Given the number of Vintage Bats I now have stashed away, I am tempted to arrange a CBF net session at the Oval in late October for a Vintage Bat Off. The only willow allowed has to be Vintage Willow...

How vintage does the bat have to be? My oldest (and first ever) bat is only 6 years old from new.

We'r'e talking 80s and 90s really. Anything that is proper old school, before anyone had thought of overdrying or concaving...

I would be worried about breaking my bats :(

Fattus can bowl his gentle inswingers and you can just defend against them... That should protect your bats!

That rules mine out then, although mine is actually quite traditional in shape and size. I'd have to borrow someone else's. That would mean having some major paranoia about breaking their bat though.

Great idea. Gutted I threw out my canvas pads at the start of the season. shame it's not nearer me. If anyone wants to borrow a 2.6 SS Turbo for the event let me know.  I would be happy that it was being used, no blame should anything untoward happen. looks knackered but 100% solid. Goes like the clappers too.

So here's something a little more.... Conventional. A decent acquisition thanks to Gumtree, here we have a GN Optimum 1000 Megastrike. Must be about 20 years old and given its size, it's fairly heavy on the pick up, even with a slight duckbill toe. It's certainly a well oiled example!

I've got one exactly the same but it hasn't been used at all. I'll try to upload some pics

I'd happily have a crack in the nets with it, if of course I can afford/get the day off to get myself down to the oval.
If anyone in Greater Manchester/Lancs regions would be interested in doing the same at Old Trafford then i'd be down for that as well.

I recently acquired this Slazenger V12 5 Star.
It's really light and has a great pick up.
I'm going to use it in a match next season.
