How do you know he was using a laminate?

A junior who plays in our third team has two brothers who play for them, we were talking about the innings at the club on Sunday and he said that he uses/used one.

Thursday evening at 8pm and opposition have already conceded. Despite being available for every weekend apart from 1, I've only played 11 Saturday matches for my registered club this season. The good news is we're now 2nd in the league and nearest rivals are away at the league leaders.

Penultimate game of the season today, got a duck! Not happy, went forward to a slightly back of a length ball to play a forward defensive. It pitched and went under my bat and hit the base of off stump!!! The bowler apologising wasn't really any consolation!

Played on a mindfield today. Literally every ball kept low.

Oppo 132 all out. Our medium pacer with 8 for 50.

We had 54 overs to chase them down.

We lost by one. With 22 overs left!!

I top scored with 37. The affinity toro doing its job as a toed my entire innings.

First team season done. 404 runs @27 and we finished 3rd.

2 Sunday games left.

All out for 70, oppo chased it 1 down and we were done by 5pm. Really rubbish day, got triggered caught behind for 0 when I honestly believe it's clipped the pad and it was a feather at that! Need to check the top hat for wood inserts later on. Real class less opposition today as well topped it off nicely.  >:(

My knee is well and truly gone now, it must be able to sense the impending winter hibernation.

Waste of a afternoon today as the opposition were garbage! Won by 10 wickets - bowled them out for 40 on a flat deck (5 for 17 for me). All done by 3.30pm so been to watch another game.

Volunteered to play for our 3's today, as our 2's had 12 available and the person who was gonna be dropped would of rather not played than play 3's so I went down, had a good fun afternoon playing with my mates so! Scored 14* at the end off 3 balls, and got 2-7 off 5. won very easily, one of our boys nailed one of the biggest sixes I have ever seen with my B&S, like just went for miles

My team won the league today
Outcasts CC - Lincolnshire League Division One Champions for the first time in our history.
Great season, new pavilion and Premier League cricket next year.
Need another batsman (or 2) and an opening bowler next season.

I can trump that as I drove across to Leeds this afternoon (after joining the player pool) to find I was in a team of just 9 players. Told skipper I was a bowler but somewhat out of form with the bat so after we lost the toss and got put in, I didn't mind being No.9 (last man). Intending to put my feet up for a couple of hours, I quickly found myself padding up and arrived at the crease with the score on 18-7. Chap at the other end suddenly started whacking 4s and 6s before a big shot too many saw the end of our innings on 55 with my contribution being a solid 4no. Given that I was making a 50 mile round trip, I was somewhat disappointed not to be 1 of the 4 bowlers used before the total was easily overhauled but probably just as well as the match descended into farce as the umpire (an opposition player) decided to signal wide on any delivery not hitting the stumps. He then made a complete fool of himself as he signalled no-ball when a bowler's front foot crossed the line of the return crease not realising the relevant rule actually refers to the back foot.

To cap it all, tea was taken at the end of the match rather than the change of innings but there was nothing left when I walked in.

First of th sept friendlies, slow low deck which also stayed low low. Bowled a few overs and batted about 6 to give the guys from the season who bat low a go.  Decent game, 223-9 played 224-8, went down to the last ball where either team could win. Perfect friendly and kudos to both skippers who manufactured such a game rather than pound each other

Won league and got promoted for the 2nd season in a row, weather played abig part in a majority of games with slow low pitches and soft outfields which in turn has made me have to buy another new pair of whites trousers for the third season in a row! when will colored kit catch on?!?!

Ahh, back to winning ways at last. After a horror run, the mighty Chertsey 3XI managed a thumping win to end the league season. We bowled out Esher (a team who dicked us earlier in the season) for a measly 60  (yours truly bending another couple out) and knocked them of with only 3 down.

Very disappointing season for us as we were in the promotion spot hunt for the whole of the first half of the season, then availability went off a cliff (we don't get any university kids coming back to us and everyone buggers off on holiday) and we lost a few games. Still, I think we squeezed 3rd place so something to build on for next year.

On a purely personal and show-off note, the final weeks scorecards aren't in yet, but I'm either leading wicket taker or runner up for our league, which seeing as I was yipping like a mad man for the last two years has brought me great pleasure, and rekindled my love for the game.

I think that's great news.

On a personal note I would love to bat against you, but I imagine on a soft slow 3rd XI deck you can be a right pain to get away!

Well done mate - hopefully if Asad does a event / net at his Birmingham store I may get chance to see "the magic" in action

Good news Fattus, wily left arm still a weapon especially to us right handers.
Personally had a very poor league season although i did score runs on Sundays.
Hung on in my usual team(seconds) until i was number 9 last week and requested to go down.once i no longer had a batting position that was that.thoroughly enjoyed yesterdays league match with the thirds and good to play with guys not taking themselves too seriously and having fun.
Plenty of practice planned for the end of this year and will come back stronger next year :)
