There is an article on bbc sport page saying the county game should be changed.. Aka the number of counties shrank to increase quality..

it was only this summer that they was talking about the size of the shield being to small and not producing the quality.

It gets mentioned in one or other of the mainstream sports sources most every time England lose a game!

Cook won't stand aside or be dropped due to that being an admission of failure and an example of the current England set-up's inability to be flexible.

Quite.  Anyone got an example of a time when that approach has actually worked?

Thats been a problem all summer.
The whole planet could see that when trott left, bell had to bat at 3, had to. But england only put him there when it was beyond too late, almost recalcitrant selection policy.....
Had bell batted at 3 (and therefore root at 5) from adelaide on, no way would England have lost 5 zipp.  Big call I know, but I think things may have been slightly different had management, selectors and captain not (No Swearing Please) it up so badly.

In English cricket you need to be Scottish to have the plums to drop yourself.

Seems odd that England are playing a warm up game inbetween a odi series.

Cook and root fail again

Ballance scoring runs once again yet some people in this thread seem to want to drop him which is odd to say the least.

Based on this game and last I'd be tempted to go

Bell
Carberry
Ballance
Morgan
Bopara
Butler
Stokes
Jordan
Bresnan
Rankin
Tredwell

(The bottom 3 could be changed I'm more looking at the batting line up + Jordan)

Alistair Cook is an outstanding young man, in any sense of the word, by any measure.

It is time for him to pull the pin on Odi cricket.
