Played with a massive hangover after a very boozy Friday night.
We fielded first, tea was nice, and I was out for a golden for the first time ever!!

Never drinking again!

Covers vandalised over night.

Wheels kicked off of the sight screens.

With a raised blood pressure we batted first.
244 all out, a 14 year old top scored for us with 60. I was last out for 5 (dick shot trying to put a full toss into the next county!)
The opposition cased it down for 4 inside 40 overs, their opener got a 50 (dropped 3 times) and their number 3 got an unbeaten 120odd (dropped on 0!) I bowled okay, 6 overs 1-28.

I hate cricket...

Lost the toss today and fielded first, we bowled them out for 108, I took 3-31 off 10, pitch was turning nicely for me today. and we chased it down inside 20!

Like a few others, i'm feeling i might need to leave my current team aswell. Captain tells me every week that i'll be bowling and batting higher but it never materializes. I've been batting most of the last 2 seasons at 8 bar the first game of last season when i batted at 6 and made 48 then found my way to 8 for the next game with the team being the exact same. Our team seems to be mainly picked on who kisses up to the captain the most with a specific player only opening the bowling and batting in the top order because his father threatened to pull him out of our team and take him somewhere else. I've been at the club since i was 13 (23 now) and i feel like its just a waste of my time playing matches now because of this. I haven't bowled a single over this season and have only batted once where i was involved in an unbroken 35 run partnership to win the game with the so called big guns failing to show up as per usual. I'm currently at the stage where i think if im not being used properly what is even the point of me playing.

Finally back playing for the team I am actually registered for and pleased to say we beat the team who at start of play were top of our division. We fielded first and for the first match this season (and perhaps a number of seasons), I didn't get called upon to bowl. Not too disappointed as it was testament to how well the first 4 bowlers performed and we knocked over the opposition for 133. They were also backed up in the field with some smart fielding including a bizarre run out as a straight drive hit the stumps then deflected to our best fielder who then ran out what looked like the visitor's best batsman.

Our reply didn't start too well as the opposition matched us in the field and at one stage we were 13-3 before some steady batting took us to around 70 when I came at No.7. Another wicket fell soon afterwards but then a young lad came to the crease who flailed the ball to all parts so I just held up an end and let him get on with it. Finally I started to time the ball and pulled a short ball for a boundary but very next delivery I got another shocker of a LBW decision. This time I was attempting to flick the ball to square leg but only succeeded in middling it into my pads and I'm afraid I could not contain my anger regarding the decision (it was one of our own players who was umpiring).  I had only scored 15 but had taken us to 112 so in my mind the game was very much still in the balance and I was sat in the changing room with steam coming out my ears. However we overhauled their total without further alarms and with 7 overs to spare.

I did apologise for my outburst after the game but I have batted less than 10x this season and this is now the 3rd time I have erroneously been given out.

They got 202/9 in their 45 overs. We conceded 62 extras!!!!!!! We were bowled out for 150. We are ashamed and appalled at our performance. I ran myself uut for 21. Their bowling was terrible and we all got ourselves out stupidly. We are second in the division (still). They are bottom (still). very poor.

Ended up with a vital win today by chasing down 231.
Opened the bowling and saw the first 3 balls pitched up and despatched for 4.
Thought I'd try back of a length, but ended up bowling a rank half tracker, which was spooned to gulley ;)
Took a couple more wickets with legitimate balls as well.
In chase wasn't required with the runs knocked off for 3.

Had what I shall refer to as an "interesting" day yesterday.

We spent 50 overs in the field as both their openers scored 154 and 157 between them closing on 339-0.....ive personally never had so many runs scored past us without taking a single wicket.

Im taking credit for what happened next after my inspirational team talk at the half way mark. We were 23/4 when i was still getting my pads on in the changing room at #6 and heard the death rattle from outside.

We chased them down with 2 overs and 2 wickets to spare after our #7 smashed 122 off of just 69 balls to see us all but home. I chipped in with a few in the process and the boys were jubilant to say the least after chasing down that monster total and spending 50 overs in the dirt 1st half of the game. Fair to say their lads were a little shell shocked!

Nice one mate, always a good deck down there and a quick outfield.

Played a great game yesterday given the weather in Burton,

Fielding first we were going well at drinks they were 50 ish for none, then the weather came and killed all our momentum on three occasions, even an early tea didn't help us they ended up 212-8.
Given the damp pitch and very wet outfield it was going to take some batting, and that's what happened our openers saw us home in 33 overs 215-0 winning with a driven four, one opener finished 103 the other 94 and guess who was down to bat three
Yep your truly so pad rash for 33 overs but well worth it for such a great win

Had an absolute shocker yesterday:

Turned up an hour late
Dropped a catch
Got a duck
Forgot to bring match fee

and to cap it all
Blocked the toilet

We did win though.

We bowled. Had the oppo 117-6 off 23. Combination of good balls mixed with some terrible stuff. At one stage they scored 50 and lost two wickets in 17 balls!!

Great tea though, couple of ciders and then me and our Aussie cleaned up on the pool table.

Was taught as lesson in cricket yesterday, Cardiff CC lost the toss and were put into bat where they went on to score 360-3 with their left handed opener scoring an unbeaten 169 and they proceeded to bowl us out for a poor 56 meaning a 304 run loss. Wasn't a fun day to say the least.

Team got hammered yesterday 😢

I nearly saw off their opening bowler who is somewhere between 82 and 80 mph (I did a load of bowling machine pre game so can sort of judge him compared to it)... I tried to hook him twice and was about 3 days too mate! Safe to say I'm not good enough to pull/hook that pace.. Was good fun and to get kind words from him and wepl's top umpire makes the training worth while.

Returned to action in the 4th XI this week after being unfit to play, but spending the match standing at slip and hobbling between ends. We won the toss and batted first on a dodgy pitch in overcast conditions, causing me to express surprise at the skipper's decision.

I was proved wrong as our 14-year-old number three made an elegant eighty, with useful 10-20s from the rest of the middle order, taking us to 163-6 when I came in to bat. Along with our number seven, we managed a 51-run partnership. I made 25 before getting out to a length ball that didn't bounce from their spinner, leaving us to declare at 214-7 off 45.4 overs. I'm very pleased with my contribution, scoring my highest ever score for the team, and hopefully securing myself the opportunity to bat a bit more this season.

I opened the bowling, bowling pretty quick (for the level) and making life uncomfortable for the batsmen with pace and bounce, hitting the gloves and edges several times, without luck. At the other end, my opening partner took three early wickets, as we looked to wrap them up early. Unfortunately, we were plagued by rain throughout the opposition's innings, and eventually they finished 121-5 off 29 overs, as the ground had deteriorated to the point where it was unplayable (and the groundsman was not a happy man). We got the winning draw and four bonus points, giving us 6 in total. I ended up with 0-36 off 9 overs despite one of my best and quickest bowling performances of the season.

All in all, a good day for the team, and I'm very happy with my own performance.
