Good win yesterday playing 2s at home. Lost toss and were asked to field, restricted them to 169ao in 40. Got 2/41 from 9 and my spin twin got 5/43 from 8.1, and we had tea needing about 140 from 48 with 10 wickets left. Captain then caught for 43, then a few quick wickets meant I went in with 60ish still needed in 30 overs. Opener then got bowled so so finished the innings batting with one of the lads I've coached for the last five years which was nice. We put on 50ish in not very long to finish it off, I got 37* and he had 12*, extra cover had a lot of running to do as I kept driving it past him on a rapid outfield. Pity about the wicket though, quite fast but very little bounce or carry, I suspect due to the lack of grass on it. Our wicket for using the cage is actually the best on the square at the moment!

First league duck In a few years but the team won easily so no worries. I'm sure the standard last year in the division below was better.

Pulled our fingers out today and smashed the top of the table team. We made 177ao thanks @Maverick79 scoring a quick 46 upfront and then @19reading87 providing the late innings charge with 68. Got 1 before I received one that bounced a bit and nicked off. The wicket was dry but slow and starting to dust. Fancied our chances and I was licking my lips at a nice turner. However, wasn't needed as our seam attack knocked them over for 68. Return match next week and  we would love to do the double over them.

Tied t20 game yesterday, batted first and posted 139, got my first six of the season with the RS bat [emoji4]. We were looking comfortable while bowling as the other team needed 50 in 4 overs but then had 2 good overs and came down to 9 off 2 overs. Last over they needed 4 runs with 2 wickets in hand. First ball they scored a double so 2 off 5 balls, I was the bowler [emoji16]. Couple of dots a wicket and a single made it 1 needed of the last ball. Managed to squeeze in a good Yorker and bowled the guy. Very satisfying

Had a late call to help out a team today,,set off on the 320 mile round trip, to be told, when I was only 30 mins away from the ground, that the oppos had called it off, due to it looking like it could rain???

I'd seriously peed the missus off by saying I would help the team out in the first place, and now I've wasted a Sunday due to non existent rain. >:(

And the Chertsey Juggernaut continues!!  This week we were playing 2nd in the table (we are 3rd) with a much weakened team from last week.

Predictably, we batted poo, and struggled to 130 all out off 40 overs.

We then bowled and fielded superbly to knock over the oppo for 90 with yours truly picking up his regulation 3 wickets - 10-4-24-3  I think.

We are now 3rd in the table by 1 point, but crucially we have 2 games in hand on both the top 2 sides.

But sod the team - it's all about me!! I've now taken 15 league wickets at 8.80 each in 5 league games. Coming from the last 2 seasons where I've barely been able to land it - I can't tell you how happy I am to be contributing!!

Great day for Chalfont St Giles CC today. We passed clubmark inspection this morning :) then it started raining. Ended up with a delayed start against a team from our league's Sunday XI, and a soft pitch as it had been rained on a fair bit between the groundsman and I deciding that we wouldn't need the covers out as the rain would be there for 20 minutes and blow over and that the square needed some water for the new seed bed, and mother nagging me incessantly to put the covers on an hour later. I'm pretty sure mum, who is Sunday manager, wanted me to call it off!

Ended up losing the toss and batting first, pitch was a bit soft from the rain but looked like it should have some zip to it. It didnt, was the most difficult wicket I have played on for a long time. We ended up all out for 147 from 31.4, of which I chipped in a captain's knock of 50* from number 6. Accelerated when number 9 joined me and ended up with 4x4s and a big straight six. We then bowled the oppo out in 21 overs for 76, with the youngsters doing most of the bowling. Got a run out in the first over of their innings, and from then on we were in control, and it seemed every bowling change I made brought results. Some of my team could have been more accomodating/complained a lot less, but that is an issue for another topic.

Did OK for the 2's on Saturday, we batted first and racked up a mammoth 282. After getting dropped I wanted to ensure I got a half decent score! So opening up I was more cautious than ever and took a lengthy 31 overs to hit 85 before snicking the leg spinner behind to the keeper. Gutted to miss out on a ton, but will be back in the 1st's I hope.

Anyway, the other team knocked off our 282 with one guy getting 124*, gutted!

Bowled for the first time in 3-4 years for the 2nds on Saturday and got 5-15 off my full 9 overs. Made my day much more enjoyable because I wasn't happy having only got 15 with the bat beforehand....

Finally in the runs with a 43 ball 54 against Epsom batting 10 on Sat!

Then 2nd game as captain of our Surrey Trust League (mix of colts and adults) and we won by 9 wickets! Certainly a relief after losing by 300 runs the week before.
