Once defended 76 in a t20, on the worlds smallest ground at Ledsham as well. It wasn't as if we had grinders in our team, Simmy and Liam were playing! Think I came in at 31-7 and top scored. We won comfortably as well. Let's just say the track was "sporting".

I wish I could blame the track mate but we were on there artificial haha! A lot of our team can give it a hoof too but no one could seem to get it away, small ground and they just had everyone riding the fence, we only fell 2 short but it might as well have been 50 short the way I felt afterwards (mainly because a team mate ran me out haha!)

What reason's have the club given you? Without wanting to seem rude, are you trying to play a level that perhaps is above you? Are you rubbing people up the wrong way perhaps? It seems very odd that at two different clubs you find yourself in the same situation.

No reason at all, "I forgot about you" was once offered up by the second team captain earlier in the season, which I naively accepted as an easy mistake to make because i'd only been back home from uni for a few days. I actually dropped down in level to play for this club, even abandoning my planned season out of the game two years ago to go and make my debut as a last minute call up. I just don't understand how I can go from playing nearly every week to only playing twice in the season, I knew my situation was getting bad last time I played (over a month ago now) when the club president noted that i've hardly played all year. I don't know how I could possibly cause any kind of conflict, i'm first on the ground (apart from staff) at both nets and games, help set up where I can and generally keep quiet unless someone wants to talk to me.

"Apart from the staff"

Where do you play? At my club and every cub in our league the staff are the players!

Simply ask the 2 skippers outright why you are not getting picked. If you don't get a satisfactory answer or they are evasive, move immediately to another club.

Most clubs are crying out for new players, and unless you are a complete knob, you should be welcomed with open arms.

Keep playing if someone will have you.

Good call, I remember him saying he hasn't taken a catch in about 4 years. Dropping down a level from Sussex to Essex? All that would fit very nicely...

I took a catch last time I played, and was subsequently dived on by the bowler because he got his five for from it. Only catch taken by anyone that day as well.

Had a mare last night in a T20, bowled really well to keep them to 106 off 20 overs and then failed to chase it down...........

Last season but we restricted a team to 50 odd in last T20 match of the season but then couldn't make it over the line. Needing about 15 to get off 5 overs, we sent someone into bat who had moaned throughout the early part of our innings that he hadn't batted all season and this person then proceeded to block out 14 deliveries. The person was out for 0 on the 15th delivery but was completely oblivious to the match situation as he proceeded to tell everyone how good it felt to have lasted so long at the crease. We lost by 2 runs.

One of our players was absolutely furious because we have performances bonuses but are only paid if the team wins. He had picked up 6 wickets which would have banked him £20.

Oh man, I feel so much better now :D none of our lads were trying to block out too much or anything, just anything we hit was stopped on the boundary, just one of those nights!

Opened up the innings at the weekend, hung around for 40 overs, knocked a watchful 50-odd (apart from a mad scramble towards the end - including an all-run six), took 3 wickets and a catch. We lost in the last over of the game. Our last man in (who likes to give it a bit of humpty) blocked out our final over because he 'didn't know it was a limited overs game'. Gah! Still, it was nice personally to get a respectable score. It's been a while.

Got a call last night saying I will be part of a 3 man spin attack playing in the East Anglian prem this weekend, I've played before but to get a call and be told I'm being picked for a legitimate reason rather than we are one short is brilliant, as I've worked my testicles off this season to get my off spin up to a decent standard has finally paid off!

Didn't play last weekend due to being away, got a text from the skipper whilst I was dozing in the car somewhere near Paris checking if I was available for tomorrow as if I'd been missed! Two 30 point wins whilst I was away for my club at home, and if we win tomorrow we get promoted to div2. Our 1s are comfy in the top division, but have nabbed a few of our players tomorrow.
Played weekend before last down in Sussex, top scored with 31 having gone in at 2/2, put on 50 with number 3 but then was probably out lbw, guy I was with wasn't sure but I thought it was correct as I'd triggered across and was hit below the knee on my back leg. Wicketless when we bowled, didn't do anything wrong but the old ball just didn't seem to want to turn, ended up losing by 7 wickets.

No match for me today due to the clubs policy of selecting  the guys first who played in the last match
It's a fair system i guess  but one that could cost the club the winners title as the clubs best batsman is also left out.

I understand the sentiment, but how on earth do you get back in after an unavoidable absence? Does consistency of availability not come in to it first?
