Surely you would have thought runs wasn't an issue on day 1. Just bat until lunch and then re-assess!

Listening to TMS, Boycott came onto the waves a minute before that wicket. His rant certainly made the morning entertaining!

Personally from a spectators point of view, I dont enjoy watching him bat, so not disappointed to see the back of him

I think he is a typical grafter of runs. Trott will come in now at 3 and just play his way accumulating his runs. I would say the one thing with this line up of top 6 is there are no specialist batsman who you would say takes the game away from the oppo like KP. I know there are not many players who have KPs ability. (Totally excluding the gun Prior at 7!).

Boult vs Cook at the moment is cracking. Boult's line is excellent and Cook seems uncomfortable and like he's just hanging in (lucky to survive that lbw appeal IMO).

personally i have found the play to be a bit boring. its not the slow scoring rate. too many deliveries that could be left alone. having said that boult has been good. making the batsmen play.

Boult has bowled well IMO. I think that his style of bowling really suits the English conditions!

I agree, they have got away with a few loose deliveries, all very slow, lack of action so far pretty dull viewing

It certainly hasn't been the greatest. It definitely has the feeling of everybody just trying to feel their way into the summer. Ian Bell is also no longer a masuri wearer - got a Kook' helmet now as well!

It is test match cricket...too many people watching IPL recently! NZ bowling with discipline and England not playing rash shots (bar Compton), a good contest.

I'm really enjoying it, personally. It's been a good, old fashioned true battle between the bat and ball. Boult bowling particularly well, Southee looking good; batsmen are wary of the line and swinging ball, checking shots as a result and putting away the loose ones. What's not to enjoy?

Yes it is proper cricket, but even in test matches you can expect a run rate abov 2 for a session and a few more boundaries.

Was going to mention Bell's helmet, thought it was just a new grill, but upon closer inspection does look like a kookaburra, suprising
