So our ground is deemed still to wet to play on this weekend by the groundsmen and it's a safety call reall with damp parts of the outfield under the trees,
So we speak to another club and arrange use of these second team pitch for saturdays first league game of the season now the oppo have conceded. Will this bloody season ever start as free week next sat so looks like my season will start in May now

All being well our first (and now only) pre season game will go ahead tomorrow our groundsmen has worked with the good weather this week and we are fit to play ready for the rain tomorrow!!!

Our groundsman @Maverick79 is doing an unbelievable job. The square is looking in a good way all things considering, it's just areas of the outfield which are bad, saying that, I haven't been down since last Saturday and he said it's dried lots.

First friendly is next Saturday and the league starts May 5th. I think I'll not be playing next week due to a house move however. My first knock of the year could be a league game... ouch!!

First league game tomorrow, had a net on one of our practise strips the other night. This weather has certainly helped! Deck is looking real good, along with a nice outfield so all in all pretty stoked for tomorrow!

Our first league game tomorrow is off as the groundsman hasn�t cut a strip yet because it�s too wet.
Very disappointing as the weather has been great this week so you feel you should be playing.
The ground is very soft and wet also it�s not a good idea to fall out with the groundsman this early in the season.
10 /15 years ago we�d have been playing though

With our pre season game off, we are finishing the grounds work tomorrow and having a fitness and fielding session run by our overseas. Im leaving home at 8 to get a decent session in and help with the ground as I live 40 miles away since leaving uni!

Our first league game tomorrow is off, the groundsman has said the square has not had its pre season roll which takes between 60-100 hours, however the square is solid, wicket is cut and prepared and the outfield is ready to go. You be the judge.....

60-100 hours is a LOT of rolling....

Came on to bowl,
first ball - steady line and length for a dot
Second ball - wet ball slips out my hand and sails over the batsman's head
Third ball - see second ball.
Umpire takes me off for 2 no-balls.
First game of season is usually a little loose on line and length but that was ridiculous.
Fortunately we won so I can see the funny side.

1st league game on a total pudding. 111 all out off 35. I was LBW for 13.popped up off a length an hit the pocket on my.back leg. Thought it a bit big myself but league umpire disagreed - fair enough. They got it 6 down after a break for a thunderstorm. Good game played in the right spirit.

Players a friendly yesterday against Heworth. We bowled first and they made 124/11 from their 40. In reply we made 153/3 from our 40.
A worthwhile run out. All the bowlers got some overs in the legs and the batsmen managed to spend some time at the crease.
League and village cup double header to look forward to next week.
