gm issue
« on: June 07, 2011, 09:03:30 PM »

First of all a lot of you may know the issues i had with my 2011 le batting gloves when the stitching on the padding on the index finger fell apart when i first used them. I wasn't happy that the high prices these gloves cost, was not reflected in their quality, but I decided to stand by them as I like using Traditional British brands. Today, however a similar thing happened to my 2011 le pads which has sickened me. The stitching surrounding the logo on the pads has come loose on the front pad so the logo is hanging from the knee roll. I have had enough. I expect better from 165 quid worth of softs. I feel that my money deserves better than this. I am not willing to accept anything other than a refund from GM directly- I refuse to send them to my retailer because it is not their problem. It is a manufacturing and company problem. I feel that GM only listen to their retailers and do not listen to the customers.

Here's the pads..... You can find the gloves elsewhere on the forum

Would it not sicken you if you'd paid this much for top of the range softs? the gloves used once then fall apart and the pads open up  after a max of 15 short uses. I would't mind, i haven't slid in them and my top score this season is 39...........

I'm with Pumakid, I did make a thread that the quality of this years GM softs is not very good.

I didn't have any issues yet but the quality is seriously poor

No, a cat painted blue and stapled to a telegraph pole would sicken me or a hamster placed in a microwave...a pair of expensive pads where the stitching is coming apart after limited use would annoy me but it wouldn't make me feel sick :D

So have you spoken to GM about them then?

Emailed them but no response. I'm just waiting for them to tell me to talk to my supplier which I feel is wrong because the problem is with them, not the supplier. I feel more than annoyed. I'm 17, got a low paid part time job and when I buy expensive things, I expect them to last

First port of call is contacting GM first, surely?

Perhaps by giving them a chance to sort the problem out before outing them here you may have stood more of a chance of a happy resolution. After all, GM can't fix a problem if they don't know about it.

Edit, if this happen today as you state, and you have emailed them, you've not really given them long to respond.

They ask you to return and speak to the retailer as that's who your contract of sale is with and therefore the problem does involve them.

I think Edward being on this forum tells us they do listen to the end consumers and I imagine he'll be most helpful in getting it resolved. But there are correct channels in getting things like this sorted.

I've already emailed them. A very dissatisfied customer should be able to voice his view where appropriate. That shouldn't determine whether they resolve my issue. We'll see how good their customer service is based on the outcome..

OK some may think i'm being harsh, but as i've said this is the second time in several months this has happened. Ok so my contract of sale is with the shop but the issue is with the brand. I want to see how they react and what they do to try and resole such an issue

Olly, 2 wrongs don't make a right.

GM will sell many thousands of pads and gloves each year and some will have faults as no one yet has perfected perfection. The fact that you have had 2 items with stitching problems does not prove beyond doubt they cannot make a decent pad or glove, it more likely points to the fact that you have been very unlucky.

I think you should have a good think about your post as it is not fair and balanced, nor will it induce a positive reply, if it were aimed at me I'd not even bother speaking to you but instead point you to the place of purchase.

I don't see how you expect a member of the forum to read this and pull any strings.

Had you taken them back to the shop, they'd have been replaced. What more needs resolving about your own issue?

I'm not trying to come across as acting over the top. I can't come across as being happy and dismissive because I feel that I have been seriously mugged off with poor quality goods. I just want to know whether I am really unlucky or is it a bigger problem. I don't want Edward or any other GM representative to think i'm being unfair, but I want them to take my points and use them to help them improve and stop such issues from happening again. I know for a fact there are many more people than me and coverdrive that have had problems.

What would stop them from having the same problems though?

How many people feel the need to write a thread saying that they bought pads and they were fine, the majority is usually silent.....

You have been unlucky.
