That sounds like a long day mate.

Could have been a good game in the making too

Long long 40 odd overs (we play 46 but bowled them out). Yeah could have been, had a weakened side but I'd have fancied knocking it off as was a decent track / quick outfield for April.

Sounds as though a well batted is in order @RF !

Opposition only had 9 players including a couple of young lads who had not even entered their teenage years.

We won toss on a green top so invited the opposition to bat first which was a sensible decision given the weather forecast. Our hopes of knocking them over quickly seemed on course until one of these youngsters had other ideas and played an innings of great maturity (less said about the some of the previous batting the better). I bowled first change and my first 5 overs were maidens although the little bugger ruined my spell as he splendidly pulled a long hop of mine to the boundary then followed this up with straight drive for a couple. I couldn't get him out in my 6 overs and he must have scored around 15-20 runs (not bad for 12 year old playing adult cricket) before he finally succumbed to a ball which kept low. The opposition posted just 72-7 in their 40 overs and we knocked this off in 14.1 overs for the loss of just 1 wicket. Should add their keeper had a match to forget getting out first ball to dreadful shot before then dropping 3 catches in our innings.

We were very lucky with weather as it started raining during the tail-end of our innings and 10 minutes more would have probably seen the game at least halted if not abandoned.

In homage to @FattusCattus i also had a first yesterday.

We bowled first at corley and they smashed/bullied/annhilated our attack for 307-3 in 39 overs declared.
We got to 238 all out in the 54th over of the game. I opened and was last man out for 125. Flicked one off my legs and got caught at short fine leg. My first ton, mixed with annoyance at not being able to see through the last portion of the game. Broken man this morning, although hopefully a full run down of the cats exploits will perk me up a bit.

Bowled 11 overs yesterday, took 2-56, should of gone for less but out fielding was horrific in the deep! Scored 4, and then played the stupidest shot I have ever played, was batting by numbers and went to hit inside out on a ball on leg stump

p
So how did you personally do?
Poorly. LBW for 3 to make it 4/4 in the 5th over. Damn the umpire, bowlers Union.
it's alright though, get all the bad innings out in the friendlies.

Won today. We ground out 140-7 in 40 overs. My innings was a turgid, yawn fest of 55* batting the whole innings. Combination of factors, rust, lost the strike at the wrong times, slow wicket despite looking hard, also a green top meant nobody was driving much. Losing wickets at the wrong time didn't help either. To be fair after loads of extras I did score half the runs off the bat so nobody else was setting the world alight either. Anyway, thought we were 30 below par but the oppo folded for 65, having been 42-9 at one point (and we gifted then 30 odd extras).I guess you never know what a good score is!

Bowled around 13/14 overs straight.Finished with 4/50.Golden duck with the bat.( that's 2 ducks in my last 2 innings) I don't know what's going on with my batting at the moment.Pre season nets I was picking up length immediately whereas now I'm really struggling to pick it up.

Finally the runs are flowing

89 yesterday and 104 today. Most pleasing thing was the two main things I've learnt this winter are really working out well and making a huge difference

I top scored with 70 off 68 out of 231, took two catches and a stumping and still managed to snare the dick of the day title. I was going along very nicely, hadn't offered a chance all day apart from a nick that didn't carry early on. The bowler was about three overs into his spell when one got stuck in his hand as he went to release it, resulting in a very wide double bouncer which I should have just left, but for some inexplicable reason I decided to chase it off the square and give it a heave. Of course I edged it straight up to backward point. What a (No Swearing Please).

Any one else had this issue? Training on indoor surfaces and getting used to the regular bounce to only then get caught on the crease lbw playing a back foot defensive shot which hit half way up my shin during the first outdoor game of the season. Yes I should have known the slow and low nature of April pitches in the UK but those winter nets might not have helped for the first game.

Oh well time to learn from my mistake and onto the next game.

(Note to self, GET ON THE FRONT FOOT!!!)

Batted well on Saturday, came in on a hatrick ball first innings of the season  :( (thankfully it was full and straight so I was able to put it away!) got going fairly quickly, made 32 off of 30 balls before I didn't get my head to the ball and dollied one up to cover! Just need to work on getting my head to it and also getting across when trying to cut it, any tips for this?
