So got hold of this today

I assume it isn't Graphite as that isn't mentioned anywhere on it, so guess it is fibreglass as definitely isnt a sticker.

Have you got any profile/face pics?

Black gloss paint?
Whatever the back is it looks a nice stick in decent condition for the age

@Chalkie That's one of the black gloss paint editions. The ones with Graphite or Fibreglass state it on the bat, as can be seen here: http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=11959.msg599994#msg599994

@tim2000s thanks for your comment on this.

I'm no paint expert but not sure how they can do such a seamless job on this - it's not like the one in this thread where it had been painted then stickers applied.

Couple more close up pictures - in the first one you can see a fabric weave in the green. Would be good if we could compare to a close up of the fibreglass ones you have?

This is the painted one

@hit4six could you share a photo of your fibreglass one for comparison?

Guys,

Surely someone on here has a fibreglass version they can take a photo of to compare to the one I have - keen to see if there is any difference.

Thanks

@Chalkie I found some other backed bats on eBay for comparison. I don't know if this is any help or not.

@WalkingWicket37  thanks mate, good research there. Looks like the warrior and big Kahunas, plus the Genesis had a coating but no wording to describe what it was made of. These coatings look similar to mine.

Then some including the Ricky P and angry beast ones state what the coating is. The one that was marked as Graphite seemed to have a different finish to the others, so maybe the rest are fibreglass?

Does anyone know which series of bats came out first?

Did you notice the 2 ads for the Genesis seemed to be the same bat, someone made a good profit there.

Believe it's the mid grade - IIRC they were lowest grade Super, Mid-grade Select and top grade 5*. Then later the Ultimate came along.

@tim2000s, a mate has a V500 classic, any idea where that came in terms of the range grading?

I had a SXI and Pure Blade classic and they were the entry level bats I know in that time there were 3/4 levels with ultimate being the top and classic the bottom with something like pro in the middle then panther being jnr entry level stuff

Couple of new vintage purchases from eBay this week.

Unfortunately the Slaz isn't the cats eyes version, but does have the groves on the back and in decent condition.

The Salix was a custom with Venom stickers, dating from circa 1994. Some damage to this one but just needs a little glue in the toe. Has the thickest handle I have seen on a bat, very oval at the bottom.

Both bats weigh just over 2.9

Nice. That Salix and the V800 look particularly nicely-grained.
