Played my second Sunday game this season today.
We got 182 all out and bowled them out for about 120.
Had one of those games when everything went well.
39 not out
4-12 with the ball including a hat trick with my first 3 balls.
Also took an absolute blinder at gully.
Tea was a success too

Were you at home mate? Drove passed about 6 but couldn't see any white shirt sour so kept going. Sounds like you had a great day!

Spitting feathers... who on earth thinks it's a good idea to let 13 year old kids umpire when they have no clue about the rules? Fielded for 40 overs this afternoon in a Sunday friendly just so I could open the batting then was given out LBW when only the bloke at mid-on appealed. To make matters worse, I had to hold my tongue when I left the field because I was guesting for a church team and didn't know if his father was one of the players.

@Boondougal we were away at Misterton mate.

Let me know the next time you're round this way, we can have a beer or a net, or both.

Batted first, I made 72 and we reached a total of 200 from 40 overs. After teas we took regular wickets and bowled them out for 48. Brilliant day out, but boy was it windy!

Had a rare sunday appearance guesting for @uknsaunders ' Marlow Vets side at Bledlow, an absolutely gorgeous ground at the foot of the chilterns, with a steam railway next door for added character.- thanks Nick. Opened up, felt  in good touch and yet again got a start (27) before inexplicably missing a straight one. We got a sound hiding, they cruised to their 200 target with some impressive batting.

Glad you enjoyed it. We came second but it was a lovely day. Only ruined by me forgetting to bring my kit home, so a return journey in the next few days for me :-(

I had an average weekend. Kept like a drain on Saturday and then only scored two. Scored 36 on Sunday but I can't seem to hit it off the square at the minute.

Red Inca for me on Saturday. Went in on 175/4 chasing 176. One ball left in the over, wanted to finish with a 6 naturally but the non-striker informed me they needed one more wicket for an extra point so a forward defensive was the order of the day. 1 ball faced 0no.

Better fortune on Sunday 57 opening the bat my 2nd consecutive 50 for the Sunday team. Giving me a Sunday XI average of 69... and a First XI average of 6.

Possibly reflective of the difference in levels but probably more reflective of my confidence/attitude in the respective teams...

Well if that's that how they feel then so be it no skin off my nose, then for you to call me arrogant on a forum - where I talk about myself, who else am I going to talk about? How can I vent other peoples frustrations. It was made clear at the end of the game there would be no discussion when your captain refused to shake my hand, I find that disgraceful. Despite my dissapiontment which you get in cricket I offered to shake everybody's hand to be refused by a full grown man!

Also, 3 decisions that were out were given by our players umpiring, how do you lot expect to get decisions appealing every ball whether it's blocked, hit for four or skimmed of the pads. More than I can say for your boys. I did not umpire so can not tell if all the 'appeals' were valid as it is a trek from the scorebox to the wicket. See you later in the season, hopefully you bat first and you lot can "reap what you sow".

But also I see you avoided about the edge to the keeper, go and ask the bloke if he hit it, because he didn't look me in the eye for the rest of the day after not walking. @richthekeeper

To be fair our captain is a (No Swearing Please). As for the lad in question, he is a 100% walker and he insists he didn't feel anything on his bat. Luckily cricket is a game of opinions - at least it gives us something to discuss. Proper conduct on the field works both ways and you have to respect the decision of the umpire even if you think it's wrong. People are also human and make mistakes, it happens.

You genuinely can't win when umpiring your own games, it's really difficult. Speaking generally now; if you umpire first, set a harsh standard with wides and don't give blatant lbw decisions then you're setting yourself up for retribution by the opposition. Then again if you bat first and umpire fairly there's always a chance of the oppo screwing you over in the 2nd knock. I find the fairest thing to do is be as fair as possible on everything and only give the "stone dead" lbw decisions, but even that upsets my moral compass as I'm a level 1 umpire.

What I don't agree with is sending youngsters out to umpire who don't know the rules, but then again if you have a young team there's often little option. The amount of stumpings I miss out on due to the lad at square leg not paying attention is criminal.

If it's any consolation I played first team Saturday and the neutral umpires were just as awful, giving some of the worst decisions I've ever seen including a catch behind that I didn't even appeal for because the batsman was nowhere near it.

So yes, I will hopefully see you later in the season, and if I nick it I'll walk. @calcurtis98
