So , further to my earlier post, we ended up losing. They scored 237 -4 and we scraps to 172 so. Our opener and number 4 manage to score 75 between them and our numbers 8, 9, and 10 put on 70 odd between them too, much to the chagrin of the opposition. I was last man out on 18 trying to hit the bowler over the top, only to realise that the fielder was Alex. Damn it, caught by the Aussie international in a full length diving catch.

Fun game though. This is Alex.

How did you get on?  I picked up 5-19 against your 3XI - and that is despite some appalling umpiring by your boys!!  I hope you got runs in the 2XI

Very impressive! So you're saying it might have been better? Haven't seen the scores yet but usually when someone gets those figures they win...
EDIT... Ah just seen the scorecard, you just squeaked home by 10 wickets  ;)
I only got 13 but felt comfortable and saw off the new ball in an all CBF opening partnership with @Warneymonster until I dragged on for the 3rd time this season  >:( Hopefully done enough to get a bit of a run at the job though my fielding was even more arthritic than usual. We had our share of umpiring controversies too but ended up defending just short of 200 quite easily.

Weird match yesterday. Pitch was used so slow, but anything on a length rather stayed low or popped. We struggled to 107-9 of our 40.
Went out to bowl and immediately got one opener for 2 chopping on from one that kept low and cut back in. Then a run out gpt rid of the number 3 but after 10 they were 40 for 2.  Few more no crowing covers and one hits it straight up and I manage to take the catch getting the other opener. I then came on bowling 8 overdose straight through 8-4-3-11 they only just managed to get the score 7 down in the end with a couple of Overs left.
Low scoring matches I argue are the best

Agree - Low scoring matches tend to be the best and set up tense finishes.

Can't beat winning by 2 or 3 runs

Lost by 3 wickets yesterday.

Posted 203 from 45. I got 44 before getting out. I was starved of the strike for 10 overs by the other lad. Funny how he can count the last ball for a single each time... .

Bowled 9-2-22-1 with my off spin. We were looking like we were going to win until our skipper was hit for 30 from an over which put the oppo in prime position. Was a good game though.

Of course - the one that went under the radar was 'stumped off your bowling' - care to elaborate Tim?  :)

The keeper was standing a couple paces back in the last over to stop any charging. The guy charged anyway, missed, and the keeper was able to take the bails off.

I thought you'd turned to the dark side for a minute there.  ;)

Fielding first, did ok. Stopped a few while having to dive at short third man and got a nice catch with the ball looping, running in and across from third man diving forward into the sun. Got brought in when the big hitters arrived. A tight quick on one side and me (leggie) on the other. Beat the bat enough and most of the balls that were hit were skied, they just fell into the wrong places. Consistency was ok, got a wicket with a slider. Noticed my standard leggie was more topspin (have to work on that) so mostly replied on a 'front of the hand scrambled ball' that I can make turn or skid straight on.

The oppo where a few bowlers weak so batsmen 3&4 were able to chase 181 using a H4L Hattori Monster and the HH Mojo. Game was won by a reverse sweep that went for 6 with the HH that was sourced by Chris (Soulman).

And a good few beers in the sun with the oppo made a great day all-round.

Forgot to mention the full blooded drive into my toe I managed yesterday as well. I suspect my toenail is likely to fall off....

Lost by seven wickets.

Made 12, batted a long time to ensure we used overs. Still playing firsts so only a tiny fish in a big pond!

Positive only one bye in 24 overs keeping.
