Harlton? Fun place to play.

Do they have a bar?

Just want to give a shout out to @jonny77 who I bought a bat from earlier in the week. Only got in for the last few overs but that was long enough to discover it goes like an absolute rocket. In fact it was slightly frustrating as I barely got any strike but still pinged a lovely 4 to a very long leg-side boundary which I would never have attempted with my old 3lb bat.

Finished the league season with a batting average of 45 !!!

So glad the season is over.

We got hammered today and didn’t help with the worst bowling and fielding display Iv seen from us is the 5 years Iv played for my club. To make matters worse the attitude of my now team was awful today and no idea why.

We conceeded 294 from 40 overs on a very flat deck, they are 2 Leagues above us and there running was a level above ours and they rotated really well and put every bad ball away And we gave at least 2 an over.

I managed to pick up a wicket towards the end but that’s about it

Batting wise triggered from a massive inside edge that went to fine leg to look up and see a raised finger, just about sums up my shocking season with the bat. 82 runs from 6 games at an avg of 16 is just awful.

Looking forward to the winter break and deciding what I want to do next year

Glad you enjoyed using it today mate, albeit briefly! Was great to meet you last week and hope the bat scores you plenty more.

We chased 240 easily yesterday, reckon the opposition left another 40-50 runs out there as they didn't run as hard as we did, and our fielding effort was near flawless. There was one tiny boundary, about 35 yards in places, with the other boundary about 85-90 yards.

Their opener batted through for 115*, excellent knock, but should have been held off my for 48 a nicking behind. Also had him sky one that dropped between mid on running back and long on running in. I ended up wicket less but only going for 6 per over, which I was pleased with given the short boundary was on a right handers leg side. Our opener then batted through for 72* and our number 4 blazed 102 in quick time, clearing the short boundary a lot and the big straight boundaries with ease.

Off the field, I was honoured to win the Jeremy Suter Award, a sort of clubman of the year. Jeremy was a Beaconsfield man through and through, a good friend of my brother and a past pupil of my mother, who was taken far too young, so the fact his father nominated me is really meaningful and a great privilege.

That's awesome mate, Jez was a good friend from Uni - one of the truly good guys. I'm usually at the six a side with the Swansea Uni boys so hopefully it'll be back on next year!!

Lost our semi final on Saturday. Put up a competitive score and were well on top with the opposition Needing 8s with 20 overs left. The next 10 overs we went to pieces - slack fielding, poor captaincy. Picked it up again for the last 10 and it took a fantastic 70* from the number 6 to win it for them in the last over. Always enjoyed these tight games with some atmosphere and pressure and held a hard flat drive at long off towards the end right in front of the oppos supporters. Hats off to them - great run chase especially after a few early wickets. Both teams enjoyed a few beers

Personally had 40 from 66 which was about par for me this season. Included a checked on drive for 4 which i dont think ive ever played before! Finished with 260 ish runs at 37 in the league. All with the Chase Laminate i got from the forum. Dont remember who sold it to me but thankyou very much - its a weapon!

All in all enjoyed the season. Very grateful to get the games in we did after thinking at one point there would be no cricket. Hopefully next year we are back to a full season of competitive cricket.

Finished the season yesterday with a great friendly 35-over game in glorious sunshine, capped with making a run-a-ball 50* in a chase of just over 200 against amenable but quite decent opposition, then heading for beers and curry afterwards.

TBH I'm really sad this season has ended. Bowling has been mediocre (25 wickets @ 12.5), but batting has felt easier than it has in years (550 runs @ 91). It definitely helps that my 2 B3s are fully opened up - having a bat you are used to definitely gives you confidence that you don't need to overhit the ball.

If 25 wickets at 12’s is mediocre you might want to challenge yourself a bit more?

Been a while since I've been on here, but thought I'd give a little season review of my own.

Despite being a mini season, it's the only season I've been able to play a bigger part in for the past 3 years due to constant knee issues (ACL damage), which is never too good as bowler.
After spending the majority of my games playing for the clubs 2's previously, I found myself in the 3rd team to start the season off.
Not a great deal of surprise given my 2/3 of a season combined over the previous 2 seasons. I managed to work may way back up to the 2's (until i was unavailable for a week and got dropped again). Out of 8 games, there were 5 3rd team games, all of which I captained which was a new experience, and 3 were second team games. Surprisingly though, every game I have played in this year the team has won, which is a definite positive.

As a whole so far this season, I've managed 17 wickets in 55.3 overs, with an Economy of 3.73, SR of 19.59 and average of 12.18, which I am very happy with, especially given I only managed 49 overs in the previous 2 seasons combined.

To cap it off, we have a cup final for the 3rd team this coming Saturday to finish the season after our semi-final win yesterday. We posted 242/7 off our 40 overs (with a solid 8* off 2 balls from myself  :o ), and managed to bowl them out for 184 with 2 overs to spare. Makes it seem tighter than it was, given that they were up with the rate and ahead of where we were going in to the second half of the innings. Personally i managed 3/30 off 7.3 overs, all 3 wickets coming in a single over, but it was a good performance from all our bowlers to restrict them on what was a very good batting deck.

On to the final game now and hopefully end the season with a trophy. Good luck to all others in any finals they have!

Bowling averages of around 15 are pretty standard for club cricket, especially T20 stuff.

Yes they are. All the tosspots playing well below their standard to inflate their egos have them!
