2nd game of the season for me on the injury comeback trial. We racked up 230 for 4 they didn't.

30 for me but lost concentration at drinks and rather than 3rd man ran the ball to the keeper off the face 🙈 Wrapped up the game with the last wicket so only required to bowl a few balls (boy was I stiff! Next step is overs under the belt!).

Found myself umpiring at the bowler's end with an opposition opening fast bowler who was blatantly throwing the ball - this was not a borderline issue - it was blatant. The next over whilst at square leg I asked an opposition fielder if the bowler had ever been done for chucking. "Oh yes" was the reply "he was cleared by the league last season but has another assessment next week after having been reported again". As umpire what should I have done in this situation?

(I chose not to do anything as there was already a simmering undercurrent of tension in the game as their keeper was being a total (No Swearing Please) - after the game we jokingly suggested that he should be drug tested and one of the opposition said "funny you should say that!")

Frustrating few games recently. Last two knock out games I've gone wicket less for 40 off my four 8 ball overs but have been a threat and created chances that weren't taken. Feeling in good touch with the bat as well and stuck at number nine yesterday so didn't get in. To put it into perspective, when I play at the same level in the East Sussex League I bat in the top five and average 30+.

Yesterday bowled my 15 overs, 15/4/59/2. Wickets were a bowled, outside leg to top of off, and an lbw to a top spinner that the bloke walked across. Our 290/6 was under no threat until a big bloke wandered in and hit his first two balls into the polo pitch behind the bowler (I'd been brought off by now). Ended up having two overs late on against the big chap, and these cost 12 and about 20. When he holed out they collapsed, keeper dropped a catch that would have been the skippers hat trick, and their last pair survived the last two overs to give us a winning draw.

Ive decided that this will be my last season at Chalfont though. I've been at the club since I was eight, have been playing league cricket for nine years, but have never been given a fair crack of the whip with the bat coming in with my reputation for quick runs in the colts. I am looking to step up a couple of levels, oppo ump yesterday said I should be, our keeper thinks I should be and @edynamo (Ross has been coaching me since last season, huge improvements) and I agree it's best for kicking on.

@mohawks94 do it. I played a high standard when I was younger and benefited a lot from it, better standard, more often than not better coaching and you can find your level too at a bigger club. This is one of the reasons we're leaving the Chilterns league to go into TVL so we can play at an appropriate standard of cricket and hopefully not lose our better youngsters to other clubs in the future. I can't comment on your batting as only two times I've seen you bat you got a first baller in knock out and not many earlier this season but on the bowling front the guys who faced you rated you.

How do I write this without it sounding like sour grapes...

We batted first and made 226 from our 45 overs, I top scored with 70. Batted patiently and struggle to time anything for several overs before taking a bowler for 23 in one over then another for 26. Was disappointed to get out with a few overs left and felt that both myself and the team had left runs out in the middle.

We made a couple if early breakthroughs before we discovered why they are known as a one man team. One of their lads went onto score 161 out of 227 with the addition of 21 extras. It was a great knock and almost chance less apart from some LBW decisions that both didn't go our way and were then given as runs. I'll not get into the discussion of whether they were out or not I know they stated we hadn't given them decisions.
The lad who scored the 160 now has scored 42% of all their league runs, which is impressive enough but even more so when you realise that yesterday was on my his 3rd league game of the season.

It's a tricky one as I'm sure we would be happy to have someone like him playing for us but it is frustrating playing against someone who has been recently playing premier league cricket that's now in Div 6.

Well played midweek and struggled as in truth I have done all season with injury.

I have been playing at around 60 per cent so after my midweek game decided to see my physio and doctor.

Long story short been advised bye doctor to pack in.

Had bloods taken and have a rhumatology appointment on the 26th.

Gutted as many know I love my cricket had back issues last year which restricted me to 6-8 games only.

Hands and ankle are my big issues this season gutted maybe it time for my end!!!!

If I can come back it will take time and I have agreed not to play in pain any longer.

time for all in eBay sale I suspect

Played against my old club. They hit 240. We hit them off 5 down, very happy about that. Got 45* with the Aldred I bought off of Jaffa. Lovely bat, Paul makes excellent bats.

I was going start with another rant about playing with 9 players yesterday but seeing as another forum member won with 7, perhaps I should gloss over Saturday's debacle and just talk about todays match. In fairness, I ended up getting another stuffing this afternoon but at least I was not out both days this weekend against some fairly decent bowling. The highlight of today's game was the pitch deteriorating before our very eyes, one lad off to hospital and spinners having to finish the match it got that dangerous. In fairness, spin wasn't much easier to play and one particular delivery I faced exploded off the pitch like someone had set off a firework.

Haha i know what you mean, kept wicket all day and the pitch other than a couple of balls that popped, behaved as normal. Lucky me gets the only grubber of the day 4th ball in. I did make 4 though so goo strike rate i guess
