Thought I'd get in there like a rat up a drain pipe and see what new gear is being released for next season.
Couple of posts about GN's bats but anything else?
-
there is the effrontery to the eyes from puma (that kia ora bat that bedwetter has been using)...
-
Follow Mongoose on Twitter for our gear updates ;)
-
Done that Tom, just don't go on twitter much lol
-
Heres the new Mongoose stickers:
Saw em on their twitter page
-
I have seen the 2011 mongoose sorts and they are pretty nice.
-
*softs
-
Hoping to have the final version of our soft goods shortly...will bang some pictures up once they arrive! :D

New nitro gloves? They are horrid
I was considering holding out for some nitro pads and gloves, really glad I didn't now!

or old ones with extra protection?
GN are pants anyway.
-
Those are the current Australia gloves

Which 'ex-England legend' is this for Tom? :)
-
Who uses GM and is ex-England?
-
Who uses GM and is ex-England?
Tres?
-
Was thinking him but doubt he is going to Champions League
-
This bat is unrelated to the Champs League player.
-
harmison?
-
samit patel
demi mascranas (sp??!!)
-
Paul Nixon?
-
Michael Vaughan ?
-
No pink bat for Strauss
-
i wouldnt classify any of the players just mentioned as ex-england legends!!!!! Vaughan maybe but Samit patel!!! ???
-
i wouldnt classify any of the players just mentioned as ex-england legends!!!!! Vaughan maybe but Samit patel!!! ???
Samit Patel is, in fact, a legend. This is a man who decided that eating curry was more important than playing for England and getting loads of money. He sits alongside Jimmy (at least I'm the best player in my family) Ormond who also got dropped for being to fat and prefering food (or beer) to cash and glory.
Just because Michael Vaughan was England captian, the best player in the world, glorious redeemer of the Ashes in 2005, doesn't make him any more of a legend than Samit Patel.
oh. I see your point.
-
lol good argument in defence of all rotund men out there...Ian Austin springs to mind!!!
-
Ian Austin - he was a player "With a waistline somewhere between Billy Bunter and Friar Tuck, Austin was an unlikely sporting figure. His approach to the wicket wasn't exactly threatening either - he trundled in with short, rhythmic strides - but he was accurate and could move the ball off the seam"
I always thought it was a shame he wasn't part of Adam Hollioake's squad of legends which (dubiously) lifted the Akai Singer Champions Trophy in Sharjah... Dougie Brown, Matthew Flemming, Ali Brown, Mark Ealham, Nick Knight, Graham Thorpe, Graham Hick, Alec Stewart, Dean Headley, Berty Croft... our finest one day team... erhem.
-
id like to think i modelled myself on him ;) figure wise.... with pie in hand rather than the ball !
-
Arjuna Ranatunga was another who looked like he didn't miss too many meals...or Merv Hughes, John Morris, David Boon, Tubby Taylor etc...
-
Imzamam was a unit! As is cosgrove, leverock and matt walker looks like a burger would go down well!
-
leverock...what a catch in the world cup that time..bet he thought it was a burger flying past him then!!!! got down well for a fat-lad as is often heard on a saturday
-
:L yeah and the lap of honour to celbrate him catching it was also hilarious!
-
going back on the previous convo, of who the pro is, could it be ramps?
-
lol, I met dwayne leverock in bermuda on holiday in a steak house!!! lol, he's a really nice chap.
Anyway was my michael vaughan prediction right?
-
was going to say there arent any english teams in the champions league this year!
-
I know who it is.
And i think everyone should stop guessing wrong and just let mongoose (tom) get on with their work!
-
Alright Liam no need to get shirty, everyone knows its banger
-
Arjuna Ranatunga was another who looked like he didn't miss too many meals...or Merv Hughes, John Morris, David Boon, Tubby Taylor etc...
Jesse Ryder not been mentioned yet - Legend!!!
-
Michael Vaughan is a rubbish guess... he doesn't even play anymore
-
On the GN '11 gear, the pink bat strauss has been pictured with is the quantum I think.
-
Heres the new Mongoose stickers:
Saw em on their twitter page
cpu wont let me see this image for some reason :( really want to see the new look!
-
I can't see the pics either!
-
Try viewing on firefox works fine for me
-
http://twitpic.com/2hhjhs
I think that the one :)
-
arent those stickers the same as the last champions league ones?
-
Those aren't the 2011 standard stickers. I think they are champs league only.
-
3 colours (1 for each grade) for 2011, the stickers above are 2011 Super Premium.
CoR3 stickers are completely new. MMi3 are similar to the IPL ones with a few tweaks such as spot varnishing and a slightly smaller front sticker.
-
Absolutely loving these stickers
-
Anyone know what GM will be offering bats wise? I broke my Purist II and would like to get another GM, funds will be deciding though.
-
Are newbery going Electric Blue??
-
Grizzly blue gear I think.
-
You're right, new Newbery labels won't stand out, but because of that they will.
-
As already seen on the forum, Kieswetter's kit.
I like the gloves and the bat is growing on me.
-
interesting the puma pad logos have been covered up on this image...from the colour i can see they are the old evolution range.
must be some new pads coming in that haven't been signed off yet.
-
He's had them taped up for most of the season, perhaps in hope of getting into the Test side and needing to use them?
-
Grizzly blue gear I think.
Played against Paul a few weeks back and can confirm it is Newberry Grizzly Blue Gear
(got him out aswell) but thats a separate issue!! lol :D
-
Strauss is using his new pink bat well in the ODI.
Mr 7ft tall bowler is getting dispatched
-
Think the pink GN is the quantum from what I can make out
-
(http://www.cricinfo.com/db/PICTURES/CMS/121500/121501.jpg)
Another six for Strauss
-
still looks horrid. the red and pink clash and the gloves are a disaster.
But then I am a traditionalist - and the gloves are modern. I think the likes of Puma have done a much better job.
-
Don't know about anyone else but the new Quantum reminds me of a pink Powerbow ???
-
i'll be going along to see all the new gear from kookaburra, grays, readers, slazenger, puma, GM next week, should be a good crack.
agree about the pink and red, guess will judge how it looks in the flesh.
-
There will be a number of forum members at Lords next week to see the new kit.
-
Puma are the leading big brand for design work, it is all working very well for me, GN are still stuck in the era of splash random colours and shapes on everything, it doesn't work and despite the finest pedigree in the field has shown itself to be playing catch up in most areas.
I think AOC will be going to Twickenham by the sound of it.
-
AOC at lords as well I hear
-
yes to both for AOC.
be good to meet some of you blokes there...AOC will buy you a coffee if you're lucky.
-
I know Willostix will be at Lords
-
Lord's is mainly full of the smaller brands, GN are the only big gun there.
Super6 is at Twickenham next Wed, which is all the big boys.
-
will be their first time...
usual suspects, M&H, Salix, Newbery, Hunts, BDM, Bradbury, AERO, Skins, ASICS....
maybe a match on the nursery pavilion too, so cuppa and one of their nice pies for lunch...
-
if you are referencing the Nursery ground at Lords - the Cross Arrows will, I think, be playing Paddington.
http://www.lords.org/fixtures/matches/nursery-ground-fixtures,1245,AR.html
-
jeez they play all the way until 9th october!
bet it's a bit chilly then....
-
We're planning a game on New Year's Eve at our club on the artificial :D
-
I like that idea, but surely not under floodlights?!would it be a charity thingy?
-
Nah just a bit of fun
-
Anyone got any info on the 2011 gear releases at lords, dates/times etc, wouldnt mind popping along
-
It's trade only, 2 weeks today.
-
best match of the season is tonight at moorgate station, meet at the east india arms 9pm.
anarchists vs capitalists, all kicks off at midnight....
see the link:
http://www.spacehijackers.org/html/projects/midnight7thtest/midnightcricket.html
-
It's trade only, 2 weeks today.
Bugger!
-
I wonder if they would turn away a smartly dressed gentleman in and egg and bacon tie... might be difficult ???
-
Some people got kicked out last year, but in an MCC tie it's unlikely you'll be turned away.
Super6 is easier for the general public to get into as they don't have personalised invites and a register.
-
iv not got an invite do u think i can talk my way in to lords??? im in the trade honest!!!
-
New ranges for everyone, Puma have done a traditional shape bat and all revamped stickers.
New GM Luna. With rather odd cut outs. All new GM stickers.
New Kookaburra Roque, Orange coloured.
New GN Legend, Quantum and Kaboom. Legend looks awesome, but will be £360 ish.
Slazenger haven't changed much, just added different cilours
-
Ahhh interesting! Teasing!
-
One of the County players was using the Legend.....looked like a beaut too!
-
What was the Super6 like Tom?
I'll be visiting tomorrow to find the goss!
-
Legend? as in the one they do at GCCC?
-
Oh yeh, GN have done a Skyer copy called 'Cloud Catcher' which will sell at £20.
-
(http://cache3.asset-cache.net/xc/103999727.jpg?v=1&c=NewsMaker&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF87892102A727B1636DE2E6ECFE917A2C7DC20D05BF72C7D865373ECABC10441D8EC0E5)
only pic of legend i can find - tis Matt Walker
-
When will the 2011 gear be on the market for sale?
-
Guessing the puma stickers are the same design an kieswetters but with different colours?
-
Correct, one bat is lime green and blue!
-
for umar akmal's make-up i suppose!!
-
No GN Oblivion?
-
Oblivion, Quantum and The Edge (which is a LH or RH bat!)
-
what colour is the GN Luna?
-
GM. Black and bronze.
-
sweet. cheers for all the inside info :D
-
Looking forward to more pictures! :D
-
LH or RH bat, interesting, could this just be the willow, or uneven edges?
-
Uneven edges would change the balance, no?
-
im picturing bigger outside egdes dependant upon if ur LH or RH as you would think having more meat on the outside edge would be where more shots hit than the inside edge...i know on the last 2/3 bats iv had its always the outer edge of the bat thats split ???
-
Depends on the player, I use the inside half more I would say.
Any name for this new GM bat?
-
Good players hit their inside edge more!
-
i never claimed to be a good player ;)
-
Good players hit their inside edge more!
I'm the one exception that proves every rule wrong :)
-
Tom, whats the low down on the softs? Any stand out stuff?
-
Kooka same as last year.
GM same as last year with a couple of diagonal stripes added to the wing.
Grays Legend range was v nice, rest was just average.
Puma had best softs.
-
my inside edge always seems to be marked on my bats :)
a guy at my club was claiming there must be something wrong with my technique, but thanks TOM you've cheered me right up lol
-
liking the purple mongoose gloves hayden's using are they new for 2011
-
perhaps i need one of these LH bats to use!!! I blame being a lefty who bats right handed :D (surely that's a valid excuse that's plausible ??? )
-
perhaps i need one of these LH bats to use!!! I blame being a lefty who bats right handed :D (surely that's a valid excuse that's plausible ??? )
that explains why i'm batting down at 10...
-
perhaps i need one of these LH bats to use!!! I blame being a lefty who bats right handed :D (surely that's a valid excuse that's plausible ??? )
Pagey's left handed - His set-up is soooo much better
-
perhaps i need one of these LH bats to use!!! I blame being a lefty who bats right handed :D (surely that's a valid excuse that's plausible ??? )
Sorry you can't use that as an excuse :( - it is supposed to help as your left hand is at the top controlling the bat... I also fall into the am left handed but bat right handed category... :o
-
Yeah all top hand no bottom hand!!! same as my golf!!!
-
Yeah all top hand no bottom hand!!! same as my golf!!!
Indeed, I hit a very nice drive into the trees on the right off the tee, which would be a 6 over extra cover...
-
Are these real, I hope not they're disgusting!!
-
Yes, they are.
-
I like GM, and IMO they've ruined the stickers. I hope the softs look good now.
-
Any new spikes out from Asics, adidas or Nike?
-
Where you get the picture from colesy?
The flare and apex have the same design with the apex keeping the stickers lower down on the back
-
(http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/5636/flare.jpg)
R.I.P GM :(
-
they look like the rubbish impala stickers
-
The stickers almost look like the dodgy fakes we see on ebay :(
-
The icon looks nice. Thats about it!
Softs please colesy!!! Please!
-
Lol can't see any pics of the softs
-
where these stickers from colesy
-
Imageshack
-
the gm ones look tacky!
maybe they will look better with proper images though
-
those stickers look horrid.
-
I wish they didn't change it :(
BRING BACK THE PURIST!!!
-
Those gm stickers will be the death of the company, they're absolutely shocking!
-
wow. outstanding work GM.
-
Icon is alright, luna is alright, other two are shockers, look like kids have just drawn them, so uninspiring and boring! Nevermind its not about the stickers ;) yeahhhh rightttt
-
they are horrible!!!
-
Disgusting.
-
who and what has designed those !!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :(
-
Rather glad i got my 2010 apex le at a good price than pay full whack for that uninspired garbage
-
Sending my icon back not this saturday, but the one after. Might have these stickers put on it for me :( i hope they have a few sets of the old ones left and put them again :( these are terrible im sorry to say.
chip :o
-
tom do you know about newbery or bradbury 2011 stuff?
also found a little pic of the new adidas bowling boots love very nice imo.
http://www.yorkshireccc.com/news/yorkshires-title-dream-ends-in-a-nightmare/506
(go on the like gallery bit at the side and ajmal shazad bowling)
-
Those GM bats are horrid.
-
im sure they will look better in the flesh. We all hated kook stickers this year until we actually saw them properly. besides, its not about the stickers - as long as GM continue producing beauts, i wont mind. [that much]
Softs should be interesting.
And GM have changed their logo - the G is no longer connected to the M!
-
Email: ianellis@grays-int.co.uk for the new GN catalogue.

-
I think Salix used to have a mdel of bat called EDGE.
And that's the part of the bat I use the most!! ;)
-

The Edge bat has an offset handle..... oooooooooooooo
-
Good spot like the look of the legend
-
Hey Guys,
Gray nicolls catalogue is saying
Legend:Embodies quality and performance at its absolute best with
each cricket bat made using the finest available willow.
Only hand selected clefts that represent the premium 1%
of willow available will be used in the hand crafting of every
Legend bat.
Legend provides you the with experience of playing in
the spirit of crickets greatest players and the opportunity
to create your own history
Oblivion:New for 2011. Gray-Nicolls has used it’s heritage and
knowledge of bat making to introduce the Oblivion. With
its mirrored cosmetics and distinctively large lower middle
profile, the Oblivion creates the perfect blend of tradition
and innovation. Ideally suited for front foot play all around
the ground.
Quantum:New for 2011. With power and performance a given in
today’s modern game, Gray-Nicolls has continued to
evolve and introduces Quantum. Distinctive cosmetics and
a square toe profile, Quantum will light up any ground with
its abundance of power.
Kaboom:New for 2011. The explosive nature of T20 and David
Warner is the reason Gray-Nicolls developed the
Kaboom™. The Kaboom™ boasts a dangerously large
profile, massive edges and signature square toe to
produce an abundance of power to clear any boundary
on any ground.
Edge:New for 2011. Following on from the successful T20 Dual bat,
Gray-Nicolls continues to innovate the bat making process to
keep pace with an ever changing game. The Edge’s handle is
offset to combat any sideways movement in the pitch and aid
the common batting fault of over balancing. Simple but hugely
effective without having to learn a new shot or take any
performance away from the blade.
Nitro, Powerbow and Evo are exactly the same as last year. softs have changed. new top nitros look terrible imo, test pads are available in powerbow or oblivion livery. Gloves look good but only slight changes. keeping gear is in my opinion like previous years ( meaning wont compete with the regulars kook and puma.) but does look okay.
chip :)
sorry colesy, didnt see that you had posted it already.
-
Was not me was colesy
-
What the hell is with that "edge" bat?!
-
I like the Edge bat, only thing that would possess me to possess a GN
-
What the hell is with that "edge" bat?!
i see what theyre trying to do, but dont see people buying into it. if you get what i mean.
-
if im playing next year its gn all the way !
-
I like the look of the Legend
-
The bat stickers look nice, and good to see some more innovation which will cause discussion on this forum! The pads are an improvement on this years, the gloves however are going backwards, which is a shame. The keeping equipment is below the likes of Puma, Kookaburra etc. Pictures of the bags?
-
Bags coming up, give me 2 minutes

Yuk! One of the factor which drew me closer to GM were it's stickers but these ones are pathetic!
Seriously RIP GM
-
Soft doesn't look great either. Lat years pads looked lot better than this years :(. Does 2011 GN gloves have pittard palm or still at regular calf?

-
Spoke to a chap at Newbery today. He said there will only be the TT added to the bats for next season. Softs will stay the same with the addition of some black and white themed Thruxton gear, new tech in the gloves apparently.
-
You are right, they are releasing the TT for next year......they are also releasing something else rather special which he didnt tell you about :D
-
Loving the Gray Nics stuff - much more versatile in terms of being able to mix and match ranges
-
Agree with you about the GN kit, and I'm looking forward to the TT from Newbery Next Year...
-
Can someone please forward me the Gray Nicolls 2011 catalogue. kaboom786@gmail.com thanks

-
I never saw your request. However, I have sent it to you.
Guys, I was wondering if anyone would like full GN Catalgue (scanned version sent by Gray Nicolls people).
-
sorry CD - I meant the 2nd time of asking in this thread - not to you. thanks mate
-
Kit launches for Newbery, Salix, Bradbury etc tomorrow.
And of course the 'Goose. You all have a new bright multicoloured array of softs to look forward to.
-
Good luck Tom, hope it goes well for you.
Any more extra gloves on top of the ones you showed me?
-
tom when do you think us forum folk will find details on newbery, salix etc.
-
Will they be on sale on the likes of cricket supplies/direct?
-
Whenever someone posts details up, I'm sure a few forum members will sneak into Lord's
-

is this that thing at lords?
-
is this that thing at lords?
Yes
-
Tom, Any mongoose small mens softs planned?
or youths?
-
Spoke to Andy from Willostix last night, he said i should be able to have some photos of their new gear after the show. I'll get them up on here as soon as i have them
-
Willostix had a load of different types of the Stick which were interesting.
Nothing too exciting going on really, Newbery only have the TT which is new.
-
Different types of The Stick, like different shapes, colours? Cut outs a la scoop?
-
A slightly bigger one, a classically stickered one etc
-
Maybe down there next year once our range has expanded a bit ;)
-
Tom - That new M&H was a bit interesting though!!
And agree with you that the willostix was cool - particularly the Big Stick Classic LE!
But the GN Legend which was a beauty!!! :D
-
Didn't see M&H, as I said earlier you should report on everyones gear! You'll have had more of a look and will be more impartial than oneself.
-
Ok - will do a little report on some of the gear....including new Geese! ;)
-
Great will be waiting for it pete.
Do tell us about Salix as well.
-
Spent a bit of time talking to Huw and Andrew too, and the Salix for 2011 are even nicer!
There are a few differences which I will tell you all about!
And those new stickers! WOOOOOFF!
-
Pete
When can we expect this wonderful review?
-
You are right, they are releasing the TT for next year......they are also releasing something else rather special which he didnt tell you about :D
They've only added the TT to their catalogue and price list. Will they do a mid season release?
-
I'm suprised to hear that they didnt showcase their new range. (besides the TT).....perhaps the idea was scrapped or a release later in the year like you say.
How was the show for Mongoose today?
-
New Nike shoes are awful, very orange. Salix bats very good, loved a particular vantage bat that will be on it's way to me plus good softs. Liked the newbery thruxton pad and gloves. Chase had nice bats and softs. Not a fan of boom boom, stand looked very quiet all the time I was there.
-
Yeh, was good. Good feedback on softs which was pleasing as I thought we we've tried a pretty unique range if colours in them. Positive about our new signings too.
Barry, didn't catch you there did I?
-
Ahhhh, the new signing.....i suppose everyone is probably aware of this now :D
Very good signing for you guys, though i'd imagine he didnt come cheap!
Look forward to seeing the softs in the flesh at some point, i know last year that the softs were limited in their availability - will these be pushed a little more this year?
-
Ohh was surprised to see Boom Boom's presence.
Wish Newbery had introduced Krakatoa pads and gloves and not Thruxton as I have Krakatoa :D
-
Last year were pretty much pro only. This season will be stocked widely, assuming retailers want them.
He came to us to try the MMi3 and for sponsorship so wasn't big big money, let's hope he wins something next year.
-
He will be pretty popular on this forum as there are so many supporters of that County! Very good signing!
-
My guess is Tresco is the new signing? He's left GM?
-
Who is the new signing?! :-[
-
It's up to Tom to tell you fellas
-
Do I get a free Mongoose if I'm right? ;)
-
He came to us to try the MMi3 and for sponsorship so wasn't big big money
I'm suprised to hear that (the bit about him not being big money) - obviously none of my business and he is a very good signing for the brand, made even better by the fact you picked him up cheaply.
-
I just hope he doesn't snap many of your bats over his knee in the nets
-
what was his impression of the mmi3,
can u imagine banger with mmi and zander with the tt.
carnage. . .. . . bowlers stay at home
-
I bet they still can't hit it as far as pollard ;)
-
Afridi being older than Pollard can easily hit longe six.
But I must also say that Pollard smashes the "small" bowlers. I mean have you ever seen him going wild in an international match against a good international team?
-
I must admit your spot on although he has been very entertaining to watch in the champions league
-
Yup he definitely is entertaining to watch. I remember llast year when he played for T&T he played very good but I have never seen him performing at international stage. I believe he doesn't play for his nation he just plays for money after seeing his behavior recently
-
Tom no we never met, did look for you but did not see on the stand when I had a look. Like the new stickers
-
Afridi being older than Pollard can easily hit longe six.
But I must also say that Pollard smashes the "small" bowlers. I mean have you ever seen him going wild in an international match against a good international team?
Pollard is a very useful player to have in your T20 side, although i do not rate him in any longer forms.
-
A slightly bigger one, a classically stickered one etc
I saw them all when i went down to get my bat refurbed, the classically stickered one looks really nice (although it isnt stickered as such). just emailed Andy to see if i can get some pics up here to show you
-
So trescothick has signed for Mongoose? Big loss for GM if true, in his book didnt he say he'd been with them since he was 13?
-
Any pics of the equipment at Lord's?
-
Only a couple - but just loading them.
-
Thank you Señor Hosk
-
I have seen drawing of the mongoose gloves that tom sent me. They were plain white ish. With a very colourful strip across the knuckles like the Ice 850.
Can't wait for pete to upload pictures!
-
Start with the most important pics.......Lords itself! I was lucky enough to be able to stand on the actual grass and chat to the groundsman for 15 minutes! :D
(http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/ii471/petehosk/Lords/Lords1.jpg)

-
Mongoose - Nice new labels and colours.
Only snapped a couple of pics, as only had my iphone!!
But alas, I didn't get pics of the gloves. And the top of the range gloves I tried on were so light!!! They felt as though you were barely wearing any...pittard palms as soft as a clouds on a Spring day!

-
the different mongoose colours are different grades are they not ?
-
They are!
-
The Purple ones are Grade 1 (Super Premium) RRP£325
The pink ones are grade 2 (Premium) RRP£225
The orange ones are grade 3 (Series) RRP£150
-
The batting gloves are RRP £30 for the Series, RRP of £45 for the Premium, but if you can afford the RRP of £65 for the Super Premium I was take those!
These Super Premium gloves are probably the lightest and possibly the most comfy gloves I've ever tried on. If you get the chance, try some on! 8)
Batting pads are £35, £65 and £95 (RRP) for the 3 grades.
And some of the bags look decent too! So all in all, some decent gear displayed.
-
did the pads seem light ??, dont think i could ever stump up £160 for pads and gloves no matter how good they were , especially with ayrtek doing their packages
-
The RRP of these, and the actual prices that some Internet stores sell them for is normally different!
The pads seemed light, but didn't seem as light as my Morrant Ultralite Internationals, but it's hard to tell! They seem decent enough. The reason I mentioned the gloves though was because they felt gorgeous and were as light as a feather!
-
Since there are no pictures what style (traditional, split etc) are the gloves?
-
Mongoose stuff looks nice...
Pete-Any new stuff from Asics, Nike or Adidas shoes wise? Or will they be at the Twickenham show.
-
Apparently new Nike's are 'very orange'
-
this could be a huuugely controversial question,but...
Who makes Mongoose bats? :-[
-
I think I know. But not 100% sure.
-
Any Mongoose questions, I'm sure Tom will answer.
Nike shoes are white and orange...they got well and truely tangoed!!!!!!
There are some great new Asics..lighter, more supportive and as classy as ever.
Gray Nicolls have some very decent cricket shoes too - watch out for them!
-
Are the Nike spikes orange with a white swoosh? That would be hideous!
-
pete, what would you say the 'best' bag you saw yesterday was?
-
M&H haven't changed their bags that I noticed, but they are nice though.
Other brands looked ok, but didn't look in too much detail, as there were other things to look at! :D
But the guy at GN took me through their new gear, and they had a lovely duffle!
But if I had of chosen one, it probably would have been the Salix bags! they make classy gear!
-
Will be getting a Salix for next year then :D
-
Salix bags are very nice, the only problem is other bags do the same/similar job for less money.
-
Salix do charge a fair wad for their gear!!
It's a personnal choice, as Newbery and other brands looked to have decent bags too!!
-
I've always liked the GN bags.
Pete which GN bag would you recommend from what you saw?
-

Which duffle was it Pete, the PP stand up type or the standard?
Have Salix brought out a duffle?
-
Does anyone have any pics of the Salix 2011 stuff?
-
this could be a huuugely controversial question,but...
Who makes Mongoose bats? :-[
Snr G1 and G2 made in UK. Hunts do a few, majority are made by someone else.
Jnr and G3 in India
Can't say anymore than that, can't say who the player is yet either.
Gloves are split style, multicoloured red, pink and purple on every glove.
Pads are modern Super Premium pads is what Hayden wore in the IPL with the lower 2 ranges based on that.
-
so if i bought the Super Premium wherfe would that be made?
-
Uk.
-
Ahh ok good good :) , can you post pictures of the softs on here or in a new topic please Tom, on behalf of everyone i think :)
-
is there any changes or new items from Aero?
-
Ahh ok good good :) , can you post pictures of the softs on here or in a new topic please Tom, on behalf of everyone i think :)
I'd love to see these new softs
-
yeah i asked in the aero section about strippers, dunno whether to buy this years or wait til next years!
-
yeah i asked in the aero section about strippers, dunno whether to buy this years or wait til next years!
same problem here mate
-
Aero have new P3 Jnr pads, arm guards, keeping gloves and inners and a lie down bag
-
So the strippers remain the same?
I'd love to see these new softs
-
Correct.
-
Tom, can we have pictures of le Mongoose gloves pads and bags etc :) Thanks
-
I will upload the drawings tom sent me, if thats ok with him
-
And the only other pics I took were of the great Vantage gear with their sparkly new stickers!

-
Not sure on the yellow or pink, But the black and white looks very nice!!
-
The black and blue ones are lush!
-
still not sure about the new vantage stickers compared to their old ones (which i loved) , better than the graphic on their website tho :)
-
I'm a fan of those stickers!!
-
Tom said no to me uploading them, but I have acquired pictures of the actual gloves. They will be up in 10 mins or so.
-
I wasn't overly keen on them colours, although they didn't look too bad.
But they were just so light and comfy, that I loved them.
-
(http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc207/liam_sccc/2010/IMG00112-20100924-1725.jpg)
-
They go in order, top to bottom
Top of the range
middle range
bottom of the range
-
hmmm not as nice as this years (2010), middle ones are nicest imo
-
hmmm not as nice as this years (2010), middle ones are nicest imo
agreed, those bottom ones are a bit trippy
-
I think the middle ones are nicest as well, all of them would clash horribly with my gear but they fit in well with the mongoose bats.
-
I must admit that the middle ones are more subtle and nicer than the others....but they do not feel as nice on as the top gloves.
-
Last years ones were lush though!!
-
They were very comfy as well. I tried them on at the taunton trade show. I shall do the same this year no doubt!
-
i love the mongoose gear !!!!
-
Yea Ryan it's pretty sick tbf :)
-
Any pads picks?
-
nope, i believe you will have to be patient!
-
I'll post all new equipment up as soon as photographed professionally after the trade shows
-
Top stuff Tom.
I think you said they were similar to last years, but my BBM chat history deleted when i updated the software.
-
I think I may do a Hosky's Top 5 Faves from the Lords Trade Show
-
Do it! and next year, take a proper camera. And a rug or cricket jumper of some sort to show case the gear!
-
Ok - Hosky's Top 5 from the Lords Trade Show.......
Number 5: Millichamp & Hall
These are my number 5 from the show, due to their very nice softs, bags and other gear.
But also their classy bats. But the main reason for M&H being in my top 5 list is their new model of bat they added!
It is top of the range bat called the AMPLUS. It is a very nice bat too - The RRP will be around £380 which means it's the most expensive stick! But the bats that were there weighed around 2'9 and had edges of around 40mm (or thereabouts) and a great pickup! This was based on the bats they have made for Pros (restickered as other brands of course!) and they even had some counter balance weight at the top of the handle! I must admit it was a beauty!!
This would have been higher up my list but there was no update on their softs, and that was the only new model!
-
Will it find a way into your collection?
-
Had they changed the stickers at all?
-
Number 4 - Mongoose
Some real effort with their updates here!
The bat labels looked decent and nice that it's easier the tell the grades apart with specific colours!
Evidently, the colours were cleverly produced to tie in with popularity in the next 2-3 years. So clever thinking and planning for the future!
The grade 1 and 2 bat colours looked great. Decent softs too made it a well thought out display!
But the two things that made this number 4 for me were the top line gloves being superb quality and feel!
And the second thing is the exciting signing!
-

God I'm dying to see this bat.... That's on par with Scat money must be special
-
Can't wait to try on all the Mongoose gear at taunton.
-
Had they changed the stickers at all?
No change of stickers on the M&H. And may try one out eventually but not just yet.
The Amplus certainly looks and feels like a great bat...the size of a generous 2'14 but 5oz lighter!
-
Number 3 next - will be a surprise too!!
-
The amplus got the same sticker design as the s6, solution, original and harlequin then? what colour?
-
And the only other pics I took were of the great Vantage gear with their sparkly new stickers!

Amazing stuff frm vantage cricket.
-
Number 3 - Chase
Chase does not have a lot of exposure but it is at my number 3 due to 2 reasons! (Contraversal I know)
There are 2 new models of bat -
T20 model: the blade is an inch or so shorter with longer handle, and looks a decent bat. Would I use one above all other T20 bats...NO.
But the second bat is really very nice indeed! The BELUGA model is lovely profile, well balanced and feels great in the hands.
But it takes more than two new models of bats to make my number 3...I'm not that easy to please!
There is new technology under the scuff sheet which is like a glue/thin gel? Wasn't told too much about it but it offers alot more protection against cracking and damage! And also they are working on technology where the ball mark is shown on the scuff sheet for 2-3 seconds so that the batsman can look at where the ball hit on the bat immediately after the shot is played. I'm not sure how close they are to adding that but it sounded immenant!
They were talking about the scuff sheet too, but I can't remember the full details which made it different! :(
Anyway, the couple of different technological touches, plus the very nice Beluga model made this my number 3!
-
Number 2 - Gray Nicolls
They had the biggest stand and lots of new gear. They have ovbiously been busy boys this year with all the new helmets, shoes, bags, pads, bats, etc. But I need to pick out the specifics which put GN in at number 2!!
Four reasons I made made this number 2:
1 - Perfect duffle bag! Pro Performance Duffle Bag. Has padded shoulder straps and padded on the back to allow someone to be able to run or cycle with this on. But perfect shape, design and looks.
2 - Great lightweight trainers with support in the inside arch area which is great for me (as I over pronate!)
Nice design and great support with better prices than Asics! Will it tempt buyers away? Who knows, but nice anyway!
3 - Legend wicket keeper gloves! I would say the very best keeper gloves I have ever tried on! They are light, fit nicely, and soft and comfortable! They feel amazing and I would be surprised if people don't love them!
4 - Legend bat! It is soooo gorgeous! The stickers look stunning but simple. But the profile and quality of the bat is amazing. Big and meaty and yet picks up beautifullly! I could be tempted, although talk was of £350-400 RRP! :(
-
And Hosky's Number 1 next........
-
Salix?
-
What makes you think it won't be Newbery, Vantage, SS, Boom Boom, Asics, Aero, Dukes, etc!?
-
Instinct ;)
-
Pete was this day open to the general public or did you have to know the right people?
Also is there any more of these coming up
-
Number 1 - Salix
Well, I was surpised! The softs are always very good with Salix. The bags are excellent.
But the new bats.................... :D
There are 3 models: The Pod Knife, The Pod Black and the Pod White.
They have different levels of willow for each model - Performance (G1), Grade 1 (G1 better) and the Players (G1 Woof!)
The Pod Knife had slightly squarer shoulders and slightly diff profile - Forgot to take much notice as I was too busy admiring the other models!!
The Pod Black - Great all round profile with some concaving for lighter pickup.
The Pod White - smaller edges and less concaving. Tons of wood in the meat of the bat! Loved this bat!
And the Players bats were shaped beautifully! The edges were shaped to be a little more narrow at the back of the bat than at the front.
The bat stickers are new too! And I would say that the bat labels are the best I have ever seen on any bat!!
The make the old stickers look ordinary. The workmanship and quality of the bats was top notch!
-
canners - not open to joe public. It was a trade show fella.
-
And lastly a special mention to Vantage for having a very nice quality range, and Newbery for the same!
-
Pete what can I trade you to let me come with u next time :)
-
Well, I got my ticket from elsewhere.
But next year, you never know, I may just have an outlet myself!
-
Pete and Tom are real legends of the forum. Pete why have you stopped visiting cricket supplies forum?
-
when do you think we will be getting some photos of those salix's?
also did newbery have any new bats?
-
Will hopefully down there exhibiting next year ;)
-
tom, anything new for 2011 from ayrtek?
-
Pete and Tom are real legends of the forum. Pete why have you stopped visiting cricket supplies forum?
I just don't get time really.
I try to have a look every now and then.
-
when do you think we will be getting some photos of those salix's?
also did newbery have any new bats?
I don't have any pics of those lush Salix bats - but I assume the pics of new range will be through on the internet retail sites sometime soon?
And Newbery only had the TT bat. Most other bits were the same. They did have a new gel type material they are using in their Thruxton gloves to ensure the fingers are even better protected as the gel disperses any ball impact across the material, and will ensure the fingers don't take full impact! But that was the only thing they mentioned to me.
-
what do the thruxton softs look like?
any change with the salix softs?
-
i heard they were black and white themed :) the thruxtons i mean
-
Give me 5 mins and will post the pics of the pads and gloves.
-
cheers pete
looking forward to them
-
thanks pete
-
(http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/ii471/petehosk/Newbery/NewberyNew2011-1.jpg)
-
softs are very nice, any idea on prices for these Pete, and are the palms pittards, looks like it :)
-
Looks as though the Thruxton falls in between the GT and the top of the range SPS gloves and pads!
The RRP for the Thruxton will be £99.99 for the pads and £65 for the gloves. Obviously they will retail cheaper than that from Owzat and other internet retailers.
-
fair enough, would definitely never pay 100 for pads, reckon i would pay up to 80 for a premium pair, and 50 for gloves
-
I would imagine that the Thruxton pad and gloves would retail for that sort of price (£80/50) via the more reasonable internet sites! Never take too much notice of the RRP - it's merely the Suggested price!
-
indeed, whack em up, to cut them down :)
-
I can see by the price lists that Salix, Newbery, etc all have a price lists. These list the Trade prices - these are obviously prices they sell to the trade for.
And they also have the Suggested prices too! This way, most of the retailers will have a good idea how much they are expected to sell to the public for! But the true price retailers charge will be dependant on how many overheads they have - for example, an internet only retailer should be able to sell a little cheaper than a shop, as their costs should be less!
Plus some retailers buy in bulk and are offered more of a discount!
-
So in terms of comparison to say Salix, and other big(ish) brands, were these pads, cheap, middle or higher range price-wise?
-
Are you talking about the RRP of the Thruxton in particular?
-
well yes on the pads and gloves ;)
-
Not a fan of those thruxton softs, viewing them on my blackberry though. I will take a better look on my laptop in a bit.
-
Well - Salix are similar in price.
Both are top end product. The Salix Pod 1 pads and gloves (and Pod Black gloves) are RRP of around £100/£70 (£100 for pads and £70 for gloves.) The Newbery Thruxton (£100/£65) and SPS (£110/£70) are the same kind of excellent quality!
The Thruxton have now introduced the impact gel technology but unless you play on a very bouncy wicket where the opposition bowlers are serving up some 90mph+ balls, then who knows how much the gel will be needed.
Let's just say that if the top of the range Salix and Newbery softs are not good enough for you, then good luck! :(
I would say that quality wise there would be little or nothing to choose between them. So I would try them on to see if either fit you better that the other, and if they all fit you well then maybe choose whichever colour and style you prefer!
-
Impact gel technology eh......is this on the insdie or outside of the gloves?
-
Good advice the mighty Hosk :),
May well be heading down to Dummer Farm, so did the chase pads and gloves, bags etc look any good?
Plus what was this scuff sheet technology like ?
Thanks
Chris
-
Tommy my boy...the impact gel was by the fingers, as the impact caused by ball (which normally traps and fingers between bat and ball) is where the finger damage occurs! I did ask if they can then use less 'normal' padding to lighten the glove, but they said that they still use the same amount of padding.
-
Yes - the Chase gloves and pads looked decent enough. Was more interested in the Beluga bat so should have paid a little more attention!!
The gel can help 'self repair' any damage and sort of bong it together a little! Or this is how I understood it at least!
Not sure whether they incorporate it into the sheet, but I would assume they do.
-
lol i see trying to say they are using impact gel would add weight to the gloves as such as its not a light material...looked at this a while back when doing my dissertation etc so having put in a good years worth of work its obviously a point of interest. Ideally you would want it as the layer that lies next to your figners by which point the cheaper materials ontop would have dampened the impact anyway
By having advanced materials in the gloves it means you can scale back on the thickness of plastizote etc but people then become worried that they might not protect them if looking at a glove with only 1cm of "padding" present between them, the ball and the bat handle ???
-
Just a quick question Pete that are Salix soft changing for 2011 or they are the same?
-
i think ul find most companies change their softs on a yearly basis to ensure that whatever was pruchased in 2010 is now "outdated" so people have more incentive to purchase the new kit.
-
I am not sure if the impact gel was the same or if they had advanced the technology?
And I did ask them about the padding for that precise reason!! I would have expected the gel to be a 'replacement' for the normal padding, or at least so that they could make the gloves less bulky and lighter.....but obviously not! Maybe they just haven't performed enough impact testing with lesser amounts of padding yet?
-
So Pete, will the Beluga RRP at the same price as the other bats, and different grades?
I.e £300 RRP for FLC?
-
ill bring our ACIS gloves along when we meet up next and the bat mallet and u can see what u make of them ;)
looks a bit silly when whacking urself over the hand with a mallet but u can inflate them and hit urself and then deflate them and hit urself to physically feel the difference!
Either way looking at £65 for some gloves is pretty expensive!
-
Hi CD
Didnt really see any gloves and pads from Salix last year.
So I can't be 100% sure. But I am 99% sure there were updates in their softs.
I do rate their softs, and their bats look awesome with the updated profiles, models, and stickers for 2011.
I wonder if I could persuade Andrew to use the new stickers on any refurbs? It's worth sending my Praestantia and Fera in for a refurb if they would use the new stickers! 8)

On the laptop now, the pads look nice but not a fan of the gloves.
May change my opinion when i see them though.
-
gloves kind of look like the 2011 bulldogs ?
-
lol i see trying to say they are using impact gel would add weight to the gloves as such as its not a light material...looked at this a while back when doing my dissertation etc so having put in a good years worth of work its obviously a point of interest. Ideally you would want it as the layer that lies next to your figners by which point the cheaper materials ontop would have dampened the impact anyway
By having advanced materials in the gloves it means you can scale back on the thickness of plastizote etc but people then become worried that they might not protect them if looking at a glove with only 1cm of "padding" present between them, the ball and the bat handle ???
when i had GM Le gloves, they felt really unprotective. I didn't have confidence in them as the padding was quite thin
-
this is a common problem as people associate thickness of padding with protection!
-
The Beluga RRP obviously depends on size and willow.
For SH 167 model of Beluga, RRP is £185. And for the 175 model it's £250
And looks like there is a 10% surcharge is you want a bespoke service - workshop visit, watch it being made to your spec.
-
Yeh, because the FLC version of any bats is £300 and you can have those made to your specs, so models of bat doesn't really matter I don't think, so it's just the type of stickers really I think. What were the stickers like on the Beluga?
-
this is a common problem as people associate thickness of padding with protection!
This was on my left hand, normally it wouldn't be a problem but it felt just like padding. With no reinforcement. My puma gloves you can feel the hard stuff on top of the padding
-
anyone know when all the gear is released onto the web?
Really want to see the puma gear!!
-
yeah they will have plastic ontop of them to act as the first barrier of protection
-
Some of the best gloves that I've seen are the new Woodworms, they have genuine Pittards, plastozone ( i think ) plastic protection, very comfy, and good protection :)
-
can't go wrong with puma gloves really, light and protective. Also had Kook Rp's which were good but a bit weighty compared to pumas.
The Newbery I had were very nice too! Had sps 1's and grizzly blues.
-
and what you were saying Tom about the less padding sometimes better, is demonstrated by the fact that the 909 GM gloves are much bigger and bulkier, but all the pros use much smaller thinner gloves, just with better padding/density, or however else you explain it :)
-
pittards palm, yes, normal foams and protection apart from that.....£95...doubtful!....£35....more realistic for a brand that went under and others have repalced them
-
They are absolutely quality gloves. but not worth the £95 by any stretch of the imagination
£35 though is an absolute bargain :)
-
Thanks mate. I appreciate it.
I really like Salix gloves but the price tag pulls me back. Will try to look for bargain in 2010 model. I really don't mind using an "outdated" pair of gloves.
It would be great. Oh if I buy a Salix 2010 now in sale and then send it for restickering. Would that be possible?
-

Mind sharing the link for new Woodworm gloves? Would be interested in seeing them.
Thanks

Thanks Tom!
Good work by CA. Wonder why they don't use original Pittards in their own gloves (CA). I guess it would make them expensive and no one in Pakistan would be willing to pay that price.
-
My mate used them and they are brilliant, :)
-
What makes you think CA makes Woodworms gloves?
-
What makes you think CA makes Woodworms gloves?
I once emailed them and they said that CA makes Woodworm plus when you go on CA's website you will see Woodworm banner there as well.
I have spoken and read few retailers on this forum saying they have seen Woodworm at CA factory.
-
I believe they are both owned by the sports hq but made separately from each other?
i'm sure tom will set us straight
-
I believe they are both owned by the sports hq but made separately from each other?
that was my understanding too , would make sense for them to make them i suppose but it dosent mean they do .
-
no no no! CA is separate to Sports HQ. Sports HQ own Woodworm but have exclusivity rights for CA in europe. These are facts. The following are assumptions: Sports HQ got CA to make the Woodworm gear. CA in turn bought exclusivity rights for woodworm in pakistan and made their own versions. capiche?
-

Thats what i meant!
-
But isn't iBat series/range made by CA and used by Woodworm sponsored players as well.?
-
The first players i saw using the ibat woodworms, were CA bats with woodworm stickers.
-
Pete what were the Asics footwear like?
-
As always, excellent!
Light, supportive and well designed!
Shame I didn't get more pics!!
-
woodworm is owned by a guy in abu dhabi apparently,i play club with a guy who works there, and my old school coach, captain of bermuda dave hemp was sponsored by them so he was able to get cheap ca bats and cheap woodworm gear, which led me to believe that the sports hq was a banner for both the trading rights of woodworm and ca, not necessarily owning them ?
-

Just because they've seen Woodworm at the CA factory and because Woodworm is distributed in Pakistan by CA doesn't mean everything is made by them.
Woodworm gear has also been spotted in Indian factories too.
-
Too complicated case of Woodworm and CA. Have tried figuring it out for months now but no luck. I guess I give up :(
-
tbf, i have used my mates new woodworm bat and it flies, and as i mentioned the gloves are very good, but the pads now have d30 so theyve got to be fairly good as well :)
looks like theyre doing better now anyway :)
-

Sounds good. What colours? and how many ranges were there?
-
tbf, i have used my mates new woodworm bat and it flies, and as i mentioned the gloves are very good, but the pads now have d30 so theyve got to be fairly good as well :)

Don't think the pads have d30, as GM have exclusivity for it in the cricket market. There are some on the forum with it but they are just concept pads i think
-
yes those were the ones i was referring to :) , so if they can break gm exclusivity then they should have a great al round range
-
I think GM have a contract with d30, so any other cricket products with d30 is breaking it and therefore can't be allowed.
I am sure Tom will know more about this
-
ahh ok, because ayrtek Tom said that they were approached by d30 when they were originally trying to get d30 into the cricket market
-
yeah, that was way before GM i believe. But he said it was not cost effective. It was when he was designing the CCC softs.
-
yer, that rings bells :)
-
Woowdorm pads do have d3o I saw them somewhere
-
Did anyone see any new newbury softs at the trade show?is there a new sps range?
-
SPS is staying the samei think. The 'Thruxton' softs have been posted somewhere, they look awful imo!!
-
are they pictured?in that case, the sps1's camoflage for 30 squids look good!
-
Golders where from?
-
Ebay! Sps 2's look nice :)
-
Golders where from?
muddy check talismans ebay bargains thread
-
anyone got a news on kook stuff
-
Are Puma coming out with new softs?
-
opener i assume they are i think having seen the ones kieswetter's wearing, but im not 100% sure
-
Yep - look at the pros who are using Puma, and you'll see they are wearing 2011 colours - bats, gloves, etc.
Look at cricinfo and view some pics and you'll get a feel for style of 2011 kit.
-
Thanks Pete. Yes espocrespo, I was following the Keiswetter pictures on the forum and cricinfo. My question should have been were they at the trade fare and did you see anything interesting from them in terms of quality?
-
People who have used Puma softs rate them as one of the best and the price tag they carry does tell us that quality is certainly there.
-
Puma were not there, or at least I didn't notice them! ;)
-
I'm surprised if Puma weren't there as i spoke to Rob a while back and he said he was manic sorting out stuff for Puma regarding the new range etc etc although the Lords show wasn't specifically mentioned just the release and gathered part of that would be the Lords show.
-
Rob was there, but spying. Not selling.
Puma only do Twickenham and Harrogate.
-
Stealthily under the radar best way....saves having to work then lol
-
I believe pume have dropped the Evolution and released the Calibre? Can you confirm someone?
Is the calibre bright like the aussie one?
-
Everyone knows Rob anyway so he wasn't so stealthy!
-
Picked up the GM 2011 catalogue today from a local shop. Soft goods are pretty nice and bats are not as bad as people think they are. In my opinion the stickers have improved frm last year. D30 Original gloves have pittard leather and GM LE gloves are plain white.
-
scan em in?
please
-
Sorry dont have a scanner. I'll go to college or internet cafe tomorrow or wednesday to scan the catalogue. I can take pictures with my fone if you want to see now
-
that would be good thanks mate
-
NOW NOW NOW!!!! :D
-
chill out! he said the LE softs were plain white not bright blue!
-
GM are my fave. Need to see the stuff ;)
-
Puma is mine :D but swaying in the direction of grizzly bat and camo gear ...
-
Gloves are coming up 1st. Not the best quality pictures but still.....can just abt see them.

Hardly any difference to last years tbh!
-
there is in the le and d30 gloves
-
Cheers mate, slight adjustment to the gloves. If it ain't broke don't fix it :)
-
d30 gloves look worse
-
GM's gloves and and pads designs are pretty good anyway Paddy, can't blame them for adjusting the graphics on a winning formula to keep up with the new bat designs.
-
Personally I liked current years Original LE and D30 gloves better
-
same old, same old
-
Thanks alot Kaboom though.
-
still got some 909 d3o gloves they were ok ntohing special tho IMO
-
D30 pads look very basic and standard design compared to last yrs and teknik Lite.
-

Liking the Original and Original LE pads, not so much the d30 ones, too many variable widths of the canes and chevrons.
-

looks good!
-
Completely disagree. Thanks Kaboom though!
-
Thanks Kaboom, when is the Harrogate show?
-
I don't like the stickers on the bats tbh. The sifts look god though.
-
keeeping stuff ?
Good shout!
Can we have pics of the keeping stuff please Kaboom?
-
Gloves let them down looks wise as do the bat labels, great product no doubt but stale image. Pads are their only bright spot for me.
-
GM have freshened up their look- all products feature new clearer GM logo for improved visibility from the boundary. They are also introducing factory fit GM bat engraving personalization to make your bat unique to you.
This is what GM say about the New LUNA bat. LUNA DXM new for 2011 with our most advanced deployment yet of orbital CAD/CAM technology. Luna not only looks incredible, wait until you feel and play with its perimeter powered perfection.
-
Nothing new shape wise.
-

-
(http://i773.photobucket.com/albums/yy19/Kaboom786/keepinggearbags2.jpg)
-
Those stickers look a little like the really (No Swearing Please) fakes you see on the bay from time to time.
-
Uh-Oh, they have gone backwards in my opinion....

Guess that explains the Luna name.
-
Bags look nice. Cheers Kaboom for doing keeping stuff! It looks near enough the same as last years, as does everything else...
-
The gear is certainly different and somewhat refreshing. I like the modern touch-up on the classic pads but the black logos and stripes are a bit too much. Bats look much better than the earlier pictures.
-
I like the pads, nd the bag colours, if they have changed the GM bit it does look alright like that! but not much to say about the rest unfortunately
-
Kookaburra 2011
http://www.kookaburra.biz/uploads/files/Kookaburra-cricket-2011uk.pdf
-
Cant see it at the moment Johnny as im on school cpmps. But will go on later :)
-
Hmmm not overly keen on any of it, dont like gloves at all especially rogue! Pads look a little worse every year! Bats not really changed that much!
-
Hardly anything has changed - Rogue range seems to have replaced Ice range, which has Orange graphics as opposed to blue
-
Yeahh preferred the blue!
Bit boring in all!
-
Quite like the orange - might sort myself out woth a set if I can scrape the money together
-
I don't particularly enjoy the orange, much prefered the blue but I suppose they needed to change something this year as most of the other stuff is near enough the same.
-
I like the Kahuna 1000 softs...
but thats about it. Blade softs have gone down in my opinion
-
Don't like the rouge or ccx
Anyone know the proce difference in the Kahuna players and 100 gloves. Also the Kahuna 1000 pads, are they gunna be 3 figures?
-
Sorry guys, can't modify posts on the school computer.
It looks like the gear has be badly photographed?
-
Kookaburra 2011

Are these the new nike shoes?
-
No.
-
Spiked up version of these i think - in a different colour

-
Don't like the yellow piping on the Blade pads, but I do like the Rogue. Was it the Diablo which used to be Orange?
-
Yup
-
Replacing blue with orange. It's upsetting :(
-
Could've left the Ice blue and orange.
-
kook stuff look pretty nice imo love the blade stuff
-
kook stuff look pretty nice imo love the blade stuff
What kook stuff?
-
ahh found it
-
only liking the Kahuna stuff, would be interested in trying the new keeping gloves. but i think the silver keeping gloves get worse every year :(

Are these the new nikes? They look like Nike Dunk trainers.. ?
-
Nope, not the new nikes either. New Nikes have 'flywire' technology!
-
Ah right!
It's just fairly surprising for people to be wearing some nike shoes to net in and they're orange - considering the only info I had of them was they were very orange...
Why is that sort of technology used in cricket shoes? They're going to be way too expensive for anyone!
-
flywire technology, bet they are expensive!!
Dont like the flywire in the footie boots though so we'll see what its like in cricket.
Any sneak peeks tom?
-
I quite like the kookaburra "Super Green" keeping glove
-
If Hussey continues to wear those Nike trainers with his Rogue gear it would look pretty sweet!
-
Regarding GM's range, I understand the sales of the Icon bats have been pretty impressive this year. They use a CNC machine to make the bats but I cannot see how the machine can get the best out of every cleft? and then have the temerity to charge the same or more than a truly hand made bat.
Admittedly I love the Icon shape but surely in the art of podshaving/batmaking man comes out on top.
Does anyone agree or is that a tumble weed I see?
-
Those shoes are Nike CourtBallistec 2.3s, Hussey has a tendency to wear spiked up tennis shoes when he bats.

Other companies (including some on this very forum) use machines to shape/part-shape. It just so happens that GM have marketed their usage of machinery.
-
Most of the main Indian companies use them too, they are more accurate.
Look at the Salix homepage and you will see a pile of pre shaped clefts that have not been spliced yet. You will not see them being used in any of their videos or marketing but there are shots of them being handled with pre cut shoulders, just like the ones on the Screaming Cat site, all cut ready for finishing.
-
I agree that alot machine shape there bats and that's fine as apparently it's the pressing that's the key but a truly hand made bat is still a thing of beauty so torn really guess it's the end result that matters
-

GM seems to leave very little shaping to hands is this the same for other manufacturers? I don't dislike machines doing the work but I would assume a human can get more out a cleft. I agree that cutting excess wood off the back at the shoulders and toe saves time when shaping but the actual profile/balance/feel of the bat surely needs that human touch?
-
Better pic of the gloves. The one on here earlier didn't show them off to their full potential!

which models are these again?
-
Premium top, Super Premium below.
-
They look nice, and I think they're going to grow on me.
Similar to the Itias style?
-
Not really similar, they're a split style. This particular design is unique to Mongoose.
-
Top one doesn't have pittard palm?
-
No it doesn't.
Pittard glove is Super Premium - RRP £65.00
Premium is - RRP £45.00
-
Quite like those Mongoose softs, might have to get a pair when my old gloves give way.
-
The colours on the sweatband look very nice.
-
They are growing on me too, still prefer look of the premium though in terms of designs, but both are better in those pics!
-
The mongoos softs are very very nice and above all, different and new. Theres a lot of colour but it is all concentrated so the white also shows up well. top stuff tom!
-
Will the Mongoose sausage style gloves as used last year be available? Think those gloves look good, but prefer me sausages
-
Will the Mongoose sausage style gloves as used last year be available? Think those gloves look good, but prefer me sausages
I loved last years, would snap a pair of them up straight away!!!
-
They won't be available in stores, but may be available from the Mongoose site/myself. Mid-nov for expected delivery.
Splits as photographed will be in all the UK's bigger cricket retailers,
-
As i am extremelly bored and cannot sleep, i have a treat you you guys,

Same as mine :D! and those are the gloves i love :(
-
Put some pics up of your goose Sam
-

-
Those Mongoose gloves are extremely nice! Anyone else think the Kook CCX shape is looking a bit like SS Jumbo?
-
Just a few pics to give an overview of the stickers, have more detailed ones too though.

Sexy!what weight is it?i like the shape

Looks a nice stick, bit of a beast as well!
-
is lovely! 2lb 7.5 with that profile, ssh handle which feels no different for me!!
-
Massive for 2.7. Is it spliced?
-
Just hope you can play as well as Ashraful ;)
-
Massive for 2.7. Is it spliced?
yeah normal bat, not a cor
-
It was a bat sent to me by a pro to get copied, which he'd used in the World Cup. We did 3 copies and this one was stickered up for net use. Doesn't need it anymore though.
-
Thanks for the pictures Sam!
It looks very good. I hope it goes well for you and yuo score tons of runs with it.
Good work Tom, stickers and grip look nice as well..
-
i'm thinking of going SSH next,im 5 7,good plan?can't believe that's 2 7 1/2.
-
yeah well it is 39.6 oz's so 2lb 7.6 :)
-
I love that shape :)
is this gonna be your low middle weopon of choice?
-
No my low middle of choice is my m+h s6 with retro stickers, this is my wild card ;)
-
get u nick nack will all ur posh new bats ;) some beauties in there tho having seen the goose, GT and S6!! whats ur 4th ??
-
4th is being lined up as we speak, however i will know today if i can get it!
if it falls through then it may be one of yours....a light one!! :D
-
ah right hush hush is it!!! will get some light ones in shortly id imagine in the 2,7 region
-
Sam dont leave us all in suspense...
whats the 4th?
-
No a severely light one of yours maybe, although i know i am second in line for it !
-
Was going to say it looks so much better in terms of profile but I guess that's not a standard CoR3 :/
-
Sam dont leave us all in suspense...
whats the 4th?
I am afraid this isn't possible!
-
The GM bats for 2011 are now on the website
-
All GM gear is, good spot :)
-
I like 2 of the fingers! The rest looks a little cheap imo
-
Those look very similar in style to the redback gloves
-
I am afraid this isn't possible!
I'l remember that mate ;)
btw if you fancy selling that goose next season, i want first dibs :)
-
Haha it will be revealed with good time, ok mate you'll be first to know!
-
anyone know if warsop or salix are bringing out any 2011 range ?
-
KP just confirmed on twitter that there is going to be a new Pellara for 2011, he'll be using it in the ashes
-
Any news on the new Puma ranges? Is the Kieswetter bat the new Iridium?
-
It has been stated on earlier pages in this topic. I believe it is the new Iridium for 2011
-
i have now changed my opinion on GM, it looks quite good
-
Are they paying you Liam? ;)
-
no! i think it look quite classy. Well the icon and the luna anyway. Along with the LE batting gloves, not sure on the other softs
-
Like the bags, not keen on any of the other stuff i must say!
But the bags are only good because they are plain jane!
-
Gloves look ok, as do the spikes but the pads are like marmite (hate them or love them) and the bats look like cheap eBay knock-offs in my opinion.
I wouldn't complain if anyone wanted to give me any of the kit but I don't know if I would keep the stickers on the bats.
-
.....and so Joseph's love affair with GM comes to an end :(
-
awww he still has electric blue though!
-
No Senor Milsom. GM is still my favourite brand however my love for them has been somewhat reduced. Apparently the stickers don't matter as it is the willow that matters, and GM certainly make good bats :)
As for electric blue I haven't seen many 2011 stuff in this colour, maybe Vantage's new bat. Disappointed that Kookaburra replaced the blue Ice with the orange Rogue :(
Bad times.
-
awwww no! bad times.
-
i really like the look of the flare! never gonna be able to afford the extortionate prices though :(
-
i bet u love these lot......(http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq167/tom_ayrtek/blue-man-group.jpg)
-
Would an electric blue grip go with a Mjolnir? ;)
Lmao good work Tom, they're my workers, they also sub-contract for GM. As you can see they're making GM's "Kwik Grip" applicator ;)
-
look at the icon on 360 degree view. How can you say that is horrible?
Really want some of those LE gloves!
-
808s are a similar design.....
-
yes, top call. May get those in stead, although I love pittards!
-
GM 808 bat prices will go up by £10-15.
-
http://www.cricketdirect.co.uk/Catalogue/Cricket-2011/Cricket-Bats
Legend is a joke, rather have a Screaming Cat...
-
how can they justify that price tag?
-
They can't...
-
kookaburra have most of there 2011 stuff on there website now
-
GM have updated their site to 2011 gear too
-
I'm really disappointed that Kookaburra seem to have not included the Ice model for 2011 - the blue stickers with a bit of white in were the best Kookaburra stickers ever in my opinion! So I assume the new Rogue has now replaced it!
-
The Ice was by far and away the best range, in my view....
-
That GN is alot of money! Wow it best be some sort of grade one+ willow for that price tag.
-
Just to let u all know our 2011 products won't be on our website for a month yet just to keep u all in suspenders
-
Suspense? :L
Will this tie in with the arrival of a bag? ;)
-
Haha hopefully 2 of the buggers mate not that it's a big deal or owt lol but will be strutting our stuff asap once all the clobber arrives
-
Lol have you been drinking tonight Thomas? ;)
-
Not at all mate didn't win anything at presentation night :( booo
-
So you didn't drown your sorrows lol. As 1st vice you should create a 'biggest 6' award using your authority ;)
-
the new quantum has the exact same stickers as the australian evo just in red, still look good though
-
No one likes a show off mate lol
-
Our presentation night is on the 23rd, I know I've atleast got a trophy for my 110 in the 2's :) dunno if I'll get one for highest Sunday 1st score ???
It's been a good year for batting this year :)
-
Yeh I got out done by 60 runs by a bloke I sold a bat too who scored 404...think he hot his moneys worth!
-
Who was that? Lol
-
Mad dog in our 2nds unlike u lot only our league games count towards our totals for the season lol 56 games or whatever u played lol
-
I've played 45 I think ???
Still over 1100 runs and 546 of them in the league :)
-
Dear Thomas, will one of those be an Ayrtek Duffel?
-
No more new products Tom the wife will kill me
-
Yeah new duffle and bag planned to finish off the range
-
Ohh no, bad times for my money
-
haha well still awaiting the samples at the moment so they may not be to your liking ;)
-
Ahhh guessing they are not electric blue then!!
-
maybe green, black, silver, white or a bit of a combination between a few of them? ;)
-
something along those lines mr peplow :)
-
Well I'm afraid I'm out
-
sounds nice!! Roco wont be able to help himself!
Very off topic and i apologise! - Olv drew btw! Ask ben when training is please? Thanks!
-
yeh saw him last night mate, think its tuesdays but will find out!
-
and where :D
Cheers!
-
Any pictures of your new duffle Tom?
-
haha well still awaiting the samples at the moment so they may not be to your liking ;)

Intresting indeed i sure i told the forum about the scuff sheets around 6 months ago but some on here thought they new what i was going on about but that why there going to be around 10 pound a pop
-
On the new kit for 2011 season,i popped in to Hawk today and had a look at their new ranges.I saw the new prototype stickers on one of their newly shaped bats.Labels were only paper but going on what they told me they going too look very nice in chrome. The bat shape has a bigger swell at the bottom and slightly thicker at the top of the blade, willow looks as good as ever. The softs look really good this year with two new gloves, the top of the range is a sausage style in white and silver with pittards leather palms.Tried these on and they felt superb with lots of protection and cost £60.New batting pads and wk pads and gloves both look smart,wk gloves are very crazy! If i go again i try and get some pics.
-
New blue Slazeger gloves? From what I have seen from them so far, it is an improvement on last years range.

New Slazenger bags
http://www.owzat-cricket.co.uk/acatalog/Slazenger_Kit_Bags.html
-
The new slaz duffle bag looks good, not sure on the rest, the V145 bag looks interesting!
-
Big Improvement for me, not in terms of appearance but in the storage sections for the bigger bags. I really like that.
-
New Kookaburra bags are on there too....
-
The new slaz duffle bag looks good, not sure on the rest, the V145 bag looks interesting!
the v145 bag would be better with wheels i expect
-
it looks as if it has backpack straps which i guess is why it doesnt have wheels.
-
2011 gray nics, salix, aero, newbury bags are also up
-
Very disappointed that no new gear has been added to any company other the Slazenger!
-
Cough cough lol
-
Get your bags up!!!
-
All in good time mate ;)
-
Yes Tom hurry up!
-
Can only go as fast as our manufacturers I'm afraid, they have said they will be here by the 1st week of November though and I should have images next week of them :)
-
But I want to spend money now! Lol
-
Feel free to pay for one them and await their delivery lol
-
Ooo tempting. Pre-order discount? ;)
-
Can only go as fast as our manufacturers I'm afraid, they have said they will be here by the 1st week of November though and I should have images next week of them :)
Looking forward to that as I have reserved one!!!
-
KP was doing a Q&A on twitter with a signed bat and shirt as a prize. He just posted this http://plixi.com/p/51631220 (http://plixi.com/p/51631220). Arent those different stickers to the usual Pellara??
-
Maybe the new one he will be sporting in aus
-
I know he said he'd be using the new one in aus, they are defo different stickers
-
hope that aint it! its horrible
-
I doubt it as they don't have his 'KP' bit on them.
-
Do we reckon kp will come good in the ashes?could be intersting if he has continues to have a mare in the warm u games selectionwise..
-
Does look a bit crap, although its not great pic. looks like they've gone down the GM route of making their stickers look like horrendous ebay fakes
-
Can anyone post some pics of kookaburra's rogue range?
-
look on the kookaburra website
-
have a look at these. Premium pads are sexy!!!

I have to agree Liam

love the purple stickers i must say!

I have to agree with both Liam and Colesy.

-
cant see them colesey :(
-
Is that ok, some weird crap came up in the post ???
-
take a while to load but come up eventually, checkered flag styling to tie in with the racing themes they have
-
I think those softs are pretty ugly.
-
not my cuppa tea either...
-
Oh dear. I like newbery gear but these are not nice!! Really not keen at all. Shame because I bet they aren't as cheap as they look
-
Pads are okay but the gloves are foul, shiny black leather!
-
don't agree that they look cheap, look to be fundamentally a decent glove.
they're just following the thruxton motor racing theme with black and white checks, but when compared to the colourways from other manufacturers make them look a little bland.
-
Those gloves look rather garish, mainly because the black is so shiny. I can imagine them growing on me though! Pads look classy as per though.
-
if you went the whole hog with bat, pads & gloves they'd look fine, but you'd need a pair of black and white only cricket boots too, that's asics & nike out of the running!
-
Adidas it is then ;)
-
Agreed, it'd have to be a running theme. Same goes for most brands with bold/different bat stickers. I'd like most of my kit to be matching anyway, if not at least the softs!
-
From first look they look like Uzi designees whereas colour scheme doesn't look that great to me.
Which palm is it? I am sure it is Pittard but can't see the tag :(
-
I quite like them - very ska!
-
(http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg291/scaled.php?tn=0&server=291&filename=3cne.jpg&xsize=640&ysize=640)
morgans bats for the ashes
-
He'll never swing all them in one go for a reverse sweep surely
-
A couple of them haven't got the 'Big Edge' sticker. Hope it stays that way/.
-
the middle looks quite low on it
-
How did u manage to see those liam?! :-[
-
Twitter
-
Must be amazing being a pro! grr wish I had more talent!
-
Be grateful for the talent you have :)
-
Good point well made Colesy :)
-
My mate has literally just told me he's got into Gloucestershire's fast bowlers program and I wish I was as good as him...
-
Must be amazing being a pro! grr wish I had more talent!
The other option is to work as hard as Strauss and Collingwood who really are not the most talented players ever but are the most hard working (Collingwood especially)
-
Mongoose, Puma and Newbery ranges now on:
https://www.talentcricket.co.uk/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=30&Itemid=102&TreeId=85
-
Has the old blue Kookaburra Ice range been ditched for this orange "Rogue" range (the pads look the same, just orange)
If so I am glad I have stocked up on the blue stash as I don't look good in orange!!
-
I really want some of the Puma grips! So nice.
-
i want them puma bats really bad!
-
im about to order the puma irridium 5000
-
Their not releasing the calibre until march? Dam it!
-
Why have most of the brands gone with big brash colours ? not seen anything of the 2011 kit which has interested me.
-
Who's most?
Bold colours are in season at the moment too.
-
Kook, puma and goose are fairly bold. GM aren't imo, GN are becoming more bold. I dont think its a bad thing, and certainly seems to be "in" currently. But i do like a classy salix, newbery look at times :)
-
Who's most?
Bold colours are in season at the moment too.
GN Kook Puma Mongoose are all very bold in my opinion and for the part about bold colours being in at the moment well that's a matter of opinion but what people think is in right now wont be come summer 2011, i much prefer the understated quality look in white cream silver etc etc !
-
The usual suspects are bold, the usual ones are subtle.
No huge brand strategy shifts and I wouldn't say most are bold or most are subtle.
-
Yeah kook have replaced their possibly only slightly subtle and classy range, the ice, with a very bold and bright one, the rogue!
-
Ive listed 4 out of say 5 companies who have the 2011 kit advertised and all in my opinion are bold and brash in terms of colours, some people love it others hate it that's the way the world works and I'm very much my own person and decide what i like or dislike. I'm certainly not one to listen to what people say is in etc and join the sheep que lol.
-
A lot of the guys like Adidas and Puma get advised by branding agencies such as WGSN as to what the fashions are and aren't.
Fashions aren't about opinions, they're manufactured by branding people
-
I know what i like and what i don't and I'm on about bold brash colours which i don't need a branding agency to advise me on what i think is bold and brash. I have heard all the comments about whats in and whats not in terms of fashion and in terms of colours and could list many many differing opinions from different fashion houses in regards to this. I worked in the fashion industry for over 10 years and the companies paying the most in sponsorship and advertising have the biggest say of whats hot and whats not.
-
Glad to see you agree with me, in a round about way.
-
Tom i never agree with anyone or at least you wouldn't here me say it.
-
The only nice new products for me are the new GM LE Gloves, the Vantage gear, the Mongoose gloves and the new GN bats (Oblivion and Legend), and I base that opinion purely on the quality of the product at first glance. Although I am sure the Salix/Bradbury softs will be top class again.
Like many Kookaburra fans I was disapponted to see the Ice range go, and can't see why either. I can't see how the CCX range possibly sold more of each gloves/pads or bats.
-

I don't understand why they have ditched the Ice stuff... I have been using it for the last 3 seasons, but obviously electric blue is sooo last year. :(

It was very classy gear. The Ice sausage gloves were very nice, the pads were simply Blue RPs but £50 less.
"They don't make kit like they did in my day...."
-
There are some lovely looking ice 850 gloves on the bay for £40 that have pitards palms and were apparently going to will smith (not the actor!!), they look lovely!
-
Didn't really notice any sausage gloves available however didn't look at every brand perhaps another look is needed as they are the best gloves.
-
i would love to buy a pair of kahuna players gloves and kahuna 1000 pads. I know they would last, but way too expensive!
-

very nice!
thats the pair :D
-
A very decent seller but Right Hand ain't no gooooodddd !
-
Someone buy these, I am too tempted!
-
ROmida were doing them for £30 in their sale when I picked up a second pair for next year... :)
-
Are they usually pittards? Wasn't sure ???
-
mine are. They weren't in the original Ice Sub Zeros, but the 850's have excellent pittard palms.

and pads

-
From all the stuff so far, I like mongoose the most. The gloves are almost iconic and the pads are to die for. Kook and Puma have lost it with the colours and collage of materials they use. GN, Newbery and GM look the same to last year.
-
only 2 sets of gear from puma next year?
-
i like mongoose and puma overall.
GM not impressed.
GN same old same old
Newbery same as last year
-
puma are releasing their 3rd range in march. As they did with the Kinetic this year. It is called the calibre, i was expecting it to be the red/bright yellow colour, like the austalian one. But the Kinetic has these colours
-
Any new Masuri's??
-
There is a greeny Aqua color bat in a traditional shape coming from Puma
-
are the softs green tom? ballistic style?
-
No, Puma Zenith colours. If anyone remembers that bat
-
Is the Blue/Orange bat the new range?
Like the 2 strap Kinetic pads, they look like a normal pair of pads, unlike the standard 2 strap pads from other companies.
-
blue orange is the iridium
-
got any catalogues in which you could picture the gloves and send me on bbm?
So the calibre is a traditional bat is aqua greeny colours?
-
Calibre is vivid blue and lime punch in a traditional shape. No photos.
-

-
No.
-
The oz ones are pink
-
Who make Puma softs? SS?
-
two indian factories, one is sondhi not sure about the other maybe ss.
-
two indian factories, one is sondhi not sure about the other maybe ss.
Ahh okay.
The mesh on thumb looks a lot similar to SS gloves one.
-
Thought all Puma/Slazenger and Readers gear was manufactured by FC Sondhi, theres a video somewhere about his factory.
Arent all Puma bats made in India/Finished in England, apart from 6000 models which are English made too?
-
they use two factories in case one goes bust as an insurance policy.
-
New Puma Kinetic gloves

on talent cricket mate, not mad about them but it think its the shape they are photographed in that i think is putting me off!
-

I am not sure about Puma and Readers but yes Slazenger gear was manufactured by FC Sondhi.
I think they were made in India whereas 6000 made in England by Pack I believe.
-
Those kinetic gloves look lush! But, maybe to correct cover_drive, I thought Robert Pack only refurbed bats didn't he.
-
No rob pack makes them along with blue room doesn't he?
-
OK maybe I'm wrong. But maybe one of the Real bat whores on here can tell us...
-
rob makes blue room and puma yes.
-
Readers and Slazenger are made by Sondhi.
-
Readers suck big time, they should stick to balls. had one of their bats and was an absolute plank!
-
I thought he did the top end pumas/some pro bats and the blue room bats.
I really like those puma gloves, some of the Robinson sports gloves look similar to last seasons puma gloves.
-
Puma split production between Sareen and Sondhi for soft's, the top end are made by Sareen, there is a similar set up with the bats too in India with the top end being made in the UK and finished by Rob Pack for Puma.
I think they have the best looking and best produced goods for a big brand.
-
Visited the local Cricket store of mine and the best bat there was a GM Icon Le followed by the Iridium 6000, very nice bats. Forgot how nice their grips are too....
-
Thanks Mike!
So Puma is another company who's softs are being made by SS. I am guessing Flextech pads are made by SS as well?
Below are the following company who's softs are made by SS;
Newbery
Salix
Puma (Top End only)
Mongoose
SS
Am I missing anyone here?
-
Morrant? Dukes? SS?
Didnt realize Salix, only thought the Keeping gear was....
-
newbery, salix, puma would be my top 3 softs, ss are doing a good job!!
-
Morrant? Dukes? SS?
Didnt realize Salix, only thought the Keeping gear was....
You sure?
Salix softs are made by SS.
-
newbery, salix, puma would be my top 3 softs, ss are doing a good job!!
Agreed!
SS, is seriously good a very good job with softs. I don't think anyone will argue that SS aren't the best soft maker in the world.
-
Many more, but there is another manufacturer that I think are level, maybe even edging ahead.....
-
Many more, but there is another manufacturer that I think are level, maybe even edging ahead.....
Can you name any of the bigger brands, if there are any?
Which one is that?
-
Agreed!
SS, is seriously good a very good job with softs. I don't think anyone will argue that SS aren't the best soft maker in the world.
Good job I just bought some SS gloves :D

Good job I just bought some SS gloves :D
So have I :D. Which one did you buyÉ
-
Ummm camo split finger ones.
-
Has anyone seen the new SG 2011 gear?
-
Hi mate, welcome to the forum.
I have not seen any news about SG stuff for 2011, if anyone does it shall be posted here :)
-
Ummm camo split finger ones.
They look great. It would have been great if they had Pittard palm as well.
-
Yeah saw that they had pittard style palms on the sausage finger style :(
-
Find it odd how everyone is now hyping up a pittards palm, we used them on our gloves in 2005 but the pros said they preferred calf skin as it gave them a greater sense of touch on the gloves
-
My only experience with Pittard gloves are my mate's Bradbury Players and they're very nice. But wouldn't pay a lot more for them over normal calf skin palms
-
i think its a nice luxory but not essectial, however i owuld always pick a pittards palm over a calf one if given the choice, your are so soft tom that i think it gives more of a feel of the bat!
-
Hayden and Symonds won't touch pittards palms. They do however go through 10 gloves a tournament.
The advantage I see with petards is they don't go hard once you've sweat in them.
-
Apart from that Tom I would say the softness somewhat make them a bit more comfortable.
As far Hayden and Symo are concerned I guess it is ones preference
-
Here are new CA pads (not sure which model though). They looked improved as they have introduced knee cap and the inner hat looks leather.

Has anyone seen the new SG 2011 gear?
hello mate see the full SG latest 2011 range here...full catalogue!!
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Online-Stockist-Cricket/121460267865184?ref=ts
the new range is really tempting & softs are quite improved this time...
-
Pittard's leather is the same as non treated leather, most people including some in the industry seem to think that the pattern makes the difference, it doesn't. Having sat in their HQ in Yeovil and been shown all the types of leather available treated and untreated with water testing I understand what the treatment does. They cut a pattern in the leather because they can and it shows the difference between it and untreated standard leather.
Most brands want the softest leather in their palms so all the treatment does is allow the use of this as it prolongs the life of whatever leather is treated. You could use untreated leather for palms and change the gloves a lot but the same leather treated will stay softer longer and last better, even a Pro might see the benefit of this.
Sadly a lot of cheaper brands are just getting the pattern copied and claiming to use Pittard's, to me this is a great indicator of a brands worth and I'd avoid them.
-
We at Lekka are very happy with the Xtrax Grip Palms for our gloves.
-
I think the SG stuf looks nice - but until I can get normal sized gloves, I wont be partaking again!
-
We at Lekka are very happy with the Xtrax Grip Palms for our gloves.
i like the idea of these gloves, what grips are recommended on your bat for optimum grip?
-
I think its the 'Xtrax' grip, as that was the one shown in the Wisden review along with the gloves.
-
The wrap grips or the xtrax combi grip work best i am informed :)
-
Im tempted to buy that comedy t20 they do with the huge profile. Just wish you didnt have to order from india and their was a UK retailer selling them
-

Sneaky peak at Adidas.
-
very black and white...moved away from the yellows?!?!
-
Yellow Toe Guard Thomas :)
-
i meant the softs mate....sure the pellicanra will still have sum luminous yellow
-
Anyone have any idea when the slazenger gear is being released? I have a mate that is constantly bugging me for it!
-
the back of the pellara was also on show... on the bottom of the right hand page of the double spread
-
If anyones interested prodirect have all the new asics on show, some of them are pretty vile...

Noticed that earlier the green ones have really grown on me
-
i really like the idea of the speed menace shoes

The green ones will look much nicer in the flesh, I think. I like the blue/white gel speed menace ones though.
-
anyone no what these pads are called? or where you can get them from?
They will most likely be the 12000 or 10000 and I doubt they are available yet to the General public, unless they are being sold in Asia.
-
Love all the new asics! especially the blue red and white ones
-
my local cricket shop is getting the new asics is soon, don't know wether they are cheaper or not, see here

Not sure about that as CA hasnt updated there website.
As a fellow poster said they are would probably be CA 12000 or CA 10000
-
Has anyone got any pictures or information on the new Puma Calibre? I've just bought a new Puma Calibre grip so wanted to see if I could see what it looks like, I went on colours over the new Iridium grip and Kinetic grip lol
-
i've heard its blue/green
-
Yeah the grip is lime and 'vivid' blue so it will go better with my bat than the other two. just wanted to see what it actually looked like.
-
where is the grip from?

Urghhh!

they are pretty ming, but i thought that about the green ones when i first saw those and i really like them now
-
i'd love to get some of the top end bats, like a really good puma but for 220+ quid you have got to be joking.

From Charlotte Edwards's Twitter - New disco Hunts labels...
-
i actually quite like them ! especially the black one in the middle !
-
I think they are pretty hideous - but at the same time I rather like them - especially the blue and the black models. You can keep the orange and green!!
-
I'll take the green one then ;)
-
I think they are pretty hideous - but at the same time I rather like them - especially the blue and the black models. You can keep the orange and green!!
My thoughts entirely . . . the kind of bats Austin Powers would use :)
-
Blue and Black ones are gnarly as anything! They look well cool. As for the Triumph and Glory (Green and Orange respectively)... Well, I'm glad I got last year's Glory. Hideoussss!

agree with all that , unless the photos not showing the green in the right light ............ i feel abit ill ............ blue ones aare pretty nice tho, more of a classic look , alot of brands seem to be going that way
-
stickers are very nice have a matte and gloss finish to different sections of them... you cant see this in the one above tho which is a shame

i no its absolutely ridiculous , how much are the addidas grade 3s ? surely they should be priced more to this price point ?
-
adidas grade 3 (club) is only 130 is most shops. I say only, because I am comparing it to nike - but for that price I can get a GM 808 or a redback!
-

Are these the new style of flextech pads by puma for 2011? They look a lot less bulky and a lighter!
-
must admit the pads look good!
-
pumas new flectech pads are already out matt, look on talernt cricket in the iridium range
pictures of james taylor using the new incurza on getty images, albeit not very good ones
-
Yeah I saw that, I checked talent cricket before putting this picture up... Could they be the Kinetic 6000 range?

What is Freddie doing?!
Trying to justify his massive contract he has outstanding with Puma. He was all over the catalogue i saw on Thursday, along with Kieswetter
-
Classic. He will still sell Puma products in the future, just not so much Cricket. At a guess.
-
I cant see him selling anything but cricket gear for them really. Unless they are gonna try and go down the beckham/adidas route, cant see it really myself, good luck to him though
-
Unless they are gonna try and go down the beckham/adidas route
I think thats exactly what they'll do!
-
surely puma were smart enough to put a clause in his contract about if he stops playing ? ? ? so i can only assume they do still want him ? ? ?
-
I think the new puma gear looks top drawer
-
He still endorses their kit wherever he goes, even on A League Of Their Own
-
Exactly Colesy.

I really like Puma's current marketing thingy, the whole <3 = motif that appears everywhere.

Much nicer than the gold ones last season IMO
-
Not sure if new Newbery Thruxton gloves are on any websites yet but saw an advert for them in AOC this month. The gloves shown were split design, mostly which but a fair bit of black on them apparently they feature gel impact protection.
-
anyone no what these pads are called? or where you can get them from?
Actually they are CA Plus and not 12,000 or 10,000.
Check this video out;

Have a close look at the inner side of pads and knee area.

Slaz stuff is out on talent cricket - first reactions - OMG! Pop art for the masses
Bats look well nice but softs are whack
(https://www.talentcricket.co.uk/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/Slazenger_V100_U_4cd7ed8315f72.jpg)(https://www.talentcricket.co.uk/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/Slazenger_V500_U_4cd7f9f54c314.jpg)(https://www.talentcricket.co.uk/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/Slazenger_V200_C_4cd7efc144f6c.jpg)
£70 for best gloves is way too much. Thats more than I pay for my pads lol

Why are there 2 different blues on the pads, non of which match the gloves?!
-
One of the best looking range by Slazenger lately. V100 looks massive and look like a great bat.
Pads look horrible whereas gloves are okay whereas multi colours one look alright as it's new to see and one of a innovation I would say.
-
Uzair miyan could u plz vacate ur Inbox, so that i can email u here....i tried to send u PM but since memory is full so message cannot be sent!!
-
v500 bat looks mint!
-
Agree with J-Riss - the V500 looks the best of the three, although all three have very sub-continent looks about them!
-
Aaaaaaaah a blue V500, brings back memores of Alec Stewart twisting his bat between deliveries.

-
The set for me

Pads look tad similar to SS Highlites
-
Why can't they simply copy what they do in Aus? I like the range down there. The bat shapes are nice, and the stickers have been improved but the softs are vile, I would prefer any company over Slaz for softs.
-
I love the profile of the v500
-
Despite the bat designs which are quite nice am I right in thinking Slazenger is sliding off the map?
I think that they're potentially having a bit of a renaissance. They aren't helped by the driftwood sold in Sports Direct, but I feel that their softs offer a quality and understated alternative to Puma, without being minimalist like GM and Newbery. A good few of the up and coming Yorkies use their gear and they could be part of the England set-up soon (Rashid, Bresnan, Bairstow).
Just a big humpy V12 classic and their range would be complete ... :)
-
Slazenger always seem to be on sale in proper cricket shops. Usually the last bits of the gear from seasons previous that they cant shift (even on sale)
-
They shouldn't be where they are.
-
They shouldn't be where they are.
Where's that?
-
FC Sondhi
-
my first bat was a Slazenger V100 armourtec, so will always have fond memories of Slaz although doubt id ever get another one due to todays offerings
-
I actually think the quality of the product is as good as anything else, but the market position seems to be getting smaller and the constant unveiling of each years range as the best bat design ever before being completely binned for another just sends out the message that they couldn't give a fig about the brand. Everything in the range lasts for 12 months only and as soon as the season is started the retailers need to get rid of it as it will soon become lasts years models.
-
I've just seen my local shop has Piri Piri bats in for 2011, any idea who makes them? They stand out in a line up! but I'm still on the fence.
-
Piri Piri's ive seen look great, im just a little unsure on the branding. If they threw in a free nandos voucher i might go for one ;)
-
if they did a nando card which entitled you to a free bat after your cards been stamped 20 times, i reckon id have a few in my kit bag by now lol
-

i tried a pair of the top gloves on last season and they were very snug, i dont think they stand out in any way the traditionalist will go for newbs etc and someone wanting modern will go for Puma...... Slaz are stuck in the middle somewhere

Could be better, could be worse.
-
hmmm not a fan! if the tongue section was whiter then would be better! we'll see them in better pics though!
-
they have gone with the orange as Mike Hussey is using the new orange kook range and is also sponsored by Nike
personally I think they are grim and they need to be really improved.
I am trying to organise a lunch with a mate who works at Nike to discuss them. Funnily enough he is evading me!!
-
hmmm not a fan! if the tongue section was whiter then would be better! we'll see them in better pics though!
Agreed, can't quite see them properly if you know what I mean. Sometimes photos make colours look completely different. Asics and Adidas were still by far the most popular choices in my area, I hope the price will come down.
-
they do look grim but i bet they are bl00dy comfy they remind me of my nike presto's

-
Nope :D
-
They used to sponsor tottenham no? thats all i know of pony haha!
-
my dad had some pony boots when i was younger so remember them and when i was a kid at the club there were still some buckles knocking around!
A mate of mine still wear some old pony boots he found in the garage!

-
my only old school boots were a pair of diadora's ala keane and neville!!
-
Nike Vapors all the way!
-
Haha no way, old school preds were the best! although maybe a few years back vapors were okay. Adidas all the way nowadays! except new preds!
-
I had one pair of silver Preds back in the day. Most of my boots have been Nike
-
thinking back, my first pair of footie boots were some horrible purple and black pony ones i think.
-
The best Pony came from Detroit in 1967 :)

I had a pair of Quaser footie boots, like Lineker used to wear...

I'd have been 1 ;) haha
I wouldn't even have been born :) Damn!

Unique, I'll give them that but I bet they're still too pricey.

I love the googlys, much better than last years. but the rest are a step back imo!

adidas gear is horrible in my opinion!

This is the first photo I've seen of the new M&H Amplus, looks like an interesting shape, high edges distribution of weight and a "pro handle" (not sure what that is).

The Distinction has gone down to £260....
I think I might for a special Xmas present
-
pro handle, maybe the counterweight but up the top?
-
and it looks thicker at the bottom

Salix...

Stunning! Where is that from? Website?
-
Cor blimey, guvnor!
-
WOW! These stickers are impeccable and they look brilliant!
-
was always getting a pod one for next season....now I cant wait!!!!!!!! looks AWSOME!!!!!!!!
-
On nom nom nom nom. Now that's a niiice looking set of stickers
-
Not 100% :/
-
the front sticker looks like it comes down along way....i thought the max legnth is 9 inches for a front sticker?
-
Looks class mind!!!
-
Not mad about it, the shape looks like a parrots tail haning down, quite like the shinyness and simplicity but prefer years gone by!
-
the whole new range is on cricketsupplies.com
-
a lot of companies seem to be moving away from stickers that surround the top of the blade, gm on all bats, gn on the legend and now salix on all bats.
-
As sticker printing evolves so will the designs....embossed stickers etc weren't possible before but times are changing
-
Salix stickers are lush
-
Right, I've warmed to the GM stickers a little. The quality of them is very good and not too in your face, but the blades are still as good as ever :)
-
Yeah I'm the same. They don't look s bad when you see them on tv :)
-
when you see them in the flesh you will fall in love with them !
-
new gm ranges are awesome, whatever they do it always grows on me!
-
The Salix range looks good but beware anyone looking to buy a bat, they have changed the names around for 2011, nothing is the same as last year.
-
Wonder why Watson isn't using the 2011 stuff.
-
Because 2011 isn't launched in Australia yet - and as a Australian player he's more marketable over there.
-
Yeh I suppose. Him and Hopes are the only big GM players really aren't they?
-
Voges too.
-
Oh yeah I forgot about him. He seems to have fallen off the radar a bit.
-
When I first saw the GM stickers I was disappointed, they did grow on me so I went to Owzat to have a closer look. I was really impressed with how classy and simple they were, I especially like the raised edges on the main front and back stickers- will be very hard to copy!

On the back of my fun-packed trip to Romida in Leatherhead yesterday – I pass on the following…
The Kook softs are as good as ever and they expect to sell loads of them – not so the bats which they said were mixed – apart from the red (CCX?) kit which was not so good to look at. We all agreed that the ICE kit would be missed as it was preferable to the replacement Orange range.
The G and M bats were extremely good (branding was a bit mixed and the APEX was not a popular shape) I thought the softs (the original gloves) looked a bit plane and were still expensive.
The GN stuff was pretty good especially the 5* bats for £150 – they (and I) felt these were better value for money than the Legend – which was admittedly extremely nice…
Of the more expensive bats they said they expected the Distinction and the new M and H bat the Amplus to be a huge hit (I couldn’t disagree)
They had some really good looking SF softs in stock and expected the bats to be very popular again this year.
Disappointingly they wouldn’t be offering any county gear this year – which given the rebrand and the enduring quality we also agreed was a shame.
Finally they said they would be stocking the Mongoose this season… :o
-
Out of all the stuff I have seen, and it kills me to say this, Gray Nics was the best stuff.

All the Salix gear is up on Cricket Supplies

-
it will never catch on
-
no mate i agree....no one would ever think of using that in cricket helmets!
had a chuckle when reading albions ultimate 98 helmet details earlier.....found our first leaflet from October 2008 as well...think they must have used it as their template lol

The old impala stickers were awesome and really good quality but then South australia redbacks sued them and they were forced to remove the animals from their stickers. Does anyone know if impala are still around or if they shut down?
-
Impala went bust, I think once GCCC stopped stocking them due to their products not being as good as they used to be, they lost their main source of business so they went bust. But I think they are going to re-open, not too sure when but thats what I read somewhere, can't exaclty remember where I read it though. GCCC went with bradbury instead, so hopefully Impala can go good again as they were a good brand a few years ago.
-
Impala make bats for half the aussie team, maybe if they went bust it would explain why aus were so poor in the ashes if they had all been given planks!
-
I had an Impala redback i bought from GCCC and it was a lovely bat picked up beautifully and am pretty sure it had some sort of counterbalance handle..... was great whilst using out in oz but back here the high middle was wasted and broke after too many drives low on the bat....... was a nice bat tho

I don't think they've made bats for the Aussie team for sometime now. I am 99% sure they went bust as their website does not exist anymore, even when you type it in google no impala sports website comes up.
-
Impala went bust in 2008
-
a couple of the female players were using them in the game before todays 20 20 ?????
-
Impala went bust in 2008
They couldn't have gone bust in 08 as I have last seasons GCCC catalogue 09-10, and they had all the Impala gear in their still, Bats, pads and gloves. So they must have gone for this season and maybe just revamping their brand.
Yeah the females used to be mainly sponserd by impala and they don't get anywhere near the amount of money than the blokes and pretty much have to buy their own kit, so they would have otten the bats 09-10 and thats not that long ago so they probs just keep the bats instead of buying new ones.
-
I was in Australia in 08 at G.C.C.C. and he said they bought loads of Impala kit so they just sold it off..
It was what i was told but look at the stickers out of the catalogue and the softs there the same from the previous season..
I had a good chat with a bloke from Kingsgrove Sports who corroborated what he said...
They do not sell them anywhere now to my knowledge
Could be wrong but the 3 leading cricket shops in Aus
Kingsgrove
Meulamans
Greg Chappell
None stock them i guess the brand is dead as we know it maybe they downsized

My bad, should have known as Impala bought out near range and GCCC still had the stuff from the previous year. On the GCCC facebook page someone asked if they still stocked Screaming cat or Impala and their response was;
"No we don't stock either. The owner of Screaming Cat (Julian Millichamp) decided to scale back the amount of bats he produced. It was very sad to see them go. Also after many good years the quality of Impala stated to decline, so we went with Bradbury."

Wtf is this?
Apparently junior Krakatoa??
-
Maybe an attempt to make Newbs more visually appealing to youngsters...you know how when you're young you like a colourful bat lol... :)
-
The sticker on the back reminds me of the Kookaburra Genesis (at least I think the Genesis had those colours).
-
Yeah you're right. I remember that kind of decal when I had a genesis thunder a while back :)
-
Just saw Boom Boom 2011 range and I must say I'm truly impressed with there improvements! They have improved immensely! REally liking the Signature range...
http://boomboomcricket.com/gear
-
Yeah, they had a boom boom 150/175 in both the red and blue stickers in globe. Looked nice bats and picked up well.
-
I really like the new Signature gloves
-
Those BoomBoom's look very nice. Bit of a trek to try a few out though
-
Bit late really but I've had my hands on the new Slazenger V100 for the past week or two knocking it in. It isn't a £250 blade, infact one of the lower bleached ones, don't let this put you off as it has 10 straight grains and one small knot just above half-way on the blade. It also has a butterfly half-way up the blade but doesn't look unsightly. Comes with a lime toe guard and white octopus grip.
The bat has unbelievable balance, it feels very, very nice playing shots and for about 2.10/2.11 picks up surprisingly well. There is lots of concaving with a mid middle which seems good with a mallet. Edges are a fair size, at a guess about 28mm with a fairly raised spine and also a oval handle. There is quite a large bow in the blade and wouldn't be disappointed if I was given it as a gift.
I think £60 was paid for it and imo that's good value for money. Without the knot and the discolouration from the bleach this could easily be regarded as a nice bat.

New Aero inners....worth £25?
