Just imagine, he gets home and his wife says 'darling I've got a surprise for you. You know those old bats that were cluttering up the place...'  :o

Managing local LMS league one guy has a stunning Ridgeback - complete with green grip.  I had to tell him during one innings that he has no idea how good that bat looks from 22 yards away!  As a 20-something who yearned for one in the 90s it is a thing of beauty...

I'm right with you there Jamie. You're showing excellent taste as usual mate  :D

I spent my younger days idolising Dean Jones, like many young Aussies in the late 80s / early nineties, and spent ages chasing one down all these years later. I found a nice one, although it's a bit too thin and light for me to use in a game. Display only.

^ That's the one mate - carbon copy and a very nice specimen!

Before I was old enough or had enough of my own pocket money to buy my own bat, my old man flat out refused to buy me the more expensive Kook bats, so I had to settle for the cheaper Gray Nics ones.  Probably explains my affinity and aversion to the two brands now!

It's funny how we end up this way. My first serious bat was a size 6 V100 in the late 80s and, all these years later, am using all Slazenger gear and have about 6 Slazenger bats!

Ditto - my first serious bat was a size 6 GM maestro followed by a Harrow GM maestro... now I am head to toe pretty much in GM stash, first 50 and 100 was with a County mind...

My first bat was a maestro too, as was my first car, both were rubbish!
