Nothing but a win yesterday and hope the top of the league lost or got rained off would have kept us in the title challenge.

Forecast was thunderstorms and a months worth of rain at 5.
We have trouble chasing so decided to bat first declare at 150 and see what happens.

Instead we was 135 All out in 28 overs (15 of 8 for me)

First rain spell fell with them 20 for 0
Second and finally huge downpour at 5.20 oppo were 53 for 2. And 22 of those were in wide's!

We never got back on so we drew and the league title went elsewhere.
Amusingly the oppo thought we'd win if we got back on as they'd only got 1 batsmen available and we'd just got him 3 balls before the rain.oh well

Interesting couple of weekends for myself, Chalfont St Giles 2nd XI and my Academy lads.
As previously mentioned, we needed a win last Saturday to confirm promotion. Bowled Pinkneys Green out for 150 from 46.4. I had figures of 12.4/2/42/4, including probably the best seven balls I have ever bowled consecutively. One of the oppo openers (who should have been out twice off our skipper but was dropped by the same colt each time) played out a maiden which had 4 spin past the edge from varying middle to outside leg lines, and two edges short of slip/gully, before the first ball of my next over coming out perfectly, drifting from middle to outside leg, then going through the gate and taking the top of middle. Managed to later on drop an absolute clanger of a caught and bowled though, my 4th dropped c&b of the season.
We then collapsed from 50/2 to 60ish for 9, with 4 ducks. Scored 6 batting 6, watched two wickets go down at the other end in consecutive balls before a few overs later getting a howler of an LBW which hit me on the strap of my inner thigh pad and was given by our ump (who later admitted he was no longer sure about it but he felt it had looked good at the time). 9 and 11 put on a few but we ended up 106ao and having to wait for promotion.

Sunday game was against the only side which had beaten us this season, Farnham Royal, who again brought their Sunday 1xi rather than their academy. They were 72/1 from 11 overs, their skip caught off me for 42 from 17, but they only got 188. Ended with 3/14 and two catches at long off. Openers then put on 113, before we lost 4 quick wickets to one bowler. Ended up with me and our 2nds opening bat, who used to play for Leicestershire 2s (or so he often tells us) putting on a quick 61 partnership to win the game, with myself getting 37no and Raj 89no. May have been a bit cocky though, and finished the game with a reverse sweep from a seamer.

Yesterday was a disaster from start to finish for the team. Top of the table clash vs Harpsden, who had already confirmed promotion having won every game this season. Got held up in traffic for Rewind festival so ended up a bit late, a problem as I was giving one of our openers a lift. Skipper got 52, me and the guy who did open 17 each, but we were 119 all out. Got my 50th scalp of the season in all forms by getting their leading run scorer, who is second behind our captain in the league stats, to pad up to a straight one second ball of the innings, but we got absolutely hammered by 9 wickets with nothing going right from that point, leaving us needing 8 points from 2 games to gain promotion with the 3rd placed team out the running having played 15 matches, whilst we have 53 points in hand over 4th who have also played 14 matches. We have games against teams we have beaten comfortably already but hopefully our momentum is not ruined by two big losses on the bounce.

Good win today, the weather managed to hold out for us to get a delayed start going down from 40 to 30 overs a side we bowled the opposition out for 49 one of our bowlers taking figures of 7 overs 6 wickets for 4 runs. Wean aged to chase it down after 10 overs not without worry though as our openers both got golden ducks but 3 and 4 put on 30 with number 4 ending up 27* whilst number 5 fell cheaply and 6 hit the winning runs

Been dropped down to the 4's, been dropped to batting at 3 in the order. Pretty annoying that, seeing as I've done nothing wrong all season, and was also top scorer in the 3's up until about 4 weeks ago. Past 5 games though I've scored 33 runs, so not surprising I suppose, but this poor form has only come since being dropped down the order.
Kinda glad the season is nearly over. Hopefully I can beef up a bit in my first year at uni, and push for a spot in the uni team or something, which will bode well for next season.

Double header this weekend. Won comfortably yesterday.I went in at 4 for 3.Got my first ever half century finishing on 88.Should really have got my hundred but was absolutely knackered haha we eventually finished on 240 for 8. Bowled the oppo out for 70. Today's game was abandoned. We batted first we struggled to 110 all out.Just after tea the heavens opened and that was all she wrote...

Didn't play this week due to illness, last game of the season next week so hopefully I'm fit and selected.

The side I would've played in were beaten quite convincingly so not sure my presence would've made a lot of difference to the final result...

Had a nice afternoon on Saturday making up the numbers for RHCC v The Authors at Windsor. The Authors set off well but a late order decline (lost the plot?) saw them to 208 which was chased down for 5 down with about half a dozen overs to go. Good competitive game all round.

Small world is cricket as I guested for the Authors while they were on tour earlier in the summer.

Promoted to 1sts this week but unfortunately got abandoned half way through our innings after tea.  Didn't get to bat and had a bit of a graze in the field so all in all a bit of a rubbish weekend.

Only upside playing in the 1sts was that our seconds got rolled for 30 on a green, wet wicket owned by a school which had never seen a roller!  Captain won the toss and for reasons only known to him decided to bat.  Apparently their dressing room were in hysterics when they found out that decision (can see why!) so dodged a bullet on that one.

For some reason which I still can't believe I finally agreed to play for our seconds last saturday. The 2nd team captain has been hassling me none stop to play for him, which i have managed to avoid all season. My reason for not playing is that I feel the bowling standard is to high and I will not get a game. if I play in the 3rds I bat at 3 (average 49) and I get to bowl a few pies at the tail.

So I turn up and we field, no bowling for me, just fine leg to deep mid on, touched the ball 4 times in the field. they scored 175-8. We got them for three wickets, I was number 6!!!!!

Thank god I am umpiring this weekend, at least I will do something

Playing my first ever adult game this Sunday for a social side around the Croydon area, bricking it considering I've not met any of them and just started emailing them after seeing an ad on Gumtree. Playing the enthusiasm over ability card and we'll see how it goes from there. Eeek.

Good day today - with loads missing from the club I captained a very young 2nd X1 with only 2 players over 19 & giving a debut to a 13 year old county player. Lost the toss and got stuck in and at 16-4 had visions of a very early finish! Got to 167 for 9 with a nice 76 for me then bowled them out for 150 odd. Taking 2 for takes me to 42 wickets for the season with 3 left - it has to be said after bowling and batting I'm knackered and now enjoying a beer and the T20 final!

We were playing against the league winners who haven't lost a game today.

Won the toss and batted first.
All out for 143 from 46.3
I got to watch 3 balls from the non-strikers end before it was over. Red ink for me without facing.

We didn't get back out for the 2nd innings...

They won the league unbeated and we were comfortably mid table. That's it until next year now  :(
