Cheers mate, was a nervy one, was stuck on 42 for a while not trying to force it then edged one on 48 but it doesn't say that in the book so I'll take it haha.

Yesterday we bowled first and I must say that's the best we've bowled as a team for a long while. Everyone had a good day. I'm very surprised they got over 100 nevermind to 153 after 35 overs.

Batting, their opening bowlers. One as good as ours, quick, accurate with swing. The other, neither. The neither guy who is slow (not loopy) can turn it mm's both ways. We're talking no matter which way it turns you can still middle it the same stroke even with a heavily concaved bat. He went for only 20 runs for no wickets from his 7 overs. I couldn't believe it. They were cheering every ball. I thought I was watching a Monty Python sketch it was that comical. In the end we came about 20 runs short. No-one could press on. The last laugh was on us.

The main culprit is a guy who is known to only get singles blocked everything. He was put up the order in the hope he can rotate the strike or get out trying. Even non threatening balls he blocked. He stayed in for over 25 overs despite calls for hit out or get out or hopefully both. After finally getting clean bowled after attempting another block he stormed off the pitch throwing off his gear swearing to himself. His bat he actually threw three times to the ground. I don't know if he thought he was well on his way to his first 50 or what but it left us all baffled. Maybe he thought if he got mad at himself, we wouldn't be mad at him. When he finally did say something we could understand all he said was he going straight home.

Not something you'd expect from a 47 year old lawyer.

We moved joint top on Saturday which was a bonus. Loss the toss and ended up bowling first despite only having 9 men present on the field.
Anyways rolled them for 99 and knocked it off within 11 overs.

My side at the weekend scored 409 off 45 overs, with our number 3 getting 121, I got 55 opening the batting, and our number 7 scoring 43 off 15 balls! We then bowled the oppo out for 92! The biggest win I've ever been part of!

So hopefully that'll earn me my place back in the second team, what you think?

If you were dropped and told to get runs and wickets then I'd imagine it would be over several matches and not just the one - unless you scored a big ton and ran through oppo with the ball. My money is on 3s again this weekend.

Our 2s shipped 414 on Saturday but fared a bit better with the bat than your oppo as they got up to 180 or so.

Apparently one boundary was only 10-15m long (might be an exaggeration on their behalf). Game was at Ley Hill, 2nd track in from boundary if anyone has played there before.

Back in the seconds for a nice away trip this weekend! Probably should've mentioned my club is pretty small so there's room for movement between the teams with unavailability etc.

Also, the average age of our first team is probably around 26, second team is mainly U21's with perhaps 2/3 30+, then the third team is largely U17's with a few older guys when available.

On another note I enjoyed watching the umpire barely move here

Mid table clash with local rivals Buckingham 4s Saturday. Had to deal with a very good leggy playing way below his level who was captain of the oppo. Having given the chat about not taking risks to our batsman we then shipped 4-31 off his 15 overs. Things weren't helped by a 1st teamer being slipped into the oppo. Just so happens he bowls and bats 8 in the Home Counties, so logically the 4th team was the place for him to be when he needs to disappear at 6pm, for gods sake!. He wiped out the top order and after the leggy made a mess of the middle order we had to dig ourselves out of 53-6. I put on captain block and we added 88 for the last 4 wickets to nudge 141 off our 45 overs. Oppo, powered by the 1st teamer galloped to 93-2 off 23 before I bowled him leg stump. Would like to say it was great bowling but he had a wedding reception to get to so was taking chances. From drinks onwards we squeezed the life out of them and the went down in a heap to 126ao. Opening bowler got the last 3 and I picked up 4-20 off 13 in the middle order. Batting was terrible, ground out 14* in 29 overs but hung around and that's the best that can be said for it.

Sunday was a similar game. Batted poorly, I did slightly less blocking at the end for 15* and bowled 8 overs 1-12. Lost by 5 wickets, mainly due to being 30 runs short and the captain/s not keeping a lid on the run rate and sticking with the slow stuff. Only a friendly but overall a good weekend.

I think i saw what must have been this game on the Play Cricket Bucks Honours Board - there were like 3 batters from Ley Hill on it and 1 guy got 250!
