two batmakers were to deal with. Nothing but overwhelming levels of service, so thank you both.
The bats
(https://i.postimg.cc/Tp29gR9s/IMG-6410.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/Tp29gR9s)
In short, the Scott is beautifully finished, feels lovely in the hands and has a great pickup. The Willow & Wand feels incredible off the mallet and the handle feels just right in my hands, which is brilliant, considering it was an online purchase. I am really impressed with the stickering for both bats too. They feel like high quality stickers and are clean and simple. The Willow & Wand sticker has a lovely effect in sunlight.
The softs
(https://i.postimg.cc/vDhKp22p/IMG-6413.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/vDhKp22p)
The Red Ink pads were an absolute bargain at 30GBP. The design is traditional, they arent particularly heavy either and the branding isn't in your face. The feel comfortable to wear too, what more could I ask for?!
The gloves I bought for 40GBP after getting into contact with Jonny. The leather is Pittard and the design is nice and simple, again. I like my softs to be traditional, not too glaring in terms of colour. Even Gray Nicholls checkered pattern is a bit much for me. The gloves feel lovely on the hand, I haven't got the biggest mitts so there is a little bit of space inside the glove.
I'm sure the protection on these products is more than adequate for the quality of cricket I play, so no need to talk about that.
In summary, some lovely new pieces from members of the forum and overwhelmed by the quality of gear :D

There’s something very satisfying as a consumer, buying from a small brand, and even more so when that brand is part of a small community.
The fact of the matter is that without discovering CBF, I wouldn’t have caught whiff of these brands, but in doing so I’ve managed to grab some great bargains of high quality. Everyone’s a winner!
