He didn't have to give it away!
He could have (and should have) retired his innings and kept his dignity! That would prove he's a bigger man than if he bullies a lower standard team to destruction, which is what he did.
It's fine that he wanted batting practice, but 100 retired would have surely given him enough.

Hmm I disagree having never seen anyone retire in Saturday league cricket.  Plus, giving it away would have given someone from the oppo the prize of his wicket.

Hi GBD19, I was actually playing for Davy Mckee's last year for a bit.

I moved to MWCC this year and now play for them midweek as well.

Vinit looks to be playing for our 3rd team, although i've seen his name etc i've never actually played a game with him.

Always heard he was a good bloke but yeah, think he was a bit below his level this time!

Looks like you got me out last year mate, I was the tall bloke who basically hits everything across line to leg. I got 36 and 46 against you before you denied me a 50.

I played in a few 'beer' games over the years and sensibly they usually had a 25 and out rule (or 30 if you got to 24 and struck a lordly blow. But obviously that is very different to league cricket, these were purely social games and the rules were there to keep them sociable.

What prize would that be exactly? The batsmen GIVING his wicket to a poor helpless bowler?

If you really can't see what is wrong with this then you need to look again....

when we play sunday friendlies we normally retire guys at 100, unless we are really struggling wickets wise. Simmy got retired after 20 odd overs in one friendly last season lol

Absolutely! Couldn't agree more! Better to retire! It's a little derogatory to 'gift' your wicket away on purpose - like something you'd do to a 5 year old! Retire on 100 and you have had your batting practice and the game is still not a complete lost cause for the opposition!
It's very different if the player was a normal 2nd XI player and was just having a superb day and had been dropped 15 times! But it looks pretty obvious what the situation was here!

Sorry Graham, i thought you meant you had played for Malin Bridge in that game.

I can remember bowling against you now.

My bowling days are finished now however!

I think one of the key points is that they batted the full 50 overs. I don't know what the rules are in this league, but I would imagine that a declaration could be made?

Exactly Pete! A 'big time charlie' throwing his weight around, probably because he got bullied at school. The bloke in question is a complete tool!

we had a similar situation last season in a friendly. The oppo batted first on a good deck and the aussie overseas batted/crawled his way to 100 in about 32/33 overs. We stuck on our worst 3 non-cricketers to bowl and thought he would take a hint...he didn't and racked up 170 something not out. Made my blood boil as when he got a 100 they were only 2 down with 7/8 overs to go and they never once considered giving the other guys a bat. Mood wasn't helped when chasing 320 in 40 overs, they put 4 guys on the boundary after 3 overs. Simmy still scored 50 in 6 overs lol, but we were bowled out for 220 in 30 overs.

They've promised no overseas this season and it's a nice spot so all good in the end.

How would the bowler know if he played around a straight one on purpose?  Like I said, I've never heard of anyone retiring in a competitive southern league match.  I also quite clearly said earlier he should have stopped after 100.  Don't turn this on me, I was posting a relevant ridiculous scorecard, and similarly saying the guy was clearly "bullied at school" is a bit off if you've never met him and don't know the full story.  Neither do I but there seems to be no personal attack and schoolboy name-calling on any other of the scores.
