That's my season done.  277 runs, well pleased, my best prior to that was around 160.  Ended up with about 14-15 wickets too I believe.  We got beaten badly yesterday, lost the toss and inserted on a very sticky dog.  Was swinging a lot in cloudy conditions and going off the seam,  got off the mark with a nice straight/off drive for 4 and a pull to long leg too.  Got to 15 before one stuck in the pitch on a full length and I didn't go through with the shot and it went straight up.  In the end 3 of us got to double figures...15...30 and 18.  91 all out. Had worse days though.

Then proceeded to sweat my tits off at the pub as they put on a hot chilli and nachos, which I drowned with a few pints of stowfords, so today I am feeling rather fragile!

Promoted yesterday and need 6 points from 20 to be definite champions!

I have chance a great couple of weeks and I feel I have a great chance of achieving personal goals, qualifying for league batting award though I am short of winning this. And qualifying for the keeping award which I feel I have a chance of winning!

Problem, my aim has been getting the seconds up, now were promoted the firsts want me! Big step up and I do love a challenge!

Do I go and play firsts or chase my personal goals????

23* off 11 balls today including a slog sweep that went miles!
Typical, struggled with the bat all season, when I finally do find some form it's when theres 3 games left!

On the bright side my last 3 innings have been 10*, 18*, 12* & 23* so my average should be join in the right direction (sadly it's too little too late when you've already collected your olympic rings for the season!)

Finished the season on a high note for myself yesterday, scoring my first ever hundred for the 1st XI. 108 from 120 balls wasn't enough for us to win the game, but I was still pretty pleased to finally convert a 50 into 3 figures. A month or so ago I was really doubting my own ability and wondered whether i should just play 2nd team cricket, but since then I've got 62,36,14,108 which is a good feeling!

Also managed to snick off a batsman who's played first class cricket this year for a duck, with my part time legspin which was a bonus!

We were promoted yesterday in a festival of high quality cricket... We bowled them out for 131 and we knocked it off 9 down with one ball left. We need to win two out of the last four games to secure the title.

I can't believe some of you have already finished your seasons!

Crap isn't it, west of England and glos in particular suck. Should play all apr and sept too tbh. I've asked our club to put forward the league starts in apr, then any cancelled games get tagged on at the end.. So hopefully all games get played and it makes the leagues much better for a start and means more games get played. Im sure some who want to play other sports might moan but their team can just get another player in, no biggie.. Of anything, might find who has the better squads rather than good bare 11's etc

Well in my league we traditionally play from the 2 week in April to the 2nd week in September... Saying that, we do have 28 league games plus cup and inter-league games, so it's a lot of cricket to fit in.

Yes same as I did in northants but down here they seem a bit backward.. Plus, a few clubs seem to pander to football a bit too much

I was talking to the skipper of the Sunday side we played and we got chatting about draw cricket, I said I liked it for various reasons and me he said he hated it as it's boring.. Then preceded to slog everything.. I then knew why he found draw crixket boring :(

Wow , I would love to be in this league, we only play 17-19 league games , plus two or three friendlies prior to the league games. Now our season is over and it's going to be a long winder till next season starts.

Got our last league game coming up this weekend, we threw away promotion a couple of weeks ago, due to lack of availability. Youngsters going to festivals and numerous holidays, no commitment! >:(

Strange to see some leagues have already finished.

Played a game last week just a few hours after an 11 hour flight from Malaysia for the 2s, scored a magnificent 1* off 2 balls, but I fielded like a bit of a don, if I daresay so myself...

Was then so stiff all week that I could barely walk (I imagine because mountain hiking and rainforest work require different muscle sets!)...

Ended up in the 1s against Nuneaton on Saturday, actually ended in a tie! More interestingly, however, was a certain Ashley Giles playing for them. First Ex-England player I've played against. In other news, I fielded decently, but did nothing useful otherwise whatsoever.

End of my season :(.

Back in Cornwall now...
