Was pretty fun in our inter-club game today. Due to starting with 16 people we decided to do a 2 innings per side game, the 'oppo' batted first and got 44 in their 16 overs, our 1s opener breaking his new GN Oblivion 5 star on it's first outing. I managed to get 1-10 off of my 4 over allocation. We then batted and got 87 from our 16 overs, came in for the last 2 overs and got 10* off of 8 balls so a nice not out and high strike rate to start the season.

We had a 20 minute interval for 'tea' or pop to Subway/KFC/Greggs/Tesco over the road.

As we were so far ahead we decided that both teams would bat their last 16 over allocation regardless of scores. I kept for our second fielding innings and got a stumping and a few byes, and dropped a catch stood up which I should've taken even for a crap keeper. We ended up winning by over 100 and unfortunately I didn't get in for our second batting innings :(

FREEZING COLD!

oppo called the game off due to weather while we were driving to the game. However, bumped in our neighbours St Chads CC and discovered they had been equally shafted so arranged a short notice match. 30 overs a side and we fielded first. For 15 overs we bowled and caught like drains, but restricted them to 111-8 in 30. We were going steady at 21-1 off 8 when we collapsed to 26-5 and never really recovered, being bowled out for 92 in 27 overs. Batted like utter morons against a very average attack on a flat deck, but in truth we we gave them 50 runs when we bowled.

think I had an early contender for unluckiest dismissal of the year - taking a routine single to the old guy at midwicket when he kicks the ball at the stumps 15-20 yards away with only one stump visible...and wastes the lot.

Don't think its good form to laugh walking off, but what can you do?

I've had more bats than seasons I've played haha

I realised the other day that after starting cricket again halfway through last season I have had 8 bats since then.

Lost a friendly yesterday, and the match was followed by a bar brawl between the 2nd XI captain and one of his players... there's never a dull moment at our club

1st game of the season today against a Westlands team missing their best player. batted first on a green top, hit 160-5, then bowled them out for 80 odd. Didn't get a bat unfortunately as the skipper wanted to look at some of the newer faces at the club and work on some batting plans, although he did ask me to bowl a few overs, which I kindly declined as it would have turned an OK performance into a bad one, and with me bowling, it could have been a lot closer to 160 than it looked lol.

Who got runs mate?

Boggo had 30, Tilley had 36, Jake Hayes got 20, Fiss got 20, and that was about it. Typical early season pitch.

watch our 2nd string today and we got 173 ao in 40 overs, notable for Simmy collecting a duck (and 2 others as we were 8-3 off 10 overs). Oppo may have regretted tossing it up for a few overs mid innings, as we bowled them out for 123 lol. Interesting looking at the team strengths, they (east leeds) were pretty much a Central Yorkshire League 2nd XI with 1 first team batter and 1 decent bowler. We are a Wetherby Div 6 scratch 2nd XI (excluding Simdog) and for most of the game I watched you would've thought it was the other way round.

Played my first game today, was supposed to be a second team game but I was asked to play. Batted till drinks (22 overs) then me and my parter were retired after putting on a 130 opening partnership, I hit 75 not out and he hit 53 not out. I tried to get an extra 5 overs to go for my hundred but they won't having any of it. We ended up 270 all out and then we bowled them out for a very long and boring 120.
