14 a/o off 30 overs in a 40 over game in my league the other week.

Strange to have a team all out after 3/4 of the innings, scoring that few runs!

Would like to have a look at the pitch as the opposition lost 3 wickets getting the runs. I hope for all involved that tea was good!

One of the things that really annoys me about cricket in this game.  For context Dales Council Division B is an average to below average standard of cricket certainly nowhere close to pushing the premier league standards and the visiting team is a third team.
Hundreds for both opening batsman as the home team racks up 414 in 40 overs, fair play lads well batted.  Nice bit of hitting for number 4 with a quickfire 66 as well, no issues with what they've done there.  Not content with hitting 168 has to open the bowling and send down 12 overs.  108 opening the batting, give me 11 overs first change please skip.  66 at number 4, let me open as well.
336 runs between the three of them and then they bowl 30 of the available 40 overs in the second innings!  No wonder there is a struggle in retaining players when you see things like that, can't be much fun for the majority of players in that game.
Maybe they had literally nobody else who could bowl but personally I would be embarrassed to even be asked to open the bowling in those circumstances.

This is my Saturday team, but unfortunately I wasn't playing, so missed an amazing performance.

To put this game into context, we'd played the same team in the league the week before. We had them 51-4, before one of their guys came in and smashed 155 off 79 balls. They finished 293-4 and skittled us for 93. Well, we certainly got our revenge on Saturday. Our guy, Will, who starred is still at school and has hardly played this year due to school match commitments. He's a fine player, but even for him 146 and 5-5 are quite extraordinary.

The league informed us that it's the second highest winning margin in the leagues history.  :D

Game in Worcs div 8 west yesterday.  545 in 45 overs is ridiculous. They got 450 the week before. The opener played against my team last season and scored 271 for a different club. Clearly some players playing at a standard way below what they should be playing at.

More often than not it’s not the bowling which is so drastic although it can be

It’s the fielding and the drops etc

However the scores are ridiculous

Since majority of recreational cricket is not paid 99% plus I assume why not enjoy your Saturday and play lower and score big

Wonder what his motivation is ?

This is my club's Sunday XI in their final Sunday league fixture of the season, which could prove to have won us the league.

Imagine turning up on Sunday (after having played on Sat I imagine) and then having to sit and watch 45 overs and then just field 45 overs! Why wouldnt the openers just retire and give someone else a chance?

Looks like a huge overkill turning up with that lineup in a division 3 Sunday league! Notice the main run scorer this is his first recorded game in that division?
