We were 77 for 6 off 34 overs down came the snow overs were lost when the opposition couldnt bat 20 overs or more no result is possible under league rules so match abandoned.

First Saturday game of the season albeit a hastily arranged friendly after our original hosts pulled out due to an unfit pitch. Playing a team who were promoted out of our league at the end of last season, we bowled them out for 107. We knocked it off in about 17 overs - I scored a quick 50 and then retired to give others some time in the middle before the league starts next week.

Green, damp, cold, lashed it down before the game and we lost the toss. Struggled to 116 for 9, I got a duck with for the 2nd time in 2 weeks a short ball that rolled along the floor. Our 16 year old quick decided to test the middle of the pitch and gave them a 25 run head start. Bowled them out for 80 12-4-16-2 for me. Hopefully it warms up next weekend as again had 4 layers on and a beanie.

Slow start today though certainly picked up some pace. Home game on our new and improved square, we were put in, got 189/7 from 52. Went in 6 at 57/4. Promptly departed 57/5 with a first baller that swung from middle and leg to take top of off stump. Firsts bowler on one leg smashed 83* to save us. Took old ball and opened up, first spell was 7 overs for 25, few edges that dropped short. Taken off and new ball taken, on 11 overs later having dropped a catch at second slip off my opening partner. Took until after the 70th over to make a positive impact, and my second spell was 5.4/2/16/5. Had a hat trick chance but ball drifted too far, but total of 5/41 with 3 bowled, 1 lbw and 1 caught redeemed my drop and golden duck. Still getting fined though i think.

45 over game reduced to 40 when we were at our 37th over. We batted first and put on a score of 248-6 (could have been more but as its a friendly you don't thrash people about !). Opened and we got 100 before my partner was out for 50 off 50balls (yes, he intentionally spooned it up), I made 64 off 61 balls before ensuring I was out (wed agreed whoever was left would get no more than 15 runs extra before getting out to give others a bat). Two or three games in a row if serious I probably could have toned up in each :( oh well

They got 161-9 in reply and all their lads got a bat so all in all, good day for both sides and everyone either batted or bowled so exactly what a pre season game is about

Last friendly today before the league starts next week. Glad to get all my sh#t performances out of the way!!  Following last week's 3rd ball duck, I scored 1 just trying to smash the leather off the ball. Then had a shocker with the keeping gloves, struggled with one bowler in particular, had it cutting in or away and I couldn't read it for toffee.  19 byes later and I was ready to go home!!!

Just to echo the above, as we are team mates after all! It was actually a bit of a stuffing. We didn't give them much to hit for 20 overs and took out some very good batsman in the process. I did a mopping up exercise taking 3-11 off 6 overs. Found a bit of turn and accuracy that was missing last weekend. They would of fallen well short of three figures had we not shared the bowling around. It still took them 38 overs to get that. We were 87-1 off 11, thanks to Chris timing the ball well with his focus bat and they only picked up 3 more wickets thanks to some average shots, bowling wasn't difficult. Good morale booster but first league next week will be totally different.

I played yesterday (wahoo) it was a practice game on the slowest and lowest pitch I have ever played on. Still I got to retire not out (after being dropped multiple times and toe ending half my runs!) and we got 217 from 25 overs (!!!). Opponents weere never interested in the chase but they all got to bat!

No mate, I hear you totally destroyed us, 43 all out   :o I was playing a 1s and 3s club game as both our opponents scratched, first proper failure of the season, played round a straight one, plumb. Who were you playing for?

We had another great win yesterday. Put into bat we made 271/2 before bowling them out for 247 with 8 balls left. Managed 3/37 from 7 bowling at the death which I was quite pleased with considering it was an absolute road!

First league game yesterday and a win
Turned out to be a good close game in the end
We got 167 batting first,(I got 26 opening, new h4l devil bat is up there with the best bats I've ever used) and our oppos were 9 Down and 3 or 4 runs short at the end.
I bowled the second to last over, and took an easy enough catch.
Our new captain eased himself into our team well, and I think gave us all confidence for a decent seasons cricket.
One of our team used his new newbery kudos bat from Asad at Uzi sports, which is unreal!
It's as good as the fabled misbah bat!

Oh and I'm dead today! Feeling very old!
