Well village first rounds were today. We had long lee cc. An Ayrtek lid and a fatbat on show from the oppo. We were very very poor but pulled it together and got the job done. How did everyone else get on
Inspired by the above post I thought it would be quite a nice idea to have a thread where we can report spottings of forum brands.
I guess this might go some way to show the success of the brands as it proves that they've managed to penetrate the market beyond the forum kit geeks!
I'll start with my match v. Garstang yesterday. For starters the team were smartly turned out in teamwear from Lukeys Sports. One of their opening batsmen also had Lukeys bat and softs (perhaps not so surprising given that Lukeys is local to here)
Also on show was a Hell4Leather 666 being used by their number 3. Looked a lovely stick, though was less impressed with the batsmen wielding it!
-
Got launched for 6 back over my own head by a guy with a H4L last season and got one smashed over my own head for 4 yesterday by a guy using a Laver & Wood. Yet to see any forum brand protection being worn however. Think I play at a bit too lower standard to see Ayrtek helmets coming out..
-
All very dull from our opponents yesterday although one guy did pretty well with an ancient DF Magnum!
Fair few of our guys have some Ayrtek gear now what with us being Bristol based. Sadly for Tom our man with the Elite bundle could only muster a second ball duck!
-
Seen an Ayrtek on show in the league by a lad who seems to have same kit I have but a year or two behind weirddddd
-
Yesterday in Four Counties Div 2 oppo had a laver + wood + a blue room, and my SAF Hades,
-
Who was wearing the Ayrtek mate?
-
I know that A team in the Kent League now has 4 H4L in there first team and this is not Matt's team. All scoring runs with them one lad 2 innings this year 2 tons!!!!
-
I went to watch pw in the village today, was nice to see fatbats being used. Only ayrtek lids I've seen are the 3 in our club lol but the season is still young...im sure we'll spot more as the season progresses.
-
Opener for Newtown
It's funny as when I was there I had aero pads I leave he gets them I play against them in an Ayrtek next year he has one
-
Lad I played against today had full Fusion kit, looked new as well, he didn't use the bat very well though :D
-
Last week we played against Leicester Ivanhoe and the opening batsman Leicestershire under 14's captain was using Aldred kit, must say he was very good scoring 41 in a low scoring game again to very good bowlers
-
Played against a guy the other week in Surrey Championship Division Two, and a number 9, walked in with a Joker, Vulcan gloves from like 2011, Vantage Volt Pads and an Ayrtek Premier... He was quite cocky earlier on in the field... And ironically first ball sprinted down the track, played and miss, I took an easy stumping, so he then called me a (No Swearing Please), and marched off...
All The Gear No Idea ;)
-
I've seen a lot of Chase gear in the Hampshire leagues....haven't seen any forum sponsors gear at all though....quite surprising really
-
Once saw an Chase at indoor practice.
Ca_Gold has H4L which I saw in Canada.
Was watching a T20 last Tuesday and one guy was smacking sixes with ease, saw his bat was Laver & Wood.
-
I've seen a lot of Chase gear in the Hampshire leagues....haven't seen any forum sponsors gear at all though....quite surprising really
Not surprising given their location... Don't know if it's still the case but there were a couple of sports shops in Portsmouth and Southampton that used to give a decent discount to local clubs (including ours) and who stocked a lot of chase gear. We had a fair old number of users.
-
40% of our team use Bulldog kit! Saw a guy all kitted out in Ian Wills kit, and some old school Ayrtek kit on saturday.
-

Holt and Haskell gave large discount on their own stuff.
-
Saturday I saw a guy in Redback pads & also used a Redback bat.

I reckon that's gotta be someone on here!
-
Or someone from a magazine gear test.
-
Someone for Christchurch (Dorset League 2 saturday) was using a Vantage, looked a few years old and older stickers.
-
Been informed that a guy playing in our league is using a blueroom bat with bulldog softs. Must be a forumite. I was shocked he Didnt get the bat from me more than anything haha.
-
I saw someone in Canterbury wicketkeeping pads last Wednesday.
Anyone seen a Scoop yet?
-
I've seen a definite laminate in a friendly game this year.
-
Umpired a guy using a Mongoose last week, he didn't make many runs, 3 or 4 I think.....I've yet to see anyone make runs with one other than on TV.
I've also seen an older Fusion that is being used to good effect but pretty much held together by tape and a guy using a Redback, although he only has one because he asked me how to get hold of a Redback after seeing mine in action.
-

Not seen any runs with a mongoose?!? :o
-
Yet to come across anything... :(
-
Nothing that good today, bats were all big brands. Someone did have some Morrant Ultralite International pads though, but that was it
-
I popped up to watch our first team today, there was a good looking shark bat in the oppo.
-
No. 3 or 4 batsman for the opposition today with a lovely looking Laver but ... out first ball as he sweetly hit straight to mid-off... sounded nice though...
I managed to 'bruise the toe' as one of my team mates called it on my Hell 4 Leather 666 (Hattori stickered) in it's first outing with me... hit 23 but I'm a bit concerned... 3nd bat this season to be damaged this way...
-
A person at my new club I had never met until now was using a talisman. Very decent stick. said His dad got it for him of a bat collector he works alongside with? (I am thinking Hosk!) And saw a guy the other day using the white/blue/white chevron from S&J cricket.
-
seen a mongoose today for first time being used cor3 :)
-
saw a mars cricket bat today and a champ
and one if the kids at the club has just got a custom hawk bat
-
No. 3 or 4 batsman for the opposition today with a lovely looking Laver but ... out first ball as he sweetly hit straight to mid-off... sounded nice though...
spooky! Out oppo no.4 had a nice looking Laver, he looked a good bat as well, but he drilled his 6th or 7th ball on the uo, straight to cover.
Funny old world!
-
a few of our oppo were using bt blades bats, they seemed to go very well, anyone heard of them?
found their website, www.btblades.co.uk........bats seem well priced
-

I guess it just goes to show that it's not the bat but the one who wields it.. although you can never discount the confidence factor...
-
Saw a vintage CF today. It had green and maroon stickers with CF Custom tourist on them. The oppo were also using a shamrock ball which was nice
-

Bt blades are made by Ben thane, he plays for Hook in the Southern League and the bats are popular in both southern and hampshire leagues. I've never owned one but know lots of blokes who swear by them. I think Ben was making bats at Chase before going alone?
-
1st game for a new club in T20 last night, one of our openers was using a Choice Willow Excalibur, I hadn't seen any Choice Willow bats in the flesh but it looked decent. He made 73 off 58 deliveries so a decent batsman but the bat looked like it went well and he hit a couple of sweet 6s down the ground without much effort.
Also one of the oppo had an old GM Maxi that looked in very good condition, don't think it gets much use!
-
Played against Bournemouth last night.
I young lad came out to bat Using a Rob Pack Cricket bat....
His name was actually Robbie pack as well!
-
Nothing exciting over the weekend, there was a huuuuge Mongoose Cor3 Premium though. Shame the fit didn't get many runs with it :D
-
Opening batsman had a bat with a big i on it and a smaller sticker saying "the don" not sure what that was, possibly island cricket?
-
Someone was wearing an Ayrtek yesterday, it's was one of the ones from the early days with no pumps or ACIS. I told the guy to get in touch with tom for a big chin grill as his head was massive!
-
Opening batsman had a bat with a big i on it and a smaller sticker saying "the don" not sure what that was, possibly island cricket?
I did those stickers for someone one here, not sure who actually though
-
Interesting...glad I didn't make any negative comments about the user!
-
Boy at my club has an ayrtek, plus some bloke had a vantage lithium yesterday
-
I watched from behind the stumps as a very decent batter got a classy fifty against us at the weekend using a L&W private bin which he said was around 6 years old and the best bat he'd ever used. He wants it to break so he can buy a new one! This was Milnthorpe vs Ambleside in the Readers Westmorland League Division One.
-
Not really seen anything too exotic yet. One of our youngsters has a well used Warsop Venom. A couple of Willowstix Anacondas were on display by our opposition at the weekend, and one of their youngsters aimed a ferocious drive and lost the inside toe corner of a very new looking Chase - ouch!
-
Blank Bats gloves by a Joyce brother at our win away to Belhus.
-
Blank Bats gloves by a Joyce brother at our win away to Belhus.
top win that, one of your bowlers got 95? is belhus an absolute road like everyone says?
-
Young lad was using a Nixon storm in a recent game, flew off the middle. Traditional profile, thin edges.
-
A guy on saturday have a lovely laver, looked like an older one. Middle sounded great
-
top win that, one of your bowlers got 95? is belhus an absolute road like everyone says?
He's our all-rounder! So no surprise.
Erm from the feedback it was a decent track, could have come on better but with this weather no worries!
I came in at 9 so only faced one ball!
-
someone had a very nice lukeys bat today looked big and he cracked a decent 30ish
-
15 overs per side match, saw a Fatbat and a Redback in use.
Badly.
-
saw a redback allegiance with 7 sin stickers, 2 guys at our club have got bats from lords ground when they have been to watch a game there stickerd as gn, two h4l 666, a boom boom and a lovely l&w also rumor has it a h4l was seen hitting 96 last saturday great knock Jase.
-
There was a nice spyder bat on show today, used decently as well... Until I got him with the off cutter! ;)
-
Lad playing against us had a willowstix slogger bat and gloves...another lad had a bundle off of us so was head to toe in Ayrtek :)
-
anyone at the dulwich sports ground on Thursday will see a black bat having its first outing...!
-
Black bat? Is that like the ones they used to used in the Stanford 20/20? :D
-
I played against a couple of guys today who were head to toe in millichamp & hall.
They didn't score many runs between them though :D
-
Lukeys Sports bat on show at Ambleside today, first one I've seen in the Westmorland League...after watching the ball fly over the ropes for two huge sixes I decided that it had a reasonable middle on it, despite the batter telling me it was only £80.
-
Lukey does get his bats from a few different places, and does have an £80 range
-
I played against a couple of guys today who were head to toe in millichamp & hall.

We've got a few of them in our team too, maybe 3 or 4 all M&H.... doesn't help them all t hat much either :)
-
Our opposition skipper yesterday had an M&H bat and bag, didn't stop him walking into one and getting a quick one on his elbow and having to sit out the rest of the game!
-
Johnny
It was quite a nice looking stick, modern profile but fairly subdued...for £80, I would say a bargain! The guy using it said he was given it to try out and could take it back if not impressed, I think it's fair to say he was impressed.
-
Played against a guy during the week who was using a bat that had ZA stickers, never seen this brand before and it seemed to go okay, he said he got it from a mate in Pakistan but it looked pretty old and well used - anyone heard of these before?
He also had a brand new M&H Distinction in his bag that was too heavy for him and he was going to send back to M&H to have some weight taken off. I picked it up and it felt pretty nice to me but it was 2lb9oz and I'm used to something heavier, wasn't impressed with the grainage but the spine height was very impressive! Still think I prefer the older profile.
We'll be playing them again (weather permitting) in a few weeks so if I can I'll get a picture of the ZA.
Another chap in his team had a Bellingham & Smith bat, classy player and a nice sounding bat, didn't get a close up look at the bat.
-
I saw a redback paradox in my midweek game this week. First one I've seen out in the wild other than mine. Looked like the baby brother of my 3lb monster but went well.
-
I saw an RK stickered bat today, but it was me using it...
-
Saw a Laver Private bin on show. Asked him if it was knocked in and said it sounds clunky cos it's got the carbo handle insert.
Looked nice.
-
Yesterday our oppostions no.3 had a Canterbury 500 and there kit bat was a Sommer.
-
Last week there was a Redback Paradox on show and yesterday Peplow's Laver looked and sounded good.
-
Guy from Lansdown had an Ayrtek lid and bat - didnt know how to use the bat!!!
-

What about the lid?!
-
Bat and lid?? Hmmm not sure who that is but good to see the kit getting out in the local areas
-
Played against a guy on Saturday who batted in SP batting mittens and had an original Scoop with a white facing.
Couldn't tell you how good the bat was though as he spent 13 overs scoring 3 runs. The oppo managed 71-8 in 46 overs chasing our paltry 97 AO - worst game I've played in for years!

Outifeld up to your ankles?!
-
A little, but also a staggering lack of ambition on their part. They scored 6 off the last 13 overs. They needed 30 runs from 20 overs I think.
I bowled 4 overs of lobs for 6 runs.
They just patted everything back - all for 1 point!
Incredible.
-
Saw a little fella wearing an ayrtek lid today when helping out with our Under15s
-
lovely blueroom yesterday and an ayrtek today... first of both for me.
-
Saw a player using a huge H4L today, looked heavy but a nice bit of wood!
-
lad at 20/20 yesterday using a bat with pink ninja stickers? said he was on here
-
saw a young lad using a H4L, used it blummin well got 60 odd
-
I'm yet to see anybody use stuff but my RPC gets sooooo much attention
-
A young lad the other week had a Vulcan at Coggeshall, custom made stickers. Play with somebody who has a Zeus as well which is a gun! I still want to see a H4L in person :(
If you want to see a H4L in person you could buy mine? :D
-
Saw a h4l in a sunday game in hampton
-
Woodstock Tour De Force Platinum
Saw a guy from the other team use the Woodstock this weekend. Wow! He hit two effortless sixes, and to be honest he did not look like a half-decent batsman. I can only imagine what this would be like in the hands of a quality batsman. Initially, I thought it was a Newberry from a distance (similar labels IMHO) but during one of our breaks, I had a chance to get an up-close look and was super chuffed to see someone use a unique brand like Woodstock in the SS, GM, GN, CA saturated market that Canada is. I would not say it was super meaty, but it picked up like a dream and the profile seems tailor made for slow/low artificial wickets. Tempted...
-
What bat is Tarun Nethula using in the ODI series vs New Zealand?
-
Don't mention Tarun Nethula - he was playing as overseas pro for a team we played against and he clean bowled me. Think he took a 5-fer against us and then looked like a decent bat too! Really nice guy too!
-
Saw a laver and wood special reserve the other week in the hands of an Ashtead player
-
Yeah Pete, he took a 5 fer, scored a 50 then joined us in the pub for beers....a really nice bloke. He was using a Piri Piri stickered bat against us then but he was saying he didn't have a sponsor as such (this was last season I think?) He was really interested in my Talisman....he made a cheeky offer for it!
-
I keep seeing a Shark and RK stickered Laver, the only trouble is that they're mine and aren't getting any use because of all the rain. I'm actually getting seriously depressed and may wright to the MCC asking if they can check their archives just to make sure cricket isn't an indoor game and actually we've been getting wrong all these years by playing it outside!
-

If only there was a like button!
-
A lad at my mate's side is dressed head to toe in Blueroom kit, the pink ones, gets a fair bit of stick for the colours I've heard!
-
I hope the guy is a decent player, especially wearing the full armoury in pink!
-
I hope the guy is a decent player, especially wearing the full armoury in pink!
Well he got 80 odd in the game I watched, so he must be decent!
-
Ought to mention I've seen a Nixon being wielded in brutal fashion in one of our games.
-
Guy playing against us today had adidas gloves with black palms? I wasn't aware that adidas did gloves with black palms, think they must have been a pro or special edition. He was the kind of guy who had 'all the gear, no idea'
-
Today I saw a Spyder, an enormous Bradbury players and a very unusual GN XXX, which I got out in two balls...
-
saw a juniour H4L, went like a gun, helped him soar past 50...was a very good player and was only 15 :o
-
Played against a guy with full m&h gear at a sixes on Sunday including a Hughes master bat. Safe to say it stayed hit with that one
-
Saw a laver reserve in full flow in a T20 last night.
Went miles. Pick up was amazing. Huge willow and a fair amount of concaving. He passed 50 the I has him caught on the boundary.
-
2 lavers in action last Saturday, first was an old school model in which he scored around 10 fours effortlessly along the ground driving beautifully. Second one was laver in the special profile, he got 50 plus as well.
-
A guy playing for Lancs U19s was kitted out in all Lukeys gear, I would assume he's sponsored. It looks pretty decent stuff
-
I get the feeling this thread could have a quite a few updates after the AOC CBF game sunday!
-
@matt I'll bet that was Fayaz Ughradar?
-
Saw an Aldred in the flesh for the first time yesterday, Supreme 5*, lovely grains and profile. It's owner (who is a very good player) made 28 before being run out which was a real shame as he was playing very well.
-
Played against a H4L Excel - seemed to go very well with some very clean hitting from its owner who scored a fifty.
-
A few lads had woodstocks for the opposition this weekend
-
Played against 5/6 guys using Ian Wills gear yesterday all looked quite modern shaped bats and all looked very light for the shape. Softs looked tidy as well.
http://ianwillscricket.co.uk/index.php
-
Played against a H4L Excel - seemed to go very well with some very clean hitting from its owner who scored a fifty.
Where do you play cricket and who was the team please????
-
I was playing for Fulwood & Broughton 3rd XI v Garstang 2nds
-
Took my boy to play in his first county match last Monday, he was playing for Oxon U16 vs Northants.
The opposition had 2 M&H and a Blue Room. lots of "onhands" bats in both teams.
he lost!!!
-
Not custom bats, but a bit of interest to some of you guys of a certain age maybe. Spotted a Hunts County Reflex with a very sharply chiselled toe, also a Prince Gold (anyone heard of them?) - big old bat that one!
-

Don't know the Prince Gold. Have a Reflex like that in my Vintage collection - it's still lovely!
-
Both were still going well - built to last! :D
-
@matt I'll bet that was Fayaz Ughradar?
No it wasn't, I think he was called Mark Walling. Fayeez could have well had Lukeys stuff but I didn't notice it
-
Umpired an U-17s game tonight where one of the openers for the other team had an Uzi Green Mamba
-
It will have been mark! Fayaz was using a newbery last time i saw him!
-
A guy I played against was using a SAF Fabrica last night, he hit a few and it went well. Asked him about it after the game and he said he picked it up on eBay
-
Watched my boy playing for Radley yesterday. One of his team mates had a SAF, Bat went very.
-
Played against an M&H yesterday and also someone using Kippax gloves
-
Played against a Talisman and a lad with head to toe Woodstock gear...Talisman guy sadly got a first baller and Woodstock lad didn't last much longer (Good win for us!!)
The chap with the Talisman happened to have a new SS Jumbo in his bag as well.....really, really nice but as he said, not worth £275......he got his from eBay I think for a lot, lot less. Good guy he was, I think he's a lurker on here somewhere???? :D
Just to add, as usual saw a lot of Chase gear....very popular in the Hants leagues..
-
Oppo had an old school chase, & a lad had a 3-2 m&h master which he bought with pads gloves n bag combo. Said he was thinking about getting another @ 3-5!!
-

Is that Hengrove you play for mate? Think I've encountered the m&h master wielder too if so!
-
Yes, he was a big lad playing for abbots leigh
-
Saw a shark this weekend, used by an absolute helmet, a talentless cricketer who had to resort to bullying our 14-16 year old players to have a good game.
Shame really as the bat looked lovely!
-
Here's one for the older members on here....played against a guy using a Special Counties!! He said he'd had it for 15 seasons, hand made in Dewsbury by Clough Ward, batmaker was a guy who used to make bats for Slazenger before they stopped making bats in the UK. Has anyone else ever seen a Special Counties? It was a classic profile, 2lb 13 ish according to the batter, still pinged quite nicely.
-
Special Counties, or Senior Counties?
-
Saw an Rpc being launched in to the changing rooms yesterday with a good force behind it... Ow wait it was me :(
-
Yes they were around ribblesdale league
People either had these or ace
-
Tom
Yep, that's the one...Senior Counties! How long have you had that one?
Pete
-
One of the openers I played against last weekend had a DF retro, went pretty well - but quite an Indian shape...
-
Played against some M&Hs today, the next batter in had an Ayrtek Premier and a Screaming Cat
-
Got to watch one of our bats score a few runs today with the oppo, lad who owns it then passed it onto his captain when he got out...needless to say I told him it was a plank and wouldn't be of much use lol
-
Thursday I played at the bank of England, one of the home team had a Colt Cricket Comp bat.
Saturday I umpired as Hosk's team pulled out, Deddington 2nd Vs Kilkenny 2nd.
The Deddington opener had M&H bat pads and he later kept with M&H gloves, all very nice. Did have a sneaky look at his bat during drinks, nasty crack up near the splice.
Also on show in the Kilkenny side were Ayrtex gloves and pads and a rather big kippax bat.
-
Thursday I played at the bank of England, one of the home team had a Colt Cricket Comp bat.
which pitch were you on? did you get to bat on the main square?
not so much of a road if you are on the records office pitch or the Brook
the bank players get a bit of a discount off the colt bats. they are usually pretty decent.
-
We played on the pitch on the left as you drive in. Not the main pitch, but very nice. Young Indian kid had the Colt bat, by far there best bat.
-
The opening bowler at my last game was kitted out in ADEOS... Kit looks really really nice...
-
Played Esher on Saturday, spotted a Woodstock which looked superb and briefly went well - then saw a Blueroom with the old stickers - he wasn't around long though as he edged some of my left arm filth!!
-
Redback Paradox on display at the youth finals day we hosted on Sunday, lad didn't get hold of too much on a green track though. Also one Ayrtek helmet.
Disappointingly low representation of the smaller brands!
-
Played against a pink solitaire at the weekend.
-
Also last weekend a lad was using, I think, an Alyas bat that went extremely well with some massive sixes.
-
A lad playing for Surrey U16s was wearing an Ayrtek lid today, didn't get to see what model though. He was also using an M&H Distinction
-
One of the guys I play with on a saturday has just got an M&H original with a super short handle, and retro stickers to boot. Looked absolutely lovely, apart from the middle being too high for my liking. Another kid scored his first senior 50 with a brand new bradbury. Went like an absolute train too, even though it didn't look or feel that big!
-
Saw one of the Lukeys own bats in use at the weekend - very impressive and the guy really knew how to use it too.
-
Who were you playing against trypewriter?
-
I wasn't playing in that game, ours had finished embarrassingly early, so I was watching another while having a social drink.
-
Played a team from Hampshire yesterday, on show were a few Chase bats and a Funky bat. One chase bats was 3" longer than normal, 1.5" longer blade and 1.5" longer handle, it was being used by a giant!!! He went up to Chase and had it made for him by Dan while he was there.

Mr CG is in Hampshire now? ;)
-
Went to watch the 1st team yesterday and one of the oppo had Ayrtek gloves, Ayrtek helmet, BAS pads Insinct bat and a Ayrtek bag. I suspect a forum member ;)
-
The team we played today had 3 Warsops. One of our guys had an Ayrtek Premier Ti, so unusually I wasn't the only Ayrtek wearer.
-
Played against a team yesterday, where one of the players had a Millichamp and Hall Amplus! Not sure if it was the mark 2 or not, but those kind of bats are rare up here in Scotland. :P
-
Saw a newbery uzi c6+ and a newbery thruxton yesterday in our game. Other game going on at the same time featured a H4L 666
