It is that time of year again where people are dusting off their kit for preseason, finding some bits of kit are a looking just fractionally used, so not pristine, therefore must be replaced...
Let's see those pictures.
Match kit, net kit, wet weather kit, I don't care!
I appreciate there have been issues with photobucket. So instead use
https://postimages.org/ (https://postimages.org/)
or
http://tinypic.com (http://tinypic.com) both work well and are free.
I am partly tempted to delete lists of kit without pictures...!
-
Where’s the pics of your kit?
Is the lighting not good enough in the darkest recesses of your garage?
-
I haven't got any pictures since my fun pack arrived on Friday... something for Wednesday I think...

Lovely looking Keeley Chris!
Dave doesn’t half love a square toe!
-
Trimmed my bats down recently and have these 4 as my main weapons. The green affinity is replacing the Newbery (formerly a Helios Atlas) which is 5 years old now. Will post the rest of the kit soon as I have too much gear to get out atm haha.

Goodness me Michael!! Bats are not like hair product - you can only use one at a time!
-
Oooh, a lovely Purist that Sir Michael of Vaughan would be proud to walk out with.
-
Pads -morrants international.
Net pads - puma bionic 4000
Gloves - GM 606, SG litevate, Redback. (Not in photo puma 4000 and puma 3000 and Affinity gloves). I've decided to go for mid range gloves this season as I find the high end ones bulky.
Bats - as photographed below. All will be used at least once.

Having not played since I was 18, I've turned out for my wife's work team for a couple of games and really enjoyed it (took a while to get back into the swing of things....my 1st over was 10 balls long!). A combination of a couple of decent knocks (albeit against limited oppo) and my son showing some aptitude with both bat and ball, I've decided to get back into cricket and join a club next season.
As with most of my other pursuits I'm a bit of a gear fiend, so my circa '96 Peak Sports red stripe pads/gloves and a borrowed bat don't cut the mustard! I've been lurking on the forum looking for tips for the past few months, so thanks for all the info. Picked up a Ton butterfly which seems great, plus a used GN dynadrive (used to have one back in the day) from eBay and a Newbery seven academy bat (I'm 5"8 and the dynadrive felt a bit heavy). Stealth accumulation of bargain pads, gloves and other protection will hopefully see me ready for winter nets next month....just need to sort out the dodgy hip, back and tennis elbow!

2lb 7lb!!!!! WHAT!!
-
Yeah pretty light. Fully finished now with edge and toe taped as well as scuff sheet it’s 2lb 8.5
-
@ Calzehbhoy can these Serbian willow bats be purchased directly through hunts? Thought they were high density!
-
Nets start on Tuesday so will be digging out kit and getting it organised shortly 👍
-
@golders What @Neon Cricket said is true they are generally higher density due to the climate I believe. This was a one off made from a super low density cleft they got in when trialling the wood.
If you’re looking for one that is low density I’d have a word with Neon and see if they happen to have anything that’s come in lower density and can be used. I imagine as it’s brand new stock in the UK there must be some more low densities kicking around.
-
Like @Calzehbhoy says, generally they're of a higher density - the first batch were lower density but no doubt this would've been down to the supplier trying to impress them (I'd have certainly done the same!).
If you're interested I can always request if there's any low density available - I've just sorted a rather lovely low density English willow bat out for @Wickets-then-runs, 45mm edge/74mm spine at 2.10 on the nose (will be making it's way to Aus tomorrow!).

I'll try and get pictures of my 2018 gear next week

My first 2018 bat received today. Review to follow.

erm............ most of us have self-confessed problems with bats - I think you may have an issue with gloves!
Are you sweaty?

The 2 sets of Remfrys amused me 😂 true CBF status achieved there 👍

-
The 2 sets of Remfrys amused me 😂 true CBF status achieved there 👍
In fairness, I got an inner and outer set for $50 (yes, for both) and the other outer one for $40. Couldn't pass those up haha
Yes, I do I a glove issue too haha. I have accumulated those since 2012 and yes I sweat alot.
This year is the first year in a looonnng time that I haven't actually wanted anything cricket related and haven't perused eBay/gumtree/Facebook for gear on a daily basis.
Thing I like the most is the coffin as it cost an arm and a leg to ship over here, but it's cool and unique over here in Australia.
-
Go on then, here you go.
Match kit: big GN duffle, Bradbury softs, smelly old Aeros, Asics to be spiked up, ti Masuri and a set of spare blank batting gloves, more for pre match nets than any chance of me swapping them during an innings! These bats will all get a go but then I tend to settle on a favourite for league games.
Net kit, keep it in a smaller duffle so I can just grab it rather than faff unpacking matchday bits: smelly Puma softs, old ti Masuri, Ton thigh pad combo that may replace the Aeros if I get on with them. Bats aren't particularly net bats but these are just the two I use most at nets, particularly the blank which is great but a bit aged for match use.
And lastly spare bats, a couple that may see some t20 use if I play many, 99p eBay buy and a Spyder that's too light.

Are you still in England @langer17
-
@edge that Laver and Wood Is a beauty and it certainly does fly off it when you connect! (which you have done plently of times when I have netted with you) @edge is a very good player (Moddest with it too :-) )
-
@edge nice looking bats, what shape are the laver and GN?
-
@edge that Laver and Wood Is a beauty and it certainly does fly off it when you connect! (which you have done plently of times when I have netted with you) @edge is a very good player (Moddest with it too :-) )
Ha you're far too kind mate! I certainly hope the Laver goes as well outside as it does off the bowling machine, quite looking forward to using it in anger!
@Chalkie thanks bud, it's a GN Nemesis with some of the more offensive stickers removed and the Laver is a TR Original, the old Millichamp/Scat shape effectively I think.
-
@edge i am quite jealous of your kit. Laver looks good and want the softs.
-
That Alfred butterfly looks great @edge
-
That Alfred butterfly looks great @edge
Tis a properly lovely bat, possibly my favourite forum buy in fact
-
Having seen all of these photos, i can't help but feel a bit inadequate :(
The only thing i have more than one of is a box! I currently don't have a bat as it's still being made up :D
My Uni nets are usually attended with people bowling £2 Slazenger rocks at my toes, maybe this means i should also be on the lookout for a cheap net bat ;)
-
Or a set of balls to hand out instead
-
Are you still in England @langer17
@19reading87 Nah. I left after 2 months as I got labrythitis (easily the worst thing I've ever had, which says something seeing as I am a Type I diabetic) which had me house bound for 7 weeks and no one would give me antibiotics as they said "I just had to wait it out as it is rarely bacterial". Came back to Aus and got the Antibiotics and a few days later I was back to normal. Fiance's work didn't work out either so we both came back.
It was still a good learning experience, but my 5 year visa seems a bit excessive now haha.
-

Considering being an adidas FKW this season. Even got some adidas white stickers for my bats
Will whittle this down, so keep your eyes peeled

@simonmay5 that atomic looks fantastic, not sure how SK is making bats this big at such a light weight. Anyone checked the moisture levels? Awesome looking sticks tho bud

3 fantastic bats, love the xxx11 shape personally
-
Are the handles nice and oval on the chrome Dorset I fancy picking one up cheap on eBay before the season.
Like the shape and whilst no one in their right mind would buy any bat just because the stickers are fab.....I might just do so!
-
OMG @ppccopener - I’ve got a strange compulsion to try a Chrome, I love the shape too!
Let’s buy one together and share custody 😁
-
Il look forward to seeing the Kit in action this season @DorsetDan - I like the Uzi softs - I was up there today for my brother who is returning to action after 8 years out the guys at @Uzi Sports sorted him out :-)
No news on nets as yet dan but il let you know when they start
-

I was down at Morrant on Saturday..The Chrome was the only bat which felt real good and well blanaced among he GM lot. I think they are the only ones who make bats with thick handles anymore. All the other bats had very thin handles. The handles on some of the GN bats were ridiculously thin!
Sorry to go off-topic.

Yeah that's right GM changed a couple of years ago to thicker handles. My gray nicolls has a very thin semi oval.
-
Thinner handles presumably used to keep weight down of the bat and add it to the willow part of it.

Also would it be done for balance?
-
Also would it be done for balance?
IMO , a thinner handles makes the balance worse as the bat is surely more bottom heavy?
I think the chunky semi-oval GM handles were fantastic!
-
Correct think of a bat as a seesaw and by making the handle lighter the balance is thrown off hence why players add a counter balance to the end of the handle to improve its pick-up.
-

Yeah that is what I was meaning my GMs one is 2.9 and one 2.11 got much better pick up than 2.9 GN. My de kock player addition seems to have an extra thick handle must be something he requests.
-
I definitely prefer thicker handles - my Hunts has a decent one too.

Yep, De Kock player edition GM has a thicker handle than the Chrome LEs. I believe that thicker handles are better suited to bottom handed players, while the GN Aussie handles almost always twist in the hand if you're using more bottom hand(at least in my case) even with 2 grips.

Can confirm after my visit to Kookaburra yesterday that the Kahuna Pros this year are absolutely gun and ping. Tapped up five weighing 2' 9 they were all phenomenal. Saw a few Blaze Pros too, they were also very good but the Kahuna was the stand out

Like many fellow forumers I’ve had to wait for the wife to be out to post my kit. Otherwise even more of it would have to go on Ebay.
I’ve got a soft spot for Indian made bats hence the MRF & BAS
After trying loads of pads, unbranded OLS are great quality and don’t trouble my FKW OCD
Gloves L-R Woodstock, Phantom & RS - I like plain as possible.
Like GN shoes their 10.5 is perfect fit for me (spikes to field & pimples to bat)
Lid Albion C&D - I’m old and like it.
Bag superb from this very forum

First of all, brilliant set of kit all-round! Those Insignia look fantastic. I too am a stickler for plain, white softs. I currently use Newbery SPS gloves and am looking around for a second pair. Many friends have recommended Woodstock softs (and bats) to me and are winning me over vs Phantom etc - which model are your Woodstocks and how do you find them?

Woodstock Platinum - from memory Ebay (saved search Woodstock Cricket)

Does a pro reject bat make it into a standard bat? Otherwise, companies like kookaburra where their sponsored players go through their mountains of bats to pick what they like, have millions of bats like this. Sorry if this sounds negative but the 'this was used by.....' and 'this was rejected by....'. Is a load of crap to me.
Vitas cricket said it right. The pros have the same choice as a good retailer.

It does not sound negative at all. I am not a fan myself of "Pro used" & "Pro reject" bat nonsense. This was found by a friend on his trip to SS factory and brought back to US for me along with 6 more bats for other friends. With the likes of Stu made GN 50+, XP80s & Signature in my collection i really want see the difference of SS bat made for their sponsored International players.

Yes a big difference in ping & sound compared to an off the shelf SS maximus but still a bit less than the GN50+.
GN50+ is also very big in size compared to this (51mm edge, 75mm spine & 2-15 weight).

No ton stamping on the edges roughed up toe, it is a different bat that what you will find at retail, I’ve seen both top of the line SS bats from a retail and genuine pro reject bat, there is a noticeable difference especially with SS bats, other brands probably do it differently. nice collection @jd163 I’m sure plenty of people would love to have your collection

Got 2 KW that would be net bats too for rough use not in photos though.

I need to get my gear sorted and get some pics up, too many decisions on which bat to use! Got a lovely @Blank Bats hulk that I can’t stop picking up! Softs will be same as last year for the first time, the @Ayrtek Cricket kit served me well last year

Mine has finally made it into my house. Will get a couple of snaps when I get a spare 5 as on little man duty this morning as rain has halted Office build outdoors.

I think the duffle is Champ made, but honestly have no idea.
I saw a Duck & Run one that was identical the other day, and Grade One cricket sell one the same.
And yes, the gloves have pittards. A full review can be found here:

honestly...they only just arrived today! they are atleast 5-6 months away from being released in Australia. when i saw the IJC review on them i decided i had to have them...
but i like them! i prefer my gloves to be relatively tight around the wrist and the neoprene certainly allows for that...
only complaint is the T20 pro pads have rubbed and lost color in a couple spots after only one net session...kooka uk deem it to be acceptable given stance/gloves rubbing on them but i cant say ive ever seen the same on the various other navy generic pads players have around my club...

I’ve also just got a pair so will be trying them tonight, I’m uncided on the neoprene without trying but certainly intrigued into how it’ll feel!

I've tried the 2018 Blaze Pro and Kahuna Pro gloves and the wristband feels fantastic, can hardly tell there is anything there tbh. I went with a couple of pairs of the Kahuna's as they were perfect. All the wristbands are pretty much the same so I think anyone will enjoy the Kookaburra gloves from 2018 as they are high quality as ever

after one ten minute net i have to say the gloves are great, like the fit of the neoprene nice and snug but feel really light too, will need some time to flex a little although that might be down to I've not had sausage gloves for years and just need to get used to them

Here goes, heres my training kit plus all the bats I could find (because everyone loves bats)
Bats from left to right:
CA Plus 1200 (I think) circa 2010 - 2lb 10 its a friends who moved away and left all his kit so I claimed that to try and bring life back into it use it on damper nights at training or when there are horrible balls being used
SS Gladiator - 2lb 9 bought off eBay but didn't like the stickers so removed them and had some NB copies put on but I don't like them now :D
Gray Nics - 2lb 9
GM Mana 808 - 2lb 10
GM chrome 808 - 2lb 10 Both GMs are as good as brand new bought in Allrounders sale last year used the Mana briefly.
Pads - (SS Test opener another impulse buy off eBay not the biggest fan of them though)
Gloves - Online Stockist
Thigh - Helygen (I'd never heard of them till they followed me on twitter and were advertising a sale)
Helmet - good old masuri
*I'll use my camera instead of phone for pictures next time

Winter nets with Ansty starting on Sunday, so getting my kit ready. Can't wait to get started after a difficult winter personally, though I've trained with Sussex University side over the last term and been asked to take a sickie each Wednesday that we have a fixture.
Kit for this season as follows:
Bats left to right- Kookaburra Impulse 950 from 2014, 2lb7oz. Taped back together for winter nets. Hunts County from their eBay run of 'pro grade' bats, 2lb8oz. Used in a couple of nets, ridiculous ping and grains. GN F18, previous owner bought from IJC going by the sticker, haven't used yet but another 2lb7oz. B3 shape 19 3 stripe, still the best bat I've ever used but may not last the season.

I also have my GM Flare 2lb9oz somewhere, and a Kookaburra Xenon 950 in need of a new handle that I picked up on eBay for £30ish last season.
I am having cravings for another B3 once mine gives up, a GN Atomic and there is a GN Prestige on eBay at present that I am tempted by.
Softs: GN Prestige pads and gloves from 2017, Pro Players thigh pads.

The bit where I said the B3 may not last the season... It has gone big time in my second winter net with Ansty. Now to wait for student loan to arrive to get a replacement!
Used it in nets today, felt a bit off so switched for the bowling machine, got my mate to try it and he said there were big vibrations, had a look post session and it's cracked twice down one side of the splice, three down the other :(
-
I have some new kit on the way... I wonder what it could be? ;)
Some of you are seriously slacking with the pics, come on, get them up!
-
As with most have a few odds and ends on the way but this is what in my bag on match days for the moment (obviously only one pair of pads, format dependant)
Bats
BB Hulk, 2’9
H4L 2’10
Pass
White AKJ
Blue GN Legenda
Green Kook Kahuna’s
Gloves
Newbery SPS
Cicada
NB 4020 Astros
Old school Kallis Adidas spikes
Stretton thigh guard
GN preditor bag
Masuri Ti
Also left the most important bit of kit out of shot.
-
Hunts is also now broken. Cracked down both shoulders from the ears into the back of the bat. I'm not having much luck with kit atm!
-
I had a pair of those Adidas shoes. Loved them but didn’t quite fit me sold them on eBay. Favourite spikes by miles.
-
Right hopefully the pic loads up. I’ve tried to squeeze the gear into one pic. Safe to say my gear screams custom bat forum member!

Ahan, got it!
Do you always stick with GM or rotate?
Tend to rotate quiet a lot.. not healthy on the old wallet. First season with Gunn & Moore, always tended to go with boutique brands such as Woodstock etc. Thought i’d give the big boys a go this year. Best pads and gloves I’ve used... unsure about bats at the moment way resort to using my blankbat from last year, we’ll see though

Here are a few more pics of the blank bats t20. This will be my match bat for the season until I get a duck in the first game!! I’ve only used in one net so far was an eBay purchase for £100. Hoping it proves a bargain.

Unused kit from a Melbourne Renegades player I was told, no idea who.

Surely a new bag?
Unless they're a monster set of pads.

Hi guys my black atomic custom made by Stuart Kranzbuhler has arrived this was a custom order though @skip1973 at kingsgrove the bat is massive a true club very full with 30mm toe and 46mm edges 2.10 hope you enjoy the pictures
I'm curious to know which one you prefer Simon. The XXX, the Atomic Black or the Velocity (or anything else that's arrived in the meantime).
I'm more than happy to pick up sloppy seconds (or thirds for that matter).

Hi all,
Hope this works! First time trying to upload a picture as I'm new to the forum!
Still, after seeing this, I got all of my kit out before my latest net session
-
Mmmmmmmmmmm! I really like that BATAS stuff, especially the all white bits!
-
It’s great stuff, @FattusCattus - can’t recommend it enough.

I agree, though I'm supposed to say that!
But genuinely it is good kit... I'd still buy it at full price it I didn't get it on discount

Where do you play @tm66 ?
My club is Milstead in Kent... I've played 3 Surrey 2's games over the last 2 years.... Not that that will happen anymore... I enjoy a beer too much!

Cool. Nigel said he had a Batas pocket growing in Kent.

That be me! Managed to get 4 others of our 1st team using them... and had no complaints! Though I have more to do with Leslie than I do Nigel

A top team those too. Hope to see them up at my club once the season starts.

a quick update on my bats for the year after purchasing @Churchy1989 H4L butterfly and his own creation (now sporting pink neon stickers) and looking very nice - has an excellent pickup and wood where you need it. The H4L is an absolute gun having used it Sunday at nets.

Not as proffessionally laid out as others but finally sorted for 2018(minus ASICS gel advance spikes which I’m currently giving a clean)

If someone could tell me how to re size that/do it for me it would be grand ;)
-
@velvetsky01 hope it scores you many runs! Not bad for the price 🤗.
The handle is how i like them, i find it helps you play straight....but the odd slog to cow is also good
-
My Humble kit. Only thing missing are the boots and helmet.
Bats: RPC and RS, both carried over from last season and absolute monsters in performance.
Pads: Since i only play white ball cricket, GN Test or Elite something I got from GCCC last year. Fantastic pads.
Gloves: BAS, Blueroom & Shamrock
Thigh Pad: I traded my Aero P1s for B&S, i like the B&S much better. Has a hard outer shell and is very light but the level of protection is very good.
Sunglasses: Oakley Pryzm Flak Jacket
Shoes: NB
Helmet: TBD, haven't purchased one yet after I gave my Ayrtek to team mate last year.

Not quite a Keeley FKW there! Please do better 😂
Lovely stuff

The duffle was an from an early batch of gear they got made last year just to get some out there. There is a bag range coming soon but not this design...

So of these four, the second from left (Hunts) and far right (B3) are now firewood, Kooka is going well but unlikely to last and the GN turns out to pack a punch. Certainly been an interesting winter kit wise so far!

Match Gear on show as the season approaches. (still very wet!)
Important things first Bats... (Left to Right)
1. Slav V12 LE Retro (made by DF)
2lb 9.5oz. Lovely Stick subject to a little interest elsewhere on the forum.
2. Kook Pro- Unsure on Shape (Stickered as a Newbery Blitz).
2lb 8.4oz. Gift from a pro from when I worked as analyst. On its second handle but still very effective!
3. B3 Trott (Again stickered as a Newbery Blitz)
2lb 11.4oz Part of the famous half price deal. It's a slightly modified Trott as the handle has been reduced. Still an oval but not the size of a Trott handle. Was intended for Scott Elstone until he changed the shape he used. Again gets ball from A to B quickly!
4. Mongoose Cor3 Pro (Again stickered as a Newbery Blitz)
2lb 11.6. An eBay impulse buy (we've all been there). Lovely bat great wide sweetspot.
It's tough to pick out a number one!
Pads- Jos Buttler Verve Pro editions from Lorimers.
Gloves - 2x Newbery Kudos
Shoes some NB and Adidas SL22s

Missing 3 bats as they’re being refurbed, but this is my kit for this season. I don’t care for updating my softs as they just need a wipe and they’re fine.
-
First my three match bats, knocked in and used in nets or games. All 2’10 - 2’11. The Merlin is actually a TK made Blitz in disguise, something very special from Tai that was apparently too big for a county player to us with the new regs.
(https://s19.postimg.org/sdlg2ovw3/9_DC61_CEE-_A507-4_BA6-_B781-9_E439_D29_D61_E.jpg) (https://postimg.org/image/yraj5y0rz/)

Then my growing collection of ‘non-compliant’ big GNs, 3 bought since Christmas, from left to right:
▪️Kaboom players - 52mm edge, 75mm spine, 2’14.7
▪️Select Extreme - 47mm edge, 2’10 with toe guard. Rare to find these under 2’11, but Vinay found this one hiding in his store, he didn’t realise it was that light. Very decent looking for a G3
▪️Scoop 400 - 47mm, 2’9.8 (with scuff) from a forumite, arrived this week. Again decent looking G3
▪️Pro Performance- 49mm, 2’10.4 - 1 inch shorter overall.

Added the XP80 in the profile shot for comparison - 25mm edge, 81mm spine, 2’10.6

Not sure which one to knock in and use first - maybe the scoop?
For softs I have a lovely set of BBs I have been using for nets, and some new GN Predator 1000s so I can FKW if the urge takes me.
-
Great stuff @Chalkie
Was the Reserve yours from new? They are trampolines once played in, no?
-
Nice collection. I was impressed with the select extreme I saw in my local Tony Pryce. Had a thicker handle than most other GN's and was full and well priced.

Handle is thicker than the others and very impressive bat for G3. More expensive than the standard Select but worth it

Great collection @Chalkie
I hate to ask but did you move my old NV on in the end?
-
That scoop profile is lovely!!

I made the mistake of lending it to our Skip at a nets session as he lost a chunk off his match bat. At the end of the net he insisted he had to have it and I was feeling the need to buy a scoop so let him take it off my hands.
-
That scoop profile is lovely!!
I wasn’t sure on these when I first saw them, but now I have one I’m pleased I did. I have heard these are generally made to be compliant, so guess I got luck to get one so big and yet still fairly light.
-
Just sorting my kit out for the start of outdoor nets Thursday (If the rain stays away!) Big thank you to all the contributors to this page. Ill admit before i came across this forum I was the type of guy who bought kit based on how shiny the stickers were...
From left to right..
Kookaburra verve that the Somerset county ground had on sale last season
B3 DB3 1 stripe (My first CBF purchase)
Bellingham and Smith Virat Kohl copy (Match bat for the season)
Kookaburra 1250 (My old match bat from 2/3 years ago that i scored nearly a 1000 runs in a season with) Getting a refurb hopefully will be good enough for a net bat used to go like a train and with an awesome pick up!
Stretton Fox custom inner/outter set
Chase R11s (Match gloves) Very light breathable and comfy
B3 Sausage fingers Got these in the sale before Christmas wanted to try a pair of sausage fingers
Duck and run gloves- Alternate these with the Rlls depending how sweaty each pair is and how they feel on the day.
Shrey pro- Used to have a Masuri before they had to changed to fixed grills. Found the Shrey closer to that than the new style.
Carbon Box from @Ayrtek Cricket
Asics- Advance 6s
Really pleased with all the gear i have bought post joining this forum. Hears to plenty more quality purchases..

So my bat situation has changed again...
Hunts is on it's way for repair/replacement after the shoulder fell apart after 4/5 nets. If it can't be repaired, I will see if I can get one made in the old Kooka Ice profile.
I've refurbed the F18 as the random tape was annoying me. A couple of slight cracks under the stickers but all glued and looks great (will sort pictures).
Best of all, sold my old car for a lot more than expected, so am investing in a new stick. There is a Focus on eBay atm that im going to make an offer on, and I have sent an email to B3 about a new stick. Obvs pictures will be uploaded once all kit arrives/returns.

How do you find the small mens kook bat? I was looking at a GN Small Mens online, but not sure how it'd feel.

Hunts replacement arrived this week, used it last night. They've seen me right! Original stick had 16 straight grains, new one has as many if not more! B3 is in production, and pics will follow when it arrives. Pics of hunts will follow later today.

A warranty replacement or just a new Hunts stick?

Had a few changes so thought I would update. Heaviest from left to right.
I have an Affinity carbine out on loan, a lovely bat, otherwise this is me for the season.
May move on the Kookaburra as it doesn't really fit in. The H4L NV may go as it's currently in lovely condition.
The Salix is a fantastic bat and a real good buy.

Really pleased with the collection now - the latest Neon picks up beautifully - and of course the Keeley is exceptional the H4L dvl is an absolute gun and is currently my match bat until I get used to the others....

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and just wanted to share my growing bat collection.
http://imgur.com/gallery/nUcF7OG (http://imgur.com/gallery/nUcF7OG)
I started playing again 3 years ago, and the bats are in order that I bought them from left to right:
1. GN Matrix 700, 2-6
2. MRF Drive, 2-9
3. DSC Canadian Willow (stickered as NB TC1260), 2-11
4. GN Kaboom International, 2-10
5. GN Giant, 3-3
6. Cougar T20, 2-12
Hopefully I can refrain from buying anymore bats for a while, but I would love to get a GN Sabre and a old school Kahuna for nostalgia reasons, as these were my first bats I had when I was a kid.

@emac23 how's Canadian willow . How much did it cost and how's performance?

Would also be interested to know if thats the natural colour or just heavily oiled. Remember seeing some serbian willow from Hunts at a kit day that was all bottle white

The Canadian Willow goes pretty good actually. I bought mine from a shop in Melbourne, I won a voucher through a competition they were running, but I think they were about $250 to buy, but I've seen them in Facebook for about $100 (assuming you can still get them). Apparently they require a lot of oil, but after the first oiling it went pretty dark, but it is over half heartwood which makes it look even darker.
The performance of the bat is great though. The ping is sensational, which is what convinced me to get the bat in there first place. It's great if you love grains, as it has 21 grains. The only downside is that the longevity of the bat, after a few hits it developed a few cracks, but as if you could get them for $100, you wouldn't find a better performing bat. And if it only lasts a season, it justifies buying more bats.

Put a scuff sheet on, makes bats last years longer in my experience.

@HellomynameisJ what are the Icon gloves like? I have a pair of pads from them and I've been thinking about getting some matching gloves, and possibly one of their small mens bats in 2 lb 9 oz

I'll be honest, the signature X ones are a bit snug for a standard men's sized glove, and the quality wasn't amazing but I didn't only pay half price for them so I didn't even bother looking into getting them replaced, I also have a pair of the Signature gloves that I cant speak highly enough of for 2 seasons, and are now just a spare net pair. From personal experience I'd say spend a little bit extra and get the signature gloves, they were exceptional, and if you keep a keen eye out and are patient they seem to have a few massive sales every year with everything 40-50% off.

Did you buy these from the UK icon?
-
I don't have a photo, but I use a B3 bat that I bought last summer and is just starting to play nicely, some GN spikes that are at least 15 years old, a £8 pair of trainers from Decathlon that I wear on dry days, some GM pads and gloves that I bought in 2010. The pads are fine, but the gloves have holes in so I might think about replacing them in a few years. I have a helmet that dates from the 90s, but I only wear it in nets. I carry this all around in one of those kookaburra rucksacks after the cat pissed on my main cricket bag over the winter. It is completely useless and I have started carrying a separate bag with my whites in, which is actually quite useful because now I remember to bring them in the house after games, rather than leaving them in the car boot for a week.
-
Did you buy these from the UK icon?
No mate, Australian.
-
Bought a Slazenger and a Harrow B3 to go alongside my Red Inker, after winning a fair bit of cash on the World Cup. The harrow is a TKC copy bat which weighs in at 2'5 and has pretty similar pick up which is good for a bottom heavy bat. Will see how it goes when i knock it in. Will get rid of the Slazenger as it's a little bit too heavy for me.
I also got myself some keeping gloves as i've been asked to don them a few times of late, and going forwards i see myself as a keeper bat! I initially bought a cheap black pair of gloves from Hunts County @ £20, however, when i opened them up before my game, the palms looked like they'd had something burnt into them (presumably the plastic inside them during the heatwave?) and had a small hole in them, so took them back. The guy in the shop gave me a pair of £40 gloves for no extra charge, excellent service
After 2 or so metres of scuff sheet for my bats, if anyone could point me in the right direction i'd be grateful!

New bat added to the bag after a nice box was delivered this morning. Inside was a grainaliacious b3 which I have instantly fallen for...... see pics
My match bat the b3 pro in the pic is an absolute rocket and will take some beating. The keeley pro is a special bat and am looking forward to having a go with that but I don’t tend to rotate my bats if they are going well and I am scoring runs plus the flat six I hit through cover last week with the b3 was a real eye opener. I now have this little beauty to fight out with the TK as back up

Wow, built like a tank ... made out of polystyrene. Incredible looking bat for the weight, what's the response like?

Whats the difference between LE, Pro and Crown?
-
Whats the difference between LE, Pro and Crown?
good question, basically when i got streaky to do my pro i asked for the lightest possible willow regardless of looks and he basically said this was the lightest of clefts but not aesthetically quite good enough to be graded as a crown. i think it has a small pin knot somewhere. i would be interested for this to be confirmed though. I suspect the density of this LE isn't quite as light as my pro. although it is massive my pro bat is a lot thicker all over with a thick toe and shoulders with minimal concaving.
-
Gave my 2 bats a clean up and some tlc ready for the weekend. Been going ok but I’ve not really been required to use them much, our #4 has taken a liking to the white stickered one and scored his first ton for our club with it the other week.

very decent bat that white stickered one - i miss her :(

So do I as I have to use the other one when I go in normally...have picked myself out something tasty to knock in for next year though 👀

For the winter I am getting a package from Ace Cricket, saves me having to ship kit out there. They've got a new range of gloves out that I'm keen on, what do you all think of these?
https://acecricket.com.au/vice-gloves-18-19/
Unfortunately one of my two new sticks this season has broken and is on its way to the manufacturer for repair or replacement, customer service fantastic as always from them.
Bought myself a Newbury Quantum LE, 2lb10 SSH on ebay as an experiment, great looking on the playing area but a knot up by where the stickers go. Will add pics when I take them.
-
Those gloves remind me of shell suits from the 90’s.

Christ, they're something else haha - you better be a gun bat if you're planning on going out to the middle in them!!

I like them!!

Their sponsored Pro in the wbbl is using them in the tourney. I'm thinking a pair for t20s maybe, but get 3 pairs of their normal ones in my ambassador package
