Maybe - but I'd put my money on Virdi instead. Pope has a lot of competition in the 20 year old prodigy stakes - Clarke, Brook, Burnham post ban, Jack's even.

None if that lot have scored 4 tons in their first 12 games. Jacks is more if a one day hitter at the moment. But talented.
In the upcoming hit and giggle stuff, keep your eye on Philip Salt of Sussex.

South Africa’s ageing star man Dale Steyn still got it, 5-59 against People’s Republic of Yorkshire.

Has Haseeb Hameed lost confidence post that severe finger injury or is he just in a slump? Renshaw went through a similar rough patch but in now back in the runs

My Dad was at Guildford today. He has had a brilliant time of it!

Incredible spell considering Woodbridge Road is considered an absolute road by most, and Surrey's first innings also backing that theory up.

The great thing about Surrey's academy is that the talent doesn't stop at Pope, Patel, Jacks and Virdi. There are plenty of talented 17 and 18 year olds making their way through. Also good to see all the young players doing it in the championship too and not just specialising in the white ball stuff

Realistically, yes. The last three years, there has been a move to give youth its head. Before that? This is the county who routinely signed any early 30s county Star to try and buy the title. Even now, there is a heavy Yarpies influence around the squad.

In the upcoming hit and giggle stuff, keep your eye on Philip Salt of Sussex.

I see he made a century at Arundel the other day, alongside Tom Haines who, when he was a precociously talented 13 year old, was a teammate of mine a few years ago, we even had a decent partnership in one game.  His career seems to have taken off in a direction mine never will  :(

Clarke, Durnbach, Meaker, Sibley, the holioake brothers, butcher, thorpe, Stewart, the bicknells, Alex Tudor.

Then there are all the Surrey players around the counties, from Laurie Evans, to ashley giles.

I was chatting to Keith Medlecott the former coach about them all on Wednesday.

This surrey don't play their home grown talent thing us garbage.
