Won today and finally getting through crease with some action on my off-spinners. Got the opposition's best batsman out with quite easily the best ball I have delivered all season but slightly disappointed to end up with only his wicket. Less said about my batting the better as I forced into opening and I just don't seem to be able to bat higher up the order. Stick me at No.7 and generally I will stay in all day so hopefully this has finally convinced the skipper I am not an opener.

Batted first yesterday on a road, only lost two wickets so didn't get a shot at 8. Openers started well until I gave one out lbw, but it was plumb, and his 28 was the only score below 50. Skipper batted through for 133*, 3 had a moment of madness on 50, and 4 smacked a quick 50odd as well in 276/2d from 44.
Took the old ball, bowled the opener round his legs first ball, and ended with 12/6/22/5 from my spell. Between me and my off spinning spin twin, we have taken 19/26 wickets to fall in our run of 3 home matches. Oppo were 99ao, and in our games against them this season we have got 60 points to their one. Hopefully club day today goes as well!

Went back to Kent for a game this having been not selected for either team where I'm living in Suffolk now. Iv not had a great season with the bat highest score being 27 but been batting 7,8,9 when iv always been an opener or No3.

We won the toss and decided to bowl on a pitch that had a hint of green but was evident after first ball that the pitch was dead, they managed to score 240 with the kiwi oversea making a good 120 odd dropped in the slips on about 20 mind. I bowled 5overs 1-23 bowling at the death so happy with that being my first bowl of the year.

Opened the batting and made 36, just didn't really get the pace or timing on the pitch and none of our lads did really they bowled spin from both ends most of the match and knew they home track we made 160 odd losing last few wickets quickly trying to chase it down. Not a great result but for the first time in a while I actually enjoyed the game and was great to catch up with my mates again.

Bowled them out for 184 on a good track. They were missing both their opening bowlers (two of the best in the division) so we're were confident as we have a strong batting line up. However, we were bowled out 25 runs short. Some woeful shot selection from our younger players inparticular. Can someone please teach youngsters how to push easy safe singles. Personally scored 42 bu again out caught in the covers having chased a full wide one.

Our home ground is a batsman's paradise. Yesterday was a rock hard track on a sunny July day, so of course our captain won the toss and elected to field. We've had a lot of issues with his captaincy this season but he was truly awful yesterday.

Long story short, par was about 240 and they got 280. We were 204 all out due to the run rate always being against us. Personally I got 25 opening before being caught and bowled to one that just popped on me.

Really frustrating innings actually - I took a single off the first ball then sat on my bat for 5 as my opening partner patted them back. He's awful at running singles and it really frustrates me! Still, I'd hit 4 consecutive boundaries when I got out so was annoyed to lose my wicket just as I was starting to score freely.

A great game for the Egham 4th XI against Kempton yesterday. Playing at St. George's College on a flat pitch with small boundaries, we put Kempton in to bat feeling confident of restricting them and chasing a target. We started off bowling tight, but they started getting away from us in the second half, eventually setting an imposing chase of 274 off 45 overs.

We batted brilliantly, with a new player scoring 96, as well as a 30 from one of our openers, 63 from our number three and a useful 20 from the skipper, before we stumbled to 9-down, with 10 runs needed, bringing yours truly out to bat. We scored a few more, including a gorgeous 2-not-out from myself, and I was left facing with 4 needed to win. Cue the bowler sending it down leg for four byes, giving us the win by one wicket. Cue celebrations, despite a little disappointment at not getting the winning runs off my bat.

I bowled okay, taking 1-32 off 8, but am struggling badly for fitness thanks to a knee injury, stuck bowling in the late fifties rather than approaching 70mph, which is more than a little frustrating (although I was able to crank it up after my captain decided to take me off due to fitness concerns, just to show him, cue me overhearing, "Do you think Ed's annoyed that I'm taking him off?").

All in all, a very memorable cricket match played in excellent spirits. I look forward to a high-scoring return at Kempton's football cricket ground.

We won today, beat Grimsby Town. Bowled them out for 139 and knocked them off for 1.
Good day personally too, 4-18 with the ball and 15 not out with the bat.
Broke my bat though so not all good

Played yesterday, we won the toss and bowled. and they scored 164, which was a good score considering the ground/ pitch! I bowled 11 overs 0-31, they just wouldnt go after me. we batted well, needed 24 off 18, when one of our uni boys took there opener for 22 off an over leaving us 2 off 12 balls and then made it look easy! Our youngsters batted very well in the middle overs putting on 100 between a 16&18 year old. Means we've now won 5 in a row, and managed 96 out of 100 potential points!

Got beat today by 6 runs chasing 130 ish.Bowled absolutely appallingly getting 2-50.Don't think it helped being on the beer until 4am last night.Batting wise had the worst lbw call I've ever had.Taking a leg stump guard batting a foot outside the crease got hit on my thigh pad(I'm 6'1). 1 guy appealed from mid on and to my disgust it was given. Even the bowler after the game was laughing about it and the square leg umpire although he said to me "it was too highbut I couldn't say anything " ( that baffled me the most) Ah well, onto next week

We won by 70 odd runs, batting first and posting 245. Amazingly I got the second highest score of our innings. You'd expect that to be a decent score but it was only 23 which was 110 less than our top scorer, can't be many other times this arson there will be 100 plus runs between the two top scorers!

Assuming that was the big lad who opens, he's normally your banker? Think we are over at your place next week.

We beat Cookhill Saturday who were massively village in every way. Turned up and started practise bowling on the square and the wicket, their umpire upset our groundsman, hacked their way to a below par 129, in the process giving us an extra 10 overs and then for the most part bowled like drains. Had it not been for our own rubbish brand of cricket - 41 extras in 129, and a few average shots we would of romped home but had to settle for a 4 wicket win. In our defence the deck got significantly worse second innings and started keeping very low, but I dread to think of what we might of scored batting first.

Cup semi won yesterday
Many many thanks to Simon May for the lend of one of his lovely Phantom bats, whilst mine are being repaired

We chose to bat on what looked a half decent track, but which prooved to be anything but
The wicket was very dry, and caused us quite a few problems
But, we managed 190 ish all out,,,,I got 40ish

In return, we had them out for 140

A good win on a dire wicket, that still has two more important games to be played on it!
I do miss the northern clay wickets!
