Fantastic series for Khawaja - lets hope Pakistan go for the target and set a good game up

Not a clever declaration from Aussies! They will regret it!

It does seem rare these days to see a captain make a declaration with a genuine interest in the game reaching a result. Test cricket has been diminished by the avoid defeat at all costs attitude

I suspect there is still a lot of cricket left in this game.  If Pakistan do chase this down they will have batted very well but Australia will also have the time to take 10 wickets. Seems a far better outcome than Austrlia simply batting on until there isn't enough time for either side to force a result

This

Too many (Like England recently) bat on for too Long , bat a side realistically out the game and then people moan that teams haven't 'gone for it'... Declare and ACTUALLY dangle the carrot and teams may just take the risk of chasing.. which in turn, opens the door to wickets. Win or Lose, if you want to 'win' in draw cricket you have to gamble.

At least they are trying to win! Would rather see that than teams looking to avoid loss at all Costs.

At least this makes for a bit of a game...

England have been leaving it far too late to declare with the brick wall that is Brathwaite in the Windies team.

England don't have anything like the experience or quality in their bowling attack that Australia do though, that's always going to effect your decision making on a declaration.

Steve Smith’s slip catching has been horrendous this series. Shelled another one late in the evening of Marnus’ bowling. Smith usually an outstanding fielder but dropping 5-6 catches is poor.

278 off 90 overs. I’d say the draw is still the favourite.
Pakistan’s tail is lengthy and in the first innings they lost their last 4 wickets for 0 runs.
There wasn’t much reserve last this evening either.
So first session the key on day 5.

That's a proper Test match! Great declaration by team AUS.
