From the brand's perspective, not sure if this will do good or bad..I guess as long as the quality is maintained and bats perform well, nothing else matters.

Didn’t he say he has an ex customer there who hand picked them for him? It doesn’t have to be Paul who hand picks them. I know every has a bit of a dislike for IJC but come on get real guys.
I like both Paul and IJC and have bought from them a few times and. Recommended to friends but I do think they made a bit of a rod for their own back with this hand picked malarkey.

I think it’s the ex-customer and forum member who has opened the L&W franchise in India from my gathering.

Can't say i'm a fan of the bold lettering down the edges, it doesn't appeal to me

True...makes it look like a cheap knock off. Probably some feedback for the makers.

I'm usually pretty open-minded, but it is truely truely horrible. Even in the knowledge that I could peel it off, I thinkI might still struggle to buy one with them on.

I understand they have stretched the truth at times regarding hand picking bats and criticism is deserved but if I ask a mate to go to a batmaker and hand pick a bat for me is it hand picked or not?

Exactly what i said earlier, all bats are hand picked by someone. Whether it be you in person, a friend or someone from the brand themselves.

I don't get it, why would you buy an Indian made Laver reserve from IJC for £600 when you can have the real thing direct from Laver for a little under £400 at current exchange rates? Can't imagine this is what Laver intended, you wonder how involved they are in the 'exclusive distributor' business.

Hi all - as some know (more now!), I now have some involvement with IJC and just wanted to clarify on the pricing point on their behalf.

An error was initially made on the pricing as a result of a slightly tricky process of trying to match prices between IJC and L&W direct, taking into account shipping to the UK, import duty, VAT etc. This has now been corrected.

Within very small margins, the total cost of ordering the same bat from L&W direct, and from IJC is now the same. The main difference from a pricing perspective is that if you order from L&W NZ direct, shipping of 100 NZD is added, and VAT and import duties may be payable. Ordering from IJC, UK delivery is free and all import tariffs, VAT etc are already dealt with. Delivery times on stock bats will also be shorter as they are coming from London, not NZ or India! You can of course also visit the store and pick up/compare the IJC bats.

Hope this clears things up.

it is almost irrelevant. whether hand picked or not, IJC will show you individual bat picks before you buy. the buyer can decide if they like it or not.

Also, if there is a problem you can return it to IJC in London, not have to go to the expense and time of sending it back o NZ/India.
Overall for me I think there are much better value options available from smaller UK boutique makers.

One advantage that IJC have is that bats delivered to them will have time to settle in weight before customers buy them, which I believe has been a bit of an issue with L&W bats in the past. Just saying.

I asked Laver about this when I bought one last year and they claim they've solved the weight gain problem, mine hasn't put any on so I'll believe them.

That may be the case for the Laver bats made in NZ, but as I understand these are not...

Are the Reserves made in NZ? Anyway I also thought the bats were made in India. Even so, you wouldn't know it by looking at them. They looked finished to the same high standards as NZ made ones.
