I know the level of the chiltern league and a 2nd XI game will be real village stuff. 266 is good going at any level but freak scores smack of somebody playing well below his level. Wonder how he has done in other matches?

Bet they wish they hadn't have bowled first now!

Ouch!

Thats odd. Arshad latif normally plays for stokenchurch in our division in the cherwell. He's had a few big scores this year including a league double ton. We had him caught at slip for 8 on saturday though, so no damage done!

if u look at his stats it shows an innings in the 1st team aswell so i highly doubt he's a 2nd teamer

To be fair, the other team gave it a good shot!

nearly 500 runs scored before the first wicket fell...

Must have been an absoloute road they were playing on, surely the bowling couldn't have been that bad?!

350 avarage for Latif in that team as it stands now!

What satisfaction do these blokes get from butchering cricketers that are obviously well below their level? That'd be like me (a third team player) taking 8 wickets or scoring 150 against a bunch of kids. I'd get no satisfaction out of that whatsoever.

i could not agree more tail ender, well said

you would hope colts and youngsters did not play in the game where the guy got 266

any decent level cricketer should not get any satisfaction from that

Theres a very fine line between being a very good cricketer at a particular level and being someone who is taking the proverbial at the level.  For the most part, clubs are pretty decent about this sort of thing, usually guided by the principle that noone drops a player who could be scoring hundreds for the ones into their threes etc, but there are some obvious "mistakes" such as the Dave Taylor incident...

Come to think of it, I dropped this lad from the week before...

I don't mind that as the 2 guys who scored the runs didn't have a great average and the guy who hit the double ton had a highest score of 58 before that knock. The other guy who hit a ton looks as though that was his first ton as well.
What must the bowling have been like!  :o

The losing team only had 8 players, the guy that went for well over 100 runs hadn't bowled for that team since 2007 so was clearly part-time at best and with 6 fielders they were always going to get smashed around.

Playing cricket with 8 players is never fun. having spent last season with most games having 8, it always bugged me how the opposition captain wanted to bat first. it was clear they was going to win and smash us around with the gaps in the field. but this form of posting a massive score which a team of 8 players is not going to get just destroys the game. this often puts the younger players into a bad mindset about the game and may not want to play games. At many of our levels cricket is played for enjoyment as for many of us our county days are far behind us.
