We played an inter club yesterday.
It was great to be back playing. The ground looked fantastic (we�ve just got a new electronic scoreboard).
The cricket was a bit tame, lacked a bit of edge. I was 19 not out but pretty slowly as the track wasn�t fast. Then took 2-12, always nice to have a bowl.
Sanitising your hands every 6 overs is a bit over the top and not throwing the ball round after a delivery is a bit weird but if we have to do that to play then I�m OK with it.

The hand sanitiser is every 6 became normal quite quickly - would love to know the science behind why 6 overs and not 10 for example but anyway.

To the match started well with a 50 retired however not so good in the field dropping two catches - practice needed

We had a round of friendlies, 1s to 4s all vs Amersham. We lost all four, but some of our youngsters stood up in the 1s. They were pretty much full strength, whilst we were giving four u16s a go, and they did well.

Personally a dnb as we got 147/7 off 40, with our top order finding fielders beautifully. We were clearly a bit rusty when bowling as there were quite a few wides, I probably bowled five. My figures were 3/63 from 8, with a short straight boundary and buzzers contributing to it, as well as some filth.

All in all, a day's cricket, sun burnt nose and ripped my trousers fielding - what's not to love?!

Is it 'science' or is it just down to deciding that after at least 36 balls, so meaning at least 72 hands being on it it's worth sanitising just in case. It's about mitigating risks and the lazier people are the more worthless these things become. The more people ignore social distancing etc the more likely we are to keep having infections and then potentially comes the winter. All for a beer or a few extra overs.

It's a pain but meh, if that means people can play then it's worth it.

Sure, the game yesterday (and every game this year whether they try and call it 'league' or not) lacked any form of intensity but then I will say that it was one of themore enjoyable games to play in... no sledging, no verbals and people just smiling and joking with each other.. That is how amateur cricket should be really.

Have to say that I didn't think at the game and their second ground followed the rules at all (they tried but the players/spectators ignored it). Not sure if it's just clubs and players sticking two fingers up or whether the rules aren't strict enough. I think only 4 came in whites.. the rest in normal cricket attire, everyone still dragged their bags out and piles them together. One team decided that full contact football was perfectly fine then did a normal cricket warm up for 20 mins but zero sanitation between all this. I think I counted 12 under the front of the club house all sat in a line as you would previously..

Not sure what can be done but I can't see anything more than less and less following as each game is played.

Was very enjoyable just to play and sadly I wasn't required to bat as they only got 149 so there wasn't much point me batting. I enjoyed a 90 min run around the boundary as fitness instead.

Had either a league rep or council rep come and inspect yesterday during the game to make sure the club was prepared and protocols were being followed

Towards the end of the game, the 1m wasn�t followed, most forgot to bring their own bottle of hand sanitiser, food was shared by a few and people still handshaking. Pure stupidity but players not taking virus prevention protocols seriously

I agree but the captains didn�t enforce it/a lot of ignorant players. Hopefully it improves next week but If it continues I won�t play many more games.

The chairman of the league (committee member) was also there but did nothing either

Let�s be honest, no club is going to ban players or enforce rules as they want the bar takings etc

I just stayed away from everyone tbh, sanitised every over and after touching the ball and when batting the keeper came up so i just batted outside my crease to keep 2m distance . If I miss the call and get stumped I don�t really care as 2020 isn�t anything but friendly crixket even though they will (and some teams will) try and play �league� games . It�s really not worth the risk

On the field, I can get it, it is 2nd nature what you do, some of us have been doing it for 25+ years. People will also get caught up in the moment regarding wicket celebrations etc...

However, off the field there is absolutely no excuse, to not follow the guidelines.

Great to play yesterday in an inter-club team match. Didn't bowl and batted 5. Felt in good touch and got to 19 before team mate gave me out lbw. Everyone thought it was too high, so a bit disappointing not to go on. Just good to get out and fantastic turn out. Especially as a lot of locals turned up to watch. Bar must have done very well.

Had an intra club T29 day today had 3 teams made up of 10 players so 30 max across all our sides so had sat 1st team players, Sunday 2nd and the ladies all merges together.

Spirit was fantastic as everyone was so glad to be back playing. Ball sanatised every 6 overs was fine and didn�t really notice and was great to play with and get to know a few players have had very little social interaction with as don�t play very much Sunday cricket.

Highlight was opening the batting with my daughter as this was due to he her first year playing any form of cricket for our ladies side now she is old enough and having a nice 20 run stand before she missed a straight one.

No real highlights for me scored 2 and 24 in the two games but scoring runs with a bat I made myself was also very nice including 5 x 4�s in the second game.
Keeping was really good for first game back, 4 byes that was such a wide it was laughable but as I had bragged about no byes after the first game someone thought they would put pay to that lol. 3 stumpings and a regulation catch behind was a decent start.

Local mini league starts 25th July so maybe try and get a friendly in next weekend.

We had a T20 tonight, and as T20 skipper I was in charge of making sure that everything was done correctly. I was very impressed with how well my young side coped with all the rigmarole. We did the sanitiser breaks every five overs rather than six, so that teams could maintain momentum at the end of their innings.

We got 160, personally made 26 batting at 3. Given how many bowlers I had I'd already decided that I wouldn't bowl, and the only one of us over 20 bowled in the end. We kept them under control right up to the last couple of overs, when they had some more powerful bats than early on. I don't know the exact score but we won by about 30 I think.

Despite all the extra precautions, tonight was one of the most enjoyable games I've had as a captain. Everyone played a role and executed skills well.
