Was a bit nervous about the start of the season as I spent the winter in Australia and failed to get a great deal of runs and spent the last English season nicking off for around 15 almost every game.

Relieved to kick off with 48, 53 retired and 76 though.

Won a couple of friendlies, one against an attack that featured an aussie who won Sydney's grade comp this year and trapped Owais Shah LBW for 0 at the weekend and one against a friendly team who we retired 4 batsmen against and beat by 180 runs. Lost our first league match at the weekend though which was thoroughly disappointing, partially attributable to losing an important toss but also a poor batting performance and a bad first 15 overs with the ball.

Hopefully we'll improve next week

Despite having spent 125 overs practicing the my action whenever a captain has looked at me, no skipper has yet seen fit to allow me to throw (literally) some filthy offies down...gutted!

Had a bit of a forum match Saturday, it was me @19reading87 @Maverick79  v @kenbriooo . Naturally superior forum numbers and super super willow won out as we triumphed by 60 odd runs. @Maverick79 (Chris) getting us off to a flyer with a quickfire 36 and @19reading87 slogging a 23* at the end of our 203-4 in 45. @kenbriooo holed out for 1 or 2 after being sent in at 7 when the game was all but lost, thanks in part to my 2-26 on a stodgy surface where pace off ruled. They ended up 141-9.

Got stuck in on a drying pitch on Saturday. Nicked off for 1, umpire later telling me he wouldn't have given it but I always walk so hey ho. We struggled to 131 all out with the oppo bowling well on a testing track and one of the slowest outfields I've every played on!
We kept chipping away with wickets and they got a bit nervy as our spinners found the pitch to their liking. Eventually came down to needing 9 to win with 1 wicket in hand and we ran out their last real batsman with a couple of balls to go giving us a 4 run victory. Great feeling when you win the low scoring matches, even when you contribute precisely zero!

On another note, opposition teamwear was all B3 and one of their lads had a B3 bat too

Season maybe a complete write-off as dislocated little finger and damaged joint had op last week currently in plaster. Gutted and frustrated is an understatement.

Slogging??!?!?!?!?

You certainly weren't nudging, caressing or stroking the ball when you charged the opening bowler and hit him over long on for six!

Got a good wind behind me and for the first time I've ever seen at our place a pitch with a bit in it for the quicks on Saturday! Came on first change with the openers both still in and bounced out the better one (nice looking Vantage) in my first over, got a steam up and took 4-22 as we bowled them out for 89 in pursuit of our below-par 198. Such a nice change from our usual slow low track to see the keeper standing miles back taking it at shoulder height, I'm praying for midweek rain for the rest of the season.
Unfortunately only made 14 with the bat, felt good before toeing a half volley not quite over mid on.

I would like to point out that coming in needing 10+ an over I was not going to play for my average as others may have done. I did make sure I didn't get out to you tho @uknsaunders as I'd have not managed to live it down.

Least I did manage to claim one forum scalp with a half decent catch, but you've forgotten to mention @19reading87 three dropped catches! 😜

2 dropped catches actually!! Lol

First one bounced infront of me

Second would have killed me

Third would have been the catch of the century

No idea why you were batting so low Kenny. Given only righton showed any urgency in the top 4, you can't of done any worse. Plus the top 4 had the benefit of some pace on the ball, which we all know was a lot easier to score against on that deck.

Lol - you only just survived against me! Remember missing that first ball that was an inch from off stick  :D

Bit of a funny game really. We batted first in strong winds, on a pitch with a large slope. All out for 127, I top scored with 23 before being given out caught behind off my pad. Wasn’t too miffed as it’s something that happens!
In reply they were 52-1 off 10 overs, I came on and took 4/23 from 9 overs. We bowled them all out for 127. So yeah we tied.

I played my first game for my new club on Saturday.  After an all concurring 2014, where the club I helped found won everything. I decided it was time to move on and play at a more relaxing standard.  So I went from a side that won division one to the team that came bottom of division ten. I would add that last year I was mainly used as the number 11 and boundary fielder. In total I faced 32 balls all season.

With the pitch a little damp after overnight rain, the opposition put us into bat. I was down to bat a 7.  but after 4 overs I found myself walking out to bat with the score at 13 for 5. Soon after we were 23 for 9.  A last wicket stand saw us limp to 70 all out. I batted ok for my 38, before lobbing an easy catch to square leg.  I have been kicking myself since.

And I reckon you found a it lfar more rewarding than batting at 11 and fielding on the boundary.
