Saturday rained off after one innings, where we had a bit of a mare. Dropped 7/8 catches again (4 off me) and fielded awfully. I was fine in the field apart from one that bounced through my long barrier for 4. Oppo 212/8 from 52, personally got 2/45 from 11, though an oppo bat didnt walk after smashing one to the keeper which was disappointing. Results meant we ended 2nd in the league, so we certainly celebrated hard!

Sunday was another kettle of fish altogether. Away to Chenies, who only had ten, apart from 3 youngsters considerably older than my whippersnappers. One of their chaps was a Bucks over 70s bat. We had them 1/1 before 3 of my team arrived, and 1/3 in the 3rd, before a big partnership. They ended 200/7, number 4 got a deserved 105*, Bucks guy got 45. Personally got a run out but no wickets. Opened the innings, and did two things for the first time ever: had to change my gloves, and retired an innings to give someone else a go. Retired on 69* in the 26th to both allow a mate to have a chance of his first ever hundred, and to allow my colts a bat. Mate did go to 102*, and we won in the 32nd over by 8 wickets. Game was played in absolutely great spirit the whole way through with all 10 who werent keeping bowling at least 3 overs, and was a very enjoyable end to my CSGCC season. Just one more game for Firle to go, and my u15s have their South group vs North group play off to decide who is Bucks champions.

My season is complete and what started with apprehension by moving clubs proved to be my most enjoyable season for a number of years. Personally I was 14 runs short of scoring the most league runs for the club, the lad who got it played 2 innings more but the last game when he didn't play we got rained off!! I should have scored more tho as I only had 1 duck  (first innings, great start!) but plenty of 20s thst I didn't convert frustratingly. Also bowled more than I have in years even opening the bowling, though that says more about the lack of options at the club than my bowling 😉

We managed to avoid relegation due to the team below forfeiting a game, last year it was avoided due to a team dropping out of the League and only one not two teams being relegated. The club is looking at moving competitions for next season as are a few other teams we know of. It may mean a drop in standard for a couple of seasons but as we've struggled for players this season it would allow us to blood some youngsters.
Oh well now I'll be at the mercy of the wife till April 😭

Last Saturday game of the season has been rained off, successful season for me.
Finished top wicket taker for Saturday 2nds, Sunday 1s and overall club wicket taker. So I'm pretty pleased with the season.
Final game of the season tomorrow so hopefully finish strong

League over, couple of friendlies left.

So far today I've cleaned out the washing machine which was full of muck.

Roll on 2017 season.  :)

Playing tomorrow although I probably shouldn't with my finger. If I can hold a bat I'm OK, right?

Not bad to say you'd retired half way through the season, Tommo  ;)

Touche, quite a few people keep reminding of that at the club as well!

Went out on loan.

We were asked to ball and oppo were all out for 115

They were the weirdest bowling side I've ever faced and we knocked them off 1 down in 12 overs.

Unfortunately the one down was me and for a golden duck. First ball pitched on seconds strip, second a full toss I top edged down cover throat.

Thanks for coming. Grrrrr
