Played my 4th game of the season today and got my 3rd awful LBW decision. Starting to really hate people standing at the umpires end when they have no idea what they are doing. Managed to bat for a bit if time today which was good even if I didn't make a great score. We chased 166 for the loss of just myself with my opening partner making 103 no. Also faced probably the sharpest bowler if faced in the last 3 season. He was quick in a very dead and flat track but manger to see him off. On a positive keeping going well took my 10th catch in 4 games and also my first stumping of the season.

Let's hope fortune is on my side in 2 weekends time.

51*odd 35 balls,  Retired not out in a dinky game today. Not the greatest test but it was at least a game. Better than nothing.

I see plenty of comments about getting another dodgy umpire decision, in the fairness of balance I expect you all to post when you are given not out.  Don't usually find many batsman who say they were definitely out.

Took my first 5 wicket haul of the season today, including a stumping which is always a satisfying way to get a wicket! Watched two blokes lump sixes for a little while and chased down 166 at a jog

4 lbws and 2 'snick' offs on saturday. I can safely say 3 were god aweful decisions and one lbw was plumb. Both snicks (including my own), we walked and the umpire wouldn't have given it. so yeah, there is a fair bit of poor umpiring around. Sadly, in my experience, it's not a rare thing either.

oh, and one of the lbws that wasn't out but was given was an oppo player.. terrible decision. So it's not even team bias

Some great umpiring going on here as I'm doing it whilst injured 3 Lbw's.  So frustrating as May miss season with broken finger.

In regards the umpiring comments for me as I've moved clubs it's been made aware to me who is a good umpire and who isn't when playing teams that umpire their own batsman, even if your as fair as possible it's fully dependant on the opposition being the same,
As proved on Saturday when losing by one wicket that wasn't the issue what was, was how we supposedly conceded so many extras 33 in total, this being their second top scorer and we had one young 16 yr old lad who took it very hard to concede so many wides and no balls, the same lad who with a different umpire didn't concede any,

2 of mine have been given by kids sent out and they have no idea about umpiring or LBW decisions and are not able to say no when a man is screaming at them whilst appealing. And I can see I know when I'm out LBW I have smashed 1 into my pad, one was going so far down leg and today's just hit the bat and nothing elsa hell it went to backward square leg with the keeper who was standing up down the leg side to take it

You expect dodgy calls from player/club umpires. I've only ever has board ones, so you expect better

I fully expect dodgy calls from all umpires in my league regardless of whether the umpire's association has managed to send down two umpires or we've had to use a player as the square leg umpire as only one league appointed umpire has been sent down. Even the league umpires seem to have difficulty with LBWs, and wides for some reason.

In our game last week we had several LBW shouts turned down and a caught behind of the glove also turned down.  I thought I'd give the umpire a chance, as long as he consistently gives the benefit of the doubt to the batsmen.  He then proceeded to give 5 of our lads out. 4 LBW's and 1 caught behind!  I got a huge inside edge on mine.  I'm not saying that none of the shouts were out but the more disappointing thing was the speed in which he shot our batsmen out, no hesitation whatsoever.

Luckily, despite his best efforts, we managed to knock our target off for 7 wickets.

I was invited a few weeks back to turn out for a Leeds friendly side but first 2 matches were rained off but we finally kicked off our Sunday season this afternoon. Turned up to find myself asked to skipper the side as the organiser had never captained before and promptly lost the toss. Fortunately opposition wanted to bat first which suited me perfectly as I wanted to bowl. I gave everyone (who wanted to bowl) a 4 over spell including the autistic lad (that I mentioned last week) who took another couple of wickets. I also took 2 wickets and was on a hat-trick for the 2nd time within a week. Bowled opposition out for 146 which I pleased with as I wanted to chase around 150. After tea I sent in to bat everyone who had not bowled and we overhauled their total with around 2 overs to spare. A friend of mine who I had brought along scored 66 not out which was the backbone of our innings. Unfortunately my innings was somewhat shorter as I failed to keep out a rather good yorker and departed for just 7.

Everyone on our side contributed and the opposition seemed relatively contented in defeat so it was one of those afternoons when cricket was the winner.

We got bailed on by our opposition late on Sat morning, I ended up helping out our 3s after they had a late pullout. Bagged a couple of wickets and came in down the order to see us home in partnership with the skipper, we both managed the game and the jug avoidance well, 47* for me.

Sunday a solid 1* from two balls and a bit of a mixed bag keeping. Got 2 catches standing up, a stumping and a runout though so happy with that! One lovely take down the legside off the face of their firsts players' lovely grainy B&S.
