Lost by 25 runs :( Happy enough with my bowling yesterday, taking 3/38 from 11 overs. Was feeling good with the bat scoring 9 off 6 before a half tracker decided not to bounce!

First game of the season was a cracker, we got 198 and had them about 170 for 6 with 7/8 overs to go - all out for 176

Got 32 myself, hit a pair of 6s back over the openers' head and then pretty much misjudged a straight one before clattering my pads. Debatable LBW but should've hit it in the first place!

Inter club game yesterday, I didn't fair so well. 3 overs 0 for about 18 and lbw on 11. Think I need to bat with glasses on now which is a bummer but we'll see how well that goes today! Wish me luck

Played Graveney CC yesterday.

Bowled them out for 51.

My figures, 3-2-1-3

Batted 3 and got 2*
Game was finished by 4pm... Bit of a waste of an afternoon.

Today was our first friendly...
40runs not out.....missed the last two balls for the winning run so the game was a draw.

Great first game of the season, despite only having 7 players. Batting first our opener was run out from a mix up and then our star bat soon followed leaving us 7-2, effectively 7-6. Then our other opener and me put on 163. Finished on 195, I was run out trying to get back on strike in the last over for 94. My new H4L NV is great, very pleased. Our opening bowler then bowled just about the best ball of his life - seamed away and knocked the off bail off without hitting the stumps, only to be signalled no ball! Had them 40-3 but then a 50 and a century from two of their players saw them home with 1 over to spare. All played in great spirit.

Scored a 48 ball 32 on Saturday opening the batting before getting out trying to smash their opening bowler.  Then the rest of the team went nuts and smashed 341 in 45 overs.

We then dropped 10 catches in the field and still bowled the oppo out for 222.

Just happy to spend some time in the middle.  Apparently I've developed a paddle sweep over the winter?  God knows how, I didn't practice it at all in the winter but middled 3 of them off their medium pacers for four!   :)

We played Surrey Uni 1st XI on Saturday, we had a very weak team out. They scored 196-9 off of 40 overs, we chased them down in 23 overs, I think the boys wanted to watch the football!!

Not great personally only made about 3 before leaving one that nipped back to clip off stump!

We were bowled out for a measley 81 after having a much stronger batting line up than last year.

But we ended up bowling them out for 37 so a good escape first up.

Due to work taking me away from the family for 4 nights a week i have decided cricket is going to be thin on the ground for me this year but on Sunday i supported the team and played in a cup game.. always a challenge to put a side out twice at the weekend.

Lots of new playerss this year after we got promoted last year and as a fill in i didn't expect higher than 9/10 but after being put into bat i ended up batting at 7, heading out to the middle with 10 overs to go. I ended on 17 no and probably had a 50+ partnership so all in all not too bad. We ended up on 227 but the oppo knocked them off with about 7 overs to spare.

We played on a wicked that scored nearly 600 runs on the sat and 450 not he sunday. the boundary was rediculasly short though. I think all in we lost 7 balls to the local surrounding gardens.

It was good to get a few runs though, it might have been a bit agricultural at time but i did my bit, hit the bad ball an rotated the strike to get the inform man facing.

Needless to say the cricketing gremlin on my left shoulder that didn't agree with family being the priority has found his voice again.

Busy week this week, playing University of Gloucestershire 1st's at Tewekesbury on Wednesday, followed by Bristol CC 1st's on Sunday. The following week, playing another Uni game in Cardiff, then back to West Somerset to play for my club, a lot of travelling!

Bugger all runs but took 2-15 and 3-12 from a combined 11 overs this weekend, so a good start with the ball at least, was happy to see I've finally regained the ability to nip the ball back in as well as move it away!

Second best quote i have heard in 24 hours..

First one being... what would be the point of cricket without a bit of on field banter.
